Wizarding shops in America. Winter vacation 2031.

Pure snow covered the ground and there was the occasional cold breeze that accompanied it. It was after all, the winter holidays that Benjamin Chase had waited for even before the exams happened. He disliked spending his time in Hogwarts without him having to do anything important. He understood that his stay in Hogwarts was for educational purposes, but for a thirteen year old, he surely hasn't had much friends. He knew numerous faces and not much many names, and he was certain that most of them had their own best buddy. He did not have any of those 'best buddies' but why would he settle for someone who would just slow him down in whatever he wished to do? Benjamin's idea of having a best friend was not as many people perceived it and he did not really care on how people would think of how his mind went. He was content with what he had and even if his social life's alive (in a way that he disliked either), he still knew some people that were acquainted him with him but those people he knew rarely came across him. Instead, those he did not fancy were the ones who had conversations with him. His mind reviewed those names whilst his hands held a pack of the Exploding Snaps game. His eyes skimmed over the description which told him to be cautious whilst playing with the cards. Benjamin wrinkled his nose and put the game back on the shelf, still thinking about the faces he knew because of the sour encounters he had with them. Some conversations unfortunately, were still stuck in his mind whilst the rest were just vague memories. Even though he knew that those talks he had with the people in his year were mostly bad and difficult, he kept up a shield of pride before him and eyed them arrogantly, as if he had won their last fight.

Only Arthur and Victoria accompanied the Slytherin. He wished that Isabela was there too, but it took him forever to even convince his father to take them somewhere else. Of course, with the help of Victoria's big and adorable puppy eyes, they were permitted by Arthur. Benjamin recalled thanking his dad but he knew that Arthur gave in just because of his only daughter's request. Benjamin glanced around and looked for Arthur who he found at the back of the store, trying to entertain Victoria's questions about some kind of game that was was certainly unfamiliar to the Slytherin. He tapped on Arthur's arm and asked permission if he could go outside and just roam around. The community wasn't really as big as the other luxurious places that his mother went to just to buy some garments. He found it odd that he was inside a shop for wizarding games which he really did not find entertaining as much. But the place was enough to keep him distracted from all the things that he had went through inside school. On the shelves were various board games that he did not really understand and there was even a section of games that were for muggles. With a nod and a dismissed wave, Arthur sure did grant Benjamin what he wanted and the Slytherin grinned at his father, before exiting the shop in only a matter of seconds. He did not want to stay in a place that he was not really into. Maybe if he could buy some food in one of the pubs then it would lift up his spirits. His lips were chapped and he licked them before another strong cold breeze would hit his face mercilessly. Although he loved the winter season, he was aware of its downs regarding its effects on his lips and his immune system.

He felt the snow crunch under his boots and he ignored the little flakes of snow on his coat. He was glad that it wasn't raining snow, or else he would be soaked and perhaps he would have another round of hypothermia which he tried to avoid whenever the winter season came along. A hungry growl came from the Slytherin's system and he scowled in order to keep himself from running towards the nearest cafe. But because of the hunger, his nose picked up the scent of food not so far away and he glanced at the structures to see which of them did the scent belong too. He continued walking and dragged his feet in order for him not to be stuck in the cold. Moving made the body warmer anyways, even with his coat on. The scent continued to waver in the air, along with the other smells which were more dominant. His green eyes spotted a pub where a continuous flow of people were entering, chattering and smiling with their companions. He supposed he would be waiting behind a line before he coud even get at least a sandwich or something and so he hurried his pacing until he was jogging. The pumping in his heart increased until he was running already, just to get himself hungrier. He looked up on the structures around him, trying to get a glimpse of what was inside. He increased his pace until it was a full run and he felt the sickles and some galleons inside his coat pocket juggle irritatingly. He was running, yes, and the presence of other wizards and witches were not really in his mind. That was until the familiar impact he had experienced lots of times hit him and he did not get a chance to look at who he had hit accidentally. "Damn this." The teenager muttered unconsciously, before catching himself before he could even experience an embarrassing fall in front of the person he had hit. He looked up - with his features obviously irritated easily and that was when he noticed that he had hit a girl for Merlin's sake. She looked about his age though he could not tell if ever she was younger or not. Benjamin ran a hand through his black hair and stepped back, ready if she would even try to argue with him. The scent of the food in his nose vanished and he felt a foul mood take dominance in his mind.

