Wizarding shops in America. Winter vacation 2031.
Pure snow covered the ground and there was the occasional cold breeze that accompanied it. It was after all, the winter holidays that Benjamin Chase had waited for even before the exams happened. He disliked spending his time in Hogwarts without him having to do anything important. He understood that his stay in Hogwarts was for educational purposes, but for a thirteen year old, he surely hasn't had much friends. He knew numerous faces and not much many names, and he was certain that most of them had their own best buddy. He did not have any of those 'best buddies' but why would he settle for someone who would just slow him down in whatever he wished to do? Benjamin's idea of having a best friend was not as many people perceived it and he did not really care on how people would think of how his mind went. He was content with what he had and even if his social life's alive (in a way that he disliked either), he still knew some people that were acquainted him with him but those people he knew rarely came across him. Instead, those he did not fancy were the ones who had conversations with him. His mind reviewed those names whilst his hands held a pack of the Exploding Snaps game. His eyes skimmed over the description which told him to be cautious whilst playing with the cards. Benjamin wrinkled his nose and put the game back on the shelf, still thinking about the faces he knew because of the sour encounters he had with them. Some conversations unfortunately, were still stuck in his mind whilst the rest were just vague memories. Even though he knew that those talks he had with the people in his year were mostly bad and difficult, he kept up a shield of pride before him and eyed them arrogantly, as if he had won their last fight.
Only Arthur and Victoria accompanied the Slytherin. He wished that Isabela was there too, but it took him forever to even convince his father to take them somewhere else. Of course, with the help of Victoria's big and adorable puppy eyes, they were permitted by Arthur. Benjamin recalled thanking his dad but he knew that Arthur gave in just because of his only daughter's request. Benjamin glanced around and looked for Arthur who he found at the back of the store, trying to entertain Victoria's questions about some kind of game that was was certainly unfamiliar to the Slytherin. He tapped on Arthur's arm and asked permission if he could go outside and just roam around. The community wasn't really as big as the other luxurious places that his mother went to just to buy some garments. He found it odd that he was inside a shop for wizarding games which he really did not find entertaining as much. But the place was enough to keep him distracted from all the things that he had went through inside school. On the shelves were various board games that he did not really understand and there was even a section of games that were for muggles. With a nod and a dismissed wave, Arthur sure did grant Benjamin what he wanted and the Slytherin grinned at his father, before exiting the shop in only a matter of seconds. He did not want to stay in a place that he was not really into. Maybe if he could buy some food in one of the pubs then it would lift up his spirits. His lips were chapped and he licked them before another strong cold breeze would hit his face mercilessly. Although he loved the winter season, he was aware of its downs regarding its effects on his lips and his immune system.
He felt the snow crunch under his boots and he ignored the little flakes of snow on his coat. He was glad that it wasn't raining snow, or else he would be soaked and perhaps he would have another round of hypothermia which he tried to avoid whenever the winter season came along. A hungry growl came from the Slytherin's system and he scowled in order to keep himself from running towards the nearest cafe. But because of the hunger, his nose picked up the scent of food not so far away and he glanced at the structures to see which of them did the scent belong too. He continued walking and dragged his feet in order for him not to be stuck in the cold. Moving made the body warmer anyways, even with his coat on. The scent continued to waver in the air, along with the other smells which were more dominant. His green eyes spotted a pub where a continuous flow of people were entering, chattering and smiling with their companions. He supposed he would be waiting behind a line before he coud even get at least a sandwich or something and so he hurried his pacing until he was jogging. The pumping in his heart increased until he was running already, just to get himself hungrier. He looked up on the structures around him, trying to get a glimpse of what was inside. He increased his pace until it was a full run and he felt the sickles and some galleons inside his coat pocket juggle irritatingly. He was running, yes, and the presence of other wizards and witches were not really in his mind. That was until the familiar impact he had experienced lots of times hit him and he did not get a chance to look at who he had hit accidentally. "Damn this." The teenager muttered unconsciously, before catching himself before he could even experience an embarrassing fall in front of the person he had hit. He looked up - with his features obviously irritated easily and that was when he noticed that he had hit a girl for Merlin's sake. She looked about his age though he could not tell if ever she was younger or not. Benjamin ran a hand through his black hair and stepped back, ready if she would even try to argue with him. The scent of the food in his nose vanished and he felt a foul mood take dominance in his mind.
