Overal Personality: Eryk's very much like a well-mannered puppy, even now that he's aged and matured. Bright, warm, and cheerful, he's a generally easy man to approach and even more easily gotten along with. He's very open and willing to "love" and protect anyone, without thought. Hence the reason he was sorted into Gryffindor House. Offering all his knowledge and a should to cry on, he loves the idea of being that person; the one people know they can count on for anything. No matter what it is, no matter what time of the night or where they are, he'd be there in a heartbeat to bail them out. He believes that everyone deserves a second chance so even after someone that he's taken in or trusted burns him, he still lets them come back. It's only after the several "second chances" that his patience begins to wear thin because there's a fine line between needing a second chance and taking advantage of someone. Though it's difficult for him to see sometimes, he is aware of this and eventually will shut them out completely. History: Eryk Lawrence Kaelen was born to a middle class, half blood wizarding family in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on April 3rd, 2011. In his first few years his parents were unsure whether he was a wizard or a muggle because, due to his personality of being shy and withdrawn, he never showed them any signs that would indicate that he was a wizard whatsoever. Eryk was about nine years old when he first preformed magic, which was a huge relief for Joseph and Gwenyth. The oldest Kaelen eventually got his acceptance letter and thus starting his life as a wizard.
Much to his surprise, Eryk, who always thought that he would be sorted into Thunderbird, got placed into Horned Serpent instead by the Sorting Hat, just like his father. He made fast friends with two other Horned Serpents after being lost in the castle for about two hours on his second day and during his time at Ilvermorny he excelled in History of Magic and Muggle Studies as well as most of the other core subjects he followed. At the end of his second year he came to the conclusion that he wanted to study to become a magizoolist, so naturally followed the Care of Magical Creature lessons in his third year and up. Going in his third year, his younger brother Arnold got sorted into Pukwudgie which both Eryk and his parents weren't happy with for different reasons. The relationship between the two Kaelen boy's had been pretty good before they both got accepted, and Eryk didn't want that to change whilst the two of them attended Ilvermorny. All was well until Arnold began walking around with the wrong crowd, hexing and jinxing people left and right and even going as far as hexing Eryk and his friends, thus starting the hateful and rocky relationship between the brothers. As a reward for his good behaviour and grades throughout the years, Eryk was made Prefect in his fifth year. It was something his parents were very proud of as they would brag about it to others every now and then. Two years later, in his seventh year, Eryk was even made Head Boy. He passed his O.W.L.s and N.E.W.T.s with flying colours.
Graduating Ilvermorny a Horned Serpent, he was not at the top of his class but still up there. Generally a well liked guy through school, he found no trouble adjusting to adult life as he went on the continue proper training to become a magizoolist. But after five years of observing and studying dangerous creatures, he discovered he wasn't getting the fulfillment out of it like he wanted. Taking to the idea of teaching the younger generations his knowledge, Eryk began studying to become a professor. At the age of twenty-five, he was prepared to take on a teaching position but since Ilvermorny already had a History professor, he decided to teach at a high school instead. After three year of teaching American history to a bunch of teenagers and major family drama, Eryk decided that it was time for a change of surroundings so packed his bags and moved to New Zealand together with his nephew - because his brother and sister-in-law left their boy at his doorstep. In 2039 he met his future wife Liberty in the library he worked at before he would end teaching at Hogwarts New Zealand for one semester. In 2041 he married Liberty and applied at the local university where he would eventually work as a professor.
