Falling down...

Tess was in quite a good mood lately. Her hair was pulled back into a perfect pony-tail. It fell perfectly down the back of her head and to the bottom of her shoulder blades. It was obvious that Tess had spent quite a bit of time on her hair, even though it was a simple pony-tail it had to be perfectly aligned. If it was slightly out of shape Tess would have to re-fix it. Tess was not a self-centred girl who was in love with her appearance; Tess was a perfectionist and needed everything to be perfect. A trait that she did not love about, it meant that everything around her had to be in a certain place, had to be even and had to be perfect. Tess often found herself fixing one of her guy friends ties, or brushing one of her girl friends hair and putting it up for her so it would stay in place the whole day. Tess continued walking down the halls of her school. Sunshine coming from the many windows and making silhouettes all around Tess. Something that Tess did not overly enjoy, all she could see were the slight imperfections of her surroundings and the sunlight that was blinding her. Tess was so distracted that she did not see what she had bumped into, all she knew was she was now on the ground, picking herself up. “What the?” She asked no-one in particular.

Having returned to BeauxBatons kept a small smile spread across the blonde's face. She had loved her trip to New Zealand, but Avarice was ready to focus on her education. Her exams were this year and all she need to do, was preform perfectly in them and all would be fine. Avarice was not a silly girl, she was, like her sisters brainy. When it came to most things Avarice had it out easy. Her brain was always able to function properly when she needed it to. And her looks never failed her. Her looks however were not down to Avarice, the girl was half veela without any knowledge of the fact that she was. Avarice was delicate, and average in height. Her legs gave her the most height. But the thing about Ava was that she hard noticed her looks. She didn't do much, because she saw no point, she wanted people to like her for her, not for looks. It seemed almost deming to her that a person would want to be her friend because they liked how she looked. It wasn't how she lived, it wasn't how she'd been brought up. Avarice knew her second name wasn't exactly great for showing how she really felt about people who chose to be fake. But it wasn't like she could do anything about it. it was her name, and in the end Avarice liked her name. Avarice had just woken up , and although it was pretty late on in the day she didn't feel the stress that she would normally feel. Avarice had been up late studying, so she felt up to date and she felt like she knew all that she could about what she had been studying. Avarice however was very much hungry. So she through on the basis of the uniform. Her short skirt and shirt. Before putting a pair of knee length socks on and slipping into a pair of black stiletto heels that her sister had given her, when she'd begun her sixth year. They were "seniors" shoes. She was now taller than before. Avarice took her bag and her wand, and without even looking at her hair, left the dorm room.

Avarice's hair hung in messy lose curls which sat on her shoulder and framed the brown eyes that went against the usual veela rules, which was always why Avarice told herself that she wasn't Veela. Most Veela had long hair, and blue eyes. But, Avarice's mind didn't sit too long on the thought of Veela, since she thought herself to not be one. She just thought herself pretty. Nothing less than pretty and nothing more. The sun was glaring into the corridors, making it difficult for the 6th year to see where she was going, and it was as she thought that, that she walked right into someone else. Thankfully, even with the heels, Avarice was steady on her feet and stopped herself from falling over. She took a second to register what had happened and then looked to who she had just walked into. A girl was now on the ground. "Oh my goodness. I'm so sorry." Avarice rushed in her perfect french, as she kneeled down. "The sunlight, I could barely see. I'm really sorry." Avarice continued She stood up slightly and offered a hand to help the girl up. Avarice looked to the girl, and smiled, her blonde curls falling into her face as she did so. "let me help you up. Are you okay?"

Tess looked up to see big brown eyes, they belonged to a girl who had to her around her age, maybe slightly younger or older. Tess smiled kindly, if she were in a bad mood she probably would not have smiled. “So not apologise, it is as much my fault as yours.” Tess said sitting up slightly and letting the world stop spinning, she must have hit her head on the ground hard, though Tess never had a strong head. “I too could barely see because of the sunlight, it is particularly bright today when it shouldn’t be.” She said with a soft laugh. Tess grabbed the girls hand gently, Tess was not one for violence to a complete stranger, especially one as nice as this girl was. The only person she would attack would be her brother Jack, he would say and do all the right things that would set her off, than some. Tess nodded slightly. “Yes I am sure I am fine.” She reassured the girl. “I am Tessa Kaster, lovely to meet you.” She said, Tess was speaking in French the whole time because the girl she had ran into spoke French, Tess was not sure whether the girl could actually speak English so just to be safe she spoke French. Tess than had enough with the sunlight constantly blinding her. “Would you like to go somewhere else less sunny?” Tess asked, a small smile on her face. Tess than noticed that the girls hair was out of whack, she had not seen it before because of the sun light but a cloud had temporarily moved in front of the sun, blocking it for a few minutes, long enough for Tess to take in details of the girl. “Forgive me.” Tess said quickly, straightening up the girls hair, it was a terrible habit Tess had and she hated having it, but she could not change who she was.

