Sparrow was not stuck in a tree. Being stuck in a tree would imply that he couldn't get out, and that was completely false. He could get down if he really wanted to. Whether it'd be without any broken bones was a different question entirely, but it still didn't mean he was stuck. He had been trying to figure out an alternative method of studying that didn't involve sitting at a desk or having to be quiet because those were methods created entirely to torture him and climbing a tree with his Herbology textbook in hand had seemed like a good idea at the time, approximately half an hour ago. It'd been fine until he realised branches were actually kind of uncomfortable to sit on and also had twigs that snagged at his robes and pinned him in place. In hindsight, climbing trees while wearing traditional wizard clothing wasn't the most practical. Sparrow wasn't entirely sure what he was going to do about freeing himself, but he also didn't want to try very hard because that would mean admitting he was stuck.

Which he wasn't. The tree was just his home now. It was just him and a book on magical plants against the world and he'd just have to accept that forever.

The Hogwarts grounds weren't much of a place to be, but here Cornelius was. If nothing else, he wanted to get to know the area well. He should have a good understanding of the school, to make sure he had every chance of being successful. So he'd dragged himself outside, nose wrinkling at the smell of nature. What was nature good for, anyway? But he was here, so he started wandering around, trying to get a good idea of what was where. He was passing under a tree when he heard a sound from above, jumping abruptly in shock. He looked around quickly, relieved that nobody seemed to have seen his lapse in cool, before looking up to see what had startled him. His face spread into a disbelieving scowl at the sight above him, annoyed that someone had seen him after all. "What are you doing up there?" He snapped commmandingly.

Sparrow had begun weighing the pros and cons of living in a tree forever. Pros: can't get sunburned if you're covered by foliage. Cons: Sparrow barely wanted to eat his vegetables, let alone surviving on leaves forever. It was a real tie and he was having a pretty hard time trying to break it. Craning his neck to see if he could spot signs of human life, just in case he needed someone to help him - not that he did, he lost his grip on the branch and heard a ripping sound from his robes. Electing to ignore it, he peered down at the boy who'd just appeared. "Maxing, relaxing, I'unno." Sparrow grunted, carefully folding his arms across his chest to try look unbothered. His tree adventures weren't public domain and this guy needed to mind his own beeswax.

Cornelius scoffed at the tree-boy's response, eyes narrowing at him. ""Maxing" isn't a word." He said haughtily. On closer inspection he recognised him from classes - of course this would be a Hufflepuff. "And you look ridiculous." He added snootily. "What's the point of going up there?"

Lazarus still had many places at hogwarts he wanted to explore.
The great lawn having been one of them untill a moment ago when he spotted the path goint to it and decided he had nothing better to do that moment.
Approaching the edge of the lawn, he spotted a student in the distance, staring up into a tree.

As he got closer it seemed as though the student was talking to himself or was he talking himself, however on closer inspection, he was so fixated on the tree it was almost as if he was talking to the tree itsself.

Confused Lazarus decided to get a closer look. At first he saw only the thick foliage of the tree, but then he spotted what looked like a shoe dangling over a branch, no, a whole person was sitting there.

He picked up his pace for the last few meters and as he was just a few paces away he called out. "Damn. You certainly seem comfortable with heights."
"How are you going to get down?"

Sparrow scowled at the boy. Words were all made up anyway, so he didn't see the point of distinguishing the validity of any of them. He was a little annoyed he'd have to say more of them because that's how conversations typically worked. Wizards were supposed to magic, why couldn't they just read minds? "'s a tree." Sparrow rolled his eyes. Did some people need a reason to be up in a tree? That seemed stupid. Another boy approached and Sparrow was somewhat put off to find that he'd become a spectacle. "Down is for suckers, live here now." he said firmly. Just as he spoke, his textbook slipped from his precarious hold and plummeted down towards the two other boys and Sparrow could only watch in fascinated horror to see where it landed.

Cornelius glanced over at another voice, spotting another kid he knew from classes. He really ought to be remembering names, he knew, but there were just so many of them. The other kid had a pretty good point, and Cornelius looked up at tree boy with disdain. "So you're happy to be defeated by a tree." He sneered. Cornelius didn't think he could imagine anything more pathetic.

Trying to hold back a giggle, Lazarus took a step closer to the tree, examining it for good footholds to climb up with.
he was impressed that the boy had even gotten up there in the first place.

He looked up and next thing he knew there was a sharp pain at his forehead as a textbook hit him in the head with no warning and then fell onto the grass with a muffled thump.

"ouch!"

He was puzzled at first, still processing what had just happened.
after snapping out of it though, he quickly forgot about it and proceeded to get a firm grip of the tree.
"give me a heads up if you drop anything else so i don't drop with it" he said as he began to slowly ascend the trees trunk.

Sparrow didn't get why the rude kid even cared he was in a tree. He didn't seem to consider that Sparrow might not be up there by choice, which was actually perfectly fine. Being defeated by a tree didn't feel all that bad either - trees were big and Sparrow, like his namesake, was decidedly less so. He flinched as the book hit its target and smacked the other kid. "Soooorry," he groaned, twisting his head to get a better view. He snorted when the other boy began climbing the tree, giving a pointed look towards the rude one. "Team tree. We're winning." he said. Why he now had an upcoming tree companion was a mystery, but Sparrow knew firsthand that the tree was very climbable and perhaps another set of hands might help him out of his predicament.

Cornelius watched the other two boys in amused confusion. Why you would try to climb up a tree where someone was already clearly stuck, he had no idea. He couldn't help laughing when the book hit him in the head, looking between the two boys in amusement. This was a comedy of errors, and there didn't seem to be anything for him to do but enjoy the show. "Not much of a team." He said with a smirk. "Hitting each other before you're even both up there."