Winter in America. Kialla sighed. Was there really any use to be here? She didn't think so. She never accompaied her gran on buisness trips but for whatever reason, Isla had requested that she tag along. She of course in a fashion very like her had thrown a sort of tantrem. Not a real tantrum like the ones a two year old had, but it was enough to ellicit a stern look from her grandmother which had immediately made her quieten down. They all feared Grandmother Mckay. She was slightly embarrassed by the realisation, but what more could people ask of her? She was scared and that was it. Hayley McKay was a very scarey person. That was just the way it was, the way it had always been. Then her Grandmother had told her that Isla requested she be with them on the trip. She could not say no after that. How could she? The entire point of the little episode was to ensure that she would not refuse her sister. As much as she hated the idea, she knew she could do nothing to discourage the discision. She fastened her jacket and looked out the window near the door. She could see the sheet of snow and ice that had formed overnight on her door step. She didn't like ice, or snow. Even though she lived the majority of the time in Scotland, it never seemed to get this cold. She shook her head and opened the door, shivering as the freezing cold of the air hit her face. She pulled the hood over her head to atleast give alittle protection from the severe coldness that was searing her as if it were hot. Se supposed this was what it must have felt like to have dry ice on your skin, of course this snow was not burning her, not really. It was just nipping at every inch of bare skin it could get its claws into, to use some form of Anthropomorphism. Kialla stuffed her hands into her pockets and started down the road, closer to the shops. She was hungry and wanted to eat somewhere that was away from her infuriating family.

Continuing down the path, Kialla kept her head low. She somehow wished she had asked for Isla to accompany her. There were any amount of roughians out here that she would have to be careful not to run into. Not to mention all the muggle borns that would undoubtedly be around. She weaved in and out of people, snearing at those who looked at her. She was shorter than most of the crowd being only twelve, but who cared? She was allowed out here. It wasn't like there were any laws against it. And even if there were, no one would dare to say anything once they knew who her grandmother was. No-one. She scoffed and walked faster. Though she had noticed that she had no idea where she was going. It was probably going to mean that she was going to be lost. She would have to figure out where she was later. Not paying attention to where she was going which of course meant that she ran into someone. Almost being knocked to the ground Kialla grabbed onto the closest thing she could, which unfortuntely was a person, a Mudblood no doubt. Pulling herself up Kialla growled at the thing and turned back to the person who had run into her, noticing that it was a boy and that he was rather... annoying and she didn't even know him. How irritating. "You stupid Mudblood. Watch where you are going. Didn't your parents teach how to walk properly?!" She yelled at him, pulling her hands out of her pockets and placing them on her hips. "Who do you think you are walking into me like that?!" She was terribly lost, sho she was irritated but she was also angry because this stupid mudblood had walked into her, how inconsiderate of him.

The chances of falling to the snow were quite possible so Benjamin stepped back in order for him to regain his balance and let the person he bumped into fall on the snow instead. Inwardly, he smirked at how he was doing and he hoped that she would fall down... Hard. But before he can even inhale the cold air surrounding them, he felt a tug on his coat. It was a strong tug and it brought Benjamin down a small bit. No doubt it was the person he bumped into, tugging onto him for safety. Instead of just falling down with her as well, he staggered backwards and mentally cursed himself for not being as careful as he should be. But he soon forgot that easily and his green eyes watched the witch hit the snow with a small impact. He thought that it did not hurt as much, since she had some outerwear on her to protect herself from a strong impact in case she was face down on the snow. Benjamin watched the girl and observed her anyways. She was not bad looking really, but he had no idea how to distinguish hideous from pretty, to stunningly beautiful. He was only a young teenager after all, and girls were not really his top priority nowadays. He had been focusing on his own reputation ever since Hogwarts decided to give out a worthless magazine that contained rumours and the like. She was young, he could tell decisively. And he funnily thought that their hair color was the same. Obviously. He did not utter a sound and he let his eyes look at her unabashed with a raised eyebrow. He knew that he was going to be with have another match of that heated talks with people he had no clue off. Arrogantly, he thought that it was easier to win a match with young and haughty brats.

The mood changed swiftly, making it heated with some tension. The Slytherin did not make a move to talk first and he just watched her put her hands on her hips. He knew he was not going to like this and he really had to admit, it was mostly his fault. Not everything, but most of the part. The scent of the food that was wavering in the air tempted him to run in the first place because he hated to keep his stomach waiting. Benjamin held his breath for some haughty comeback that he ordinary heard but the wind was knocked off from him and he simply stared at her with shock. That foul and vile term was just directed to him. He was never called that in his whole life hence, she was the first ever person throw that insult at him. The nerve of the girl. The Slytherin felt himself become defensive all at once and he narrowed his sea green eyes at her. "Why don't you watch your own way? You could have avoided me in the first place!" Benjamin felt his own voice rise angrily. Ah, another argument for him. He came to spent his holidays in peace and there was he having an encounter with some girl who even had the nerve to call him such a vile term. By Arthur's sword, he was a pureblood! And his family had been one of the purebloods who had started keeping a low profile ever since one of them wanted tried to put their family politics in danger. And now, he wanted to refer to the way he called him a Mudblood. He thought of a string of curses in his mind and he faced her, taking a step towards her tauntingly, but not too close for him to be awkwardly standing in front of her. "Tsk tsk, calling random people Mudblood is not really a brilliant thing. You don't know, you might be already referring to people who have superior blood compared to yours." Although he said this, he had no idea that this girl only had the same blood as his. He took pride in his blood status and he used it as a defense to others he disliked. Others took it as something stupid and they thought that blood supremacy would not reign any longer. The teenager contradicted that idea though.