Avarice felt bad for having caused the other girl to fall. But it did tell her that she of all people was more stable on her feet. Even taking into account the heels that were upon her feet. She just nodded as the girl spoke, thankful the words out her mouth were french. it was ever so often that a person at Beauxbatons spoke a language that was distinctly not french. Ava didn't often mind, but still, this was France and she believe that the people that came to Beauxbatons would have the decency to learn the language. It was slightly strange of her to think this considering she could speak English, a little German. But she would only use them if she was in that country, or someone else was having great difficulty understanding her french. "It is. Too bright." Avarice agreed, smiling slightly, as the other girl took her hand and she helped her to her feet. She had to hold out one hand, to be sure that in helping the girl that she didn't fall over. It took Avarice a few seconds to once again feel completely steady on her feet. She was inwardly cursing the heels on her feet. They caused really nothing but bother, but Avarice would wear them, to make her sisters happy. Avarice nodded as the girl said her name. Ava just nodded, because she was busy fixing her skirt, which had risen up as she had bent down. Of course even as she did this, the skirt didn't go down by much. Avarice's skirt was one from before she'd had a growth spurt. And while it still fitted her around the waist, it was now more like a mini skirt. Avarice knew this brought unwanted attention, but she was (unknowlingly) veela, so no matter what she did, she would always get the attention of the boys. It was really just how she used this attention. As in, not at all. Avarice didn't bother with boys, in her mind they brought nothing but annoyance and anger. She of course had friends that were boys, but Avarice was not interested in anything else apart from friendship, Friendship she had.

Avarice nodded once more, and before she could agree the girl had her hands in her hair. Making it straight. It made Avarice blush, a light red upon her cheeks. "I'm sorry, I just got up, My hair must be a mess." Avarice raised a hand and brush her hair through the lose curls. "I would very much like to go someone less sunny. I'm Avarice Vanity. I'm not vain." Avarice said quickly adding the little comment about her name. She knew it didn't actually show her to be less vain, but she thought it was better to get the word out there, before Tessa made any assumptions about her. "It's just a name. Shall we go to the Hall or something?" Avarice asked, moving out of the suns path and into an area of shade. "Unless you have somewhere else to be." Avarice wasn't sure that Tessa would even want to be her friend. It wasn't a unfair assumption that she wouldn't want to be. Avarice knew that while she was very friendly and kind, and honest, people tended to stay well away from her. She hadn't quite pinpointed as to why this was. Avarice didn't btoher to look too into it. It wasn't a good thing, because if she did, it would make her feel as though something was wrong with her. Something that made others stay away. Whether it was the blonde curls, or the fact she had two sisters and each had a different hair colour. And it was true. Avarice was actually a natural brunette gone blonde, Aphrodisia was a natural blonde gone Brunette. And Penchant was ginger. But Avarice didn't think about it, so it didn't bother her. So she just went about her day, ignoring it. Plus, she knew it was there loss. Avarice knew she was a good friend. "I can understand if you have somewhere else to be. Really."

Tess smiled when the girl seemed to be slightly uncomfortable in the heels she wore. Tess wore heels but not today, today she was wearing her sneakers, even though they were not heels she still managed to fall over when the girl who was wearing heels managed to stay up, it was rather funny and it made Tess feel very unbalanced indeed. “Why do you wear the heels if you are obviously uncomfortable in them?” Tess asked with a confused look.

Tess laughed slightly, the girl was slightly self conscious and Tess did not blame her, she had just met her and already Tess was fixing her hair. There was nothing wrong with the soft blonde hair, only that it was not straight and even. “Dont worry about it I am just a perfectionist, your hair wasn’t horrible at all.” Tess explained to her. Not many people understood how someone could be a perfectionist, some thought it just a life style choice but the fact was Tess did not choose to be a perfectionist, she just had to be. Just like a fish did not choose to have to live in water, it just had to. When Avarice introduced herself it made Tessa laugh. “Lovely to meet you Avarice. By the way I am not a tax-exempt savings account nor do I throw things.” Tess told her with a small laugh. TESSA meant tax-exempt savings account and in Norwegian Kaster meant ‘throwing’, and since the girl thought that Tess would judge her because of her last name Tess thought that maybe she should do the same. Tess was not trying to be rude at all, she was just playing around with the girl. Tess smiled. “Ava, can I call you Ava? Anyway, I am sure your parents did not go into the future to see how you acted, than go into the past the change their last name to Vanity because you were vain.” Tess explained kindly. “Sure lets go to the hall, it should be slightly darker.” Tess smiled slightly, she knew all too well how it felt sometimes when you did something that someone else did not like. The problem with Tess was she had a temper and when set off went mental, though getting her angry was very hard to do, unless you were one of her brothers. But she was also a perfectionist and people these days did not like someone tidying them up and always trying to look their best and Tess could sometimes be called vain, it was not her fault though, she could not sleep at night unless she looked perfect. “Yes Ava I am very busy, you see I am busy going to the hall with the nice girl whom is not vain that I recently ran into, you can come if you want.” She said laughing slightly. “Now let us go.” She said grabbing her arm and walking down the hall careful not to bump into anyone else.
