Emmy had a generally happy childhood. She grew up with loving parents; her father a writer for newspaper columns and online forums, her mother doing admin at a Plant Nursery. However, when she was 8 years old, while hiking with her parents, her mother met her untimely end when a hunter thought she was a wild animal. Emmy was fussing about going to sleep, so her mother went out to find more firewood while her father pacified her - until they heard the gunshot. Following that, Emmy's father tried his hardest to keep her happy and being a mother as well as a father. They kept up traditions and hiking and grew closer through their grief.
