Sitting down quietly, Maria Mollinary von Lohenstein took a deep breath of fresh spring air and looked around the Courtyard. It was really a nice day today, in December. Chuckling, she thought about the paradox of being in down under. Her dear mother still got confused sometimes about this, being born in the Northern Hemisphere and all, while she saw no problems with it, after all she was born here. The Ravenclaw then stretched, and stood up from her seated position and took a walk around the Courtyard. The weather was really refreshing and brought the countess in a much better mood. All she needed now was a good book and company, so therefore, to await that company, she sat down somewhere on a ledge and pulled again "Love and Freindship" from her bag. She really needed to finish this book...

The letter that was owled by Darla's father was rather disappointing. He wasn't going to be there when Darla return. `Why is he always like that?` Darla thought her father was selfish, he was never there for her and yet he forced her to sit around the library with tutors since she was little, even Mason. After reading it, Darla fold the paper and place it back to her pocket. She grabbed her Chinese literature book and held. She spotted on a girl, a Ravenclaw sitting all alone and a pen behind her. She took the hair pin and tapped the girl by the shoulder "Is this yours?" She asked showing her the item, forgetting that she was speaking in Chinese.

Maybe, after she was done with this one, she could move on to another book by Austen, maybe... "Mansfield Park", or "Pride and Prejudice" maybe, after all, the film was quite interesting, but now, she really needed to get all her homework done and then finish this simple novella.
At this precise moment, while all her thoughts were entwined around this early work by Austen, a girl approached, took a pen from behind her - startling Maria in the process, and then the asian girl spoke to her, but perhaps due to surprise or maybe genuine incomprehension, the girl's words were impossible to understand. Falling back to defaults, Maria rose from her sitting position and curtsied to say: "I am sorry and I beg your pardon, but I did not understand what you were saying, could you please repeat that?" All this in perfect English, with a little New Zealand accent and a whiff of British-upperclass-ness.

At first Darla was quite surprised that the girl didn't understand what Darla said. Well of course, she was speaking in Chinese how could she understand her? But then again Darla had completely forgotten about that. "Am I not saying it correctly?" She said softly to herself and started being worried. "Oh my god" Again she babbled as she talked to herself, she began to be very worried. What if her English wasn't that good and her father found that out? She would have to attend more classes. Her heart started to race faster as she started to think about Edric, the dictator. She looked to the ground on her side as she started to breath faster. But remembering that she was talking to someone else, she shut her eyes and took a deep breath before looking at the girl in front of her. Darla was sure that the item belong to that girl, no one really visit this part of the courtyard. And if it wasn't hers then it was her lucky day that she got a free hair pin. "Nevermind" She handed it to her and took a few steps back. She had too many things in her mind and she forgot what she said earlier.

Tilting her head slightly, Maria wondered what she did to make the asian in front of her so nervous. The hyperventilation, the deep breath and gazing into the ground, they were all classical symptoms of nerves. Question is what was the cause for the older girl's distress. If it was Maria not undertanding her, then... well...
Maria felt her cheeks redden slightly but held her gaze firm, on the other girl. "I apologise for causing you distress, maybe if you could take a seat..." She suggested, hesitantly. Despite all her will to care in the world, Maria didn't get sorted to Hufflepuff, maybe it was her coldness and distant, formal ways to interact, but right now was not the exact time to discuss personality traits.
In the end, Maria decided to smile politely, and say: "It's ok, here, have a seat."

Darla sat as she took a deep breath, placing her book on her laps. "Am I pronouncing it wrong?" She muttered this time in English, with a Canadian accent. She grew up there, her father was a businessman and he had to work there for several years. So he brought his children beside to accompany him, Edric was sure that they could speak in English better if they were there than if they stayed in China all all alone. "Sorry for disturbing you" She glanced at the girl who seemed to be younger than her and a Ravenclaw. Darla had seen her around the Ravenclaw table, or was it other girl who looked like her. "Umm... I can leave if you want" She definitely didn't want to bother her, Darla couldn't imagine if someone suddenly interrupt her from reading.
