It had only been a few weeks since he officially started his adventure at Hogwarts. He had his cousins around, which was nice and had been exploring the castle with his good pal, Little Will. Declan thought he managed to make a few friends, which Declan was happy about. So far, everything seemed good; he was trying to be hopeful with the lessons. They had seemed a bit boring at the moment, but he hoped they'd at least be a little more fun. Declan had sat on one of the benches in the courtyard, his tarantula in a small cage, which he reluctantly decided to do. After losing his tarantula multiple times, Molly had put her foot down and told him to keep it in a portable cage or box when carrying his companion around until he kept a better eye on his tarantula. Declan frowned at his tarantula as he sat on one of the benches. "I'm sorry that you have to suffer in there, Little Will. Molly doesn't know what she's talking about"

January was settling into Hogwarts slowly but surely. She was happy her roommates were so nice and so far her lessons weren't too challenging. But she was still learning her way around the castle. She had meant to heat out to the lawn but somehow got turned around and ended up in the courtyard. The sun was shining so she figured it was good enough, besides she was tired after running around the castle all day looking for her classes. She sat down on one of the empty benches and took out a book. She only made it a few lines in when she heard someone speak nearby and his accent cut right through her focus. Blinking, she looked up and saw a boy in her year. "Um, sorry to bother you but.....where are you from?" she asked. The question was mortifyingly direct but she couldn't think of a better way to phrase it.

Declan looked up from his caged tarantula when a girl nearby spoke. He was confused at first, but shrugged it off. Maybe the girl was curious and just wanted to make conversation, but he hadn't properly caught on to the girl's accent just yet. Declan processed things a little slower. "Oh! I'm from Ireland! Mullingar, to be exact! How about you?" Declan says with a grin, his arm resting on top of his tarantula cage. If the boy was honest, he did in fact miss home. He had moved here just over a year ago for his parents to support his uncle and his family with everything they had been going through at the moment. But even though he was here to support his family, he couldn't help but miss his home back in Ireland.