He wanted to utter some foul words at her and he could not help but sigh inwardly at his misfortune to even come across a princessy type of person. Not to mention, her voice was incredibly high when she screeched at him. He obviously knew that, but he did not expect it to beat his eardrums that hard. "B!tch." He uttered, barely above a whisper without any second thought. He looked at her squarely in the eye and answered her question which he thought only came out because of her irrational thinking. He was irritated but perhaps not as much as the girl. People who thought highly of themselves were loathed by the teenager, but he knew that he was quite a hypocrite by the thought. "And who do you think you are shouting at me like that eh?" He answered back with the same level of anger in his tone. He did not like the girl. Not one bit, that was for sure. Well anyways, he rarely had good encounters with people he would first meet. It would end up as another disaster, he knew.

Kialla growled inwardly. It was definitely not very ladylike of her, but in this moment, she could not possibly have cared any less for her values or teachings. True, had Isla been accompanying her, she would have reacted very differently, though not necessarily, Isla had once insulted some Price guy through Owling him. Though he had first owled her. She shook her head, trying to keep her cool, but if there was one family trait each Smith and Mckay shared, it was a quick temper. Which was rather unfortunate when it came to having arguments, more often then not, Kialla lost control of her temper and was punished. One thing Grandmother Mckay was very adamant about, was learning self control. Try as she might though, Kialla still needed more lessons than the others, perhaps she was more like her mother than she cared to admitt, either way, she was not going to be happy with it. She looked at the boy currently standing across from her. Flames almost danced in her eyes as she looked at him. Her anger was apparent in not only her eyes, but her stance. Her Grandmother had told her many times that if she could not win an argument, she should use her status, that was what she was going to intend to do. Her Grandparents and Parents were well known in the magical world and she was from a powerful Pure blooded family. She was not just going to stand here and be insulted by an inferior being. She couldn't believe his nerve. He was being so obviously childish. He was completely ignoring the fact that it had been he, to have run into her. She scoffed and snorted. Not ladylike at all, but still effective.

She sneered when he told her off. It was not up to her to be watching where she walked. She didn't think the blame should have fallen completely on her. Whatever this boy was thinking, he was completely off the mark and she was not going to stand for it. She tapped her foot and glared at him, she may only be twelve, but she had attitude. "ME, Look out for YOU?! I think not!" She told him furiously, shaking her head and gritting her teeth. "It is not my job to be watching everyone elses movements when I have my own to worry about!" Who did he think he was, screaming at a Pure blood. Poor idiot. When her fathers hears about this, there was going to be hell to pay. Arguments. She really did dislike them, she didn't really ever win, so she tried to avoid them, besides, it's not like they were very lady like anyway. The superior blood comment however, was enough to set her off. As if he thought her to be anything other than a Pure blood. Did it not radiate off her like Royalty? Was that not practically what she was. Royalty. "Superior blood status? I don't think so! There is no higher blood status than that of Pure. Are you that stupid? Would you be one to consider Mudbloods as a Superior blood status. For the likes of you being one?!" She told him, shaking her fist at him. Though it was more to denounce his notions, in which, she found ludicrous.

His insult of B*tch, did not show his intelligence in the least and she simply turned her nose up at him. "You are an uneducated Cretin." She offered, glowering. She was already bored of their argument, but she was prepared for it to continue, as she was sure it would. At home, the siblings never fought, they were too afraid, most of the time. Rachel and Parker had both argued at one point, with Hayley's views, now no-one, ever saw them anymore. She had heard that Parker was now a father, but she had never met the child. Nor would she want too. It was not a Pure of blood child of the Smith lineage. Even their squibs were wiped out. She knew for a fact that there were a few muggle born children out there that were related to her family, through the Smith Squibs. Not that they ever would admitt it of course. This guy is unscrupulous. I do not understand him at all. She thought as she crossed her arms and simply stared at him. Now he was asking who she was? How dare he. How could he not already know. This was unbelievable, she was definitely going to set him straight, right now! "I'll have you know, my Grandmother is Hayley Mckay. You know, Matriarch of the Smith/Mckay's?" She had calmed slightly, but still not enough to warrant a calm tone. "Who the hell are you?"
