Hamish had taken to walking around the grounds on days when he didn't have classes, liking going outside to stretch his legs and catch a breath of fresh air. Today he'd been enthralled in a book, and had spent the last hour or so just slowly wandering while he read. He was headed back into the castle now, his nose still buried in the book he was reading. He wasn't watching where he was walking, and accidentally knocked into someone. "Oh-! Sorry," Hamish yelped, dropping his book and reaching out to try and help steady the other person. His eyes widened slightly as he saw who he'd run into, a blush coloring his cheeks. "Oh, h-hello," he stammered to the pretty boy, swallowing nervously. Hamish straightened and stepped back. "Are you alright?"

Louis was a little frustrated. He didn't have a date for the yule ball yet, and it was pretty soon. He considered asking Valeria, but she might have someone already. Besides, he didn't really want to go with someone he had already gone with, even though she was pretty cool. Louis was deep in thought about who he could possibly ask, his mind going to Nolan, Maisie, even briefly considering Caleb. He was jolted out of his musings when he suddenly bumped into someone. Louis blinked, managing to stay upright. He looked at the boy for a moment before smiling and picking up his book. "Hey, no worries. It takes more than that to knock me down." He said with a grin, handing him the book. "Are you the Slytherin beater or the Ravenclaw seeker?" He asked.

Hamish smiled shyly, taking the offered book and clutching it to his chest with one arm. "Heh, um, glasses," he offered, pushing his up his nose as he said it. "Reading. Ravenclaw." He clarified. Seamus never wore his glasses. "Hamish." He introduced himself with a bashful grin, holding out his hand.

Louis shrugged with an easy smile. "I figured guessing you were a Ravenclaw based on your glasses might be unfair stereotyping." He joked lightly. "And even us mere non-Ravenclaw mortals have to read sometimes, unfortunately." He pulled a face for a moment. Then he shook the boy's hand. "Louis." He said, though he hoped the boy had already known his name.

Hamish laughed shyly. "Um, maybe. But it is the easiest way to tell us apart. He never wears his glasses and he doesn't um, usually read," Hamish offered. Why was this boy so appealing to him? "You, um, you're in Gryffindor, yeah?"
