The Restricted Section was quite unremarkable in Hemi's opinion. It looked like the rest of the library except unkept and abandoned, the light was dim as the cobweb covered candles remained unlit, dust settled on books which looked untouched for centuries, and there was a pungent smell. It was that musty, old book smell, the smell any literary buff would adore but Hemi didn't like. Hemi brushed his index finger over one of the old books to demonstrate how dusty the books really were, leaving a defined streak on the cover. He pulled a face before blowing the dust from his finger.

"AAAH-" An overwhelming urge to sneeze took hold of Hemi quite suddenly but in a desperate attempt to hold it he held his nose. It was unsuccessful. "-Chew" Hemi looked apologetically at Lawrence then to the door. They might remain undetected but he couldn't be sure.

<FONT font="verdana">The first thing that Lawrence noted was the smell, and it was rather welcomed. The Ravenclaw loved to read, and the smell of old books reminded him of home. He began trying to read the spines of some of the higher books, as they were more comfortably eye-height. He left Hemi to his own devices for a moment, before a colossal sneeze caught his attention and he snapped back to look at Hemi. He smiled at him slightly, and patted his back. The intense silence of the room seemed to make the sudden sneeze louder, but it also accomplished making the room seem less threatening than it otherwise had. Hopefully they were alone in here, however, because he wasn't sure an older student, or worse, a librarian would appreciate them being in here.

"It's really dusty, isn't it?" he wasn't sure why he was whispering, but it felt appropriate at the time. His brown eyes looked closer at some of the thickest books he had ever seen, and a finger stroked several spines in order to read their titles. Some were still unreadable, with tarnished spines and faded words. He was beginning to get butterflies, though he wasn't sure if they were from being nervous, or from being excited. Perhaps a mixture of both. "How many books do you think're here, Hemi?"

Hemi froze for a few seconds, his eyes fixed upon the door they had come through. He anticipated a reaction to the sneeze before reminding himself that no one spotted them in the whole time they had been trying to gain access and probably wouldn't notice a sneeze either. It could've come from anywhere. Hemi decided it was safe to return to business, withdrawing his attention from the door and back on to the dusty books.

"I dunno," Hemi shrugged in response to how many books they were surrounded by, "Erm maybe fifty?" He replied, plucking a random figure with little thought. If you hadn't noticed, Lawrence was much taller than Hemi and could see the titles well beyond the Gryffindors reach. "Any good books up there?" He asked, failing to find anything which grasped his imagination on the lower levels as he browsed the isle. It didn't help that he wasn't interested in the books in the first place, he just wanted to break in and mess around. "Hey look at this-" He said quite suddenly, calling Lawrence over to his find as if it was exciting. "Someone left a half eaten apple core on the shelf!"

Lawrence wasn't sure of the amount of books, but he doubted that fifty was the answer. He continued stroking the backs of the books, but his young mind found nothing of interest. It looked like a potion book there, a old history book over there - he wasn't sure what he had been expecting, but it seemed like they were just in a smellier, stuffier part of the library. "It all seems... well, really old, and complicated." Which was to be expected, really, but it was still a little disappointing. This seemed to be a case of the hype being better than the real thing, but still, it was rather awesome that they got in. A story to tell, if anything. Beside, perhaps cooler things could be found the further they entered. "I'm not even sure we'd be able to understand any - ew!" His nose crinkled at the apple, being a rather cleanly person. "That's gross. Some people don't know how to use a bin."

It really was rather vast, and the Ravenclaw soon had to brush his finger against his robes because of the collection of dust he had gathered through stroking the backs of the books around them. He had, along the way, pulled out this book or that, but nothing really caught his eye, or the images within were a little spooky and he automatically, and carefully put them back and moved away from them. "Hey Hemi," he called, looking at his Gryffindor companion. "Do you have areas in libraries like this in the muggle world?"

The apple core was gross, Hemi speculated whether it had been tossed aside by the same person who left the password to the restricted section lying about for two first years to discover. He walked on, leaving the fruit untouched for future visitors. "Yeah! We have similar styles of libraries in places but different books, muggle books." He relied to the Ravenclaw's question, "The muggle world has this thing about the size of a piece of parchment" He mimicked the size with his fingers, "Where you can store a hundred books. It's called a kindle." In many ways the muggle world was way ahead of magic, they had found excellent compensations for lacking in magical powers, always inventing and improving. As much as Hemi enjoyed Hogwarts, there was no innovation and he thought it strange.

Stefan didn't usually have to stay late at work, only on certain occasions did he have to, the man had however been given the late shift, to help clean up and ensure that no one entered the restricted section of the library. Stefan had never had any trouble like that ever before and so was very surprised as he was making his way through the library heard a sneeze distinctly coming from the restricted section of the library. The man made his way slowly over to the section, knowing it might've just been a book, or something strange and of that nature, or even just a ghost which he knew sometimes lingered about the library, but this turned out to be true as he realised as he ventured further into the restricted section that he could hear young voice, although as he walked over to where he could hear the voices and then made sure to face them, one of the boys was very small and the other very tall, although they were both clearly young students by how they sounded, "Excuse me, do you have permission to be in here?" he asked them, looking between the two students waiting for some kind of response but feeling like he was probably going to have to take these students to their respective head of houses.

Lawrence had never left the magical world, mostly because of his size. It was hard to hide among muggles - especially when all of his siblings were just like him and his father was such a small man. Part-giants didn't exactly blend into muggle society very easily. So naturally, he could envision what it was Hemi was talking about at all. "A kindle? Like a flame?" he asked, eyebrows knitted together as his imagination did its best to take note of Hemi's hands. A book that could store hundreds of other books sounded amazing, however. "It sounds really useful."

In the back of his mind, he had been worrying about being caught, but seeing how far they had already gotten, it sort of slipped his conscious mind. It was suddenly snapped right back into his consciousness, however, when he heard them being spoken to. He froze, and looked at Hemi, before slowly turning around to see one of the librarians behind them. He had absolutely no idea what to say, or do. "Um..."

They had beat the odds! Two first years had broken into the Restricted Section with enough time to have a decent look around before the librarian had noticed. Hemi wondered what might've given them away and in truth, their conversation had gradually been getting louder as they started to forget they were breaking a single school rule.

Hemi jumped when he heard a mature voice which definitely didn't belong to his giant friend. There was little either boy could do other than face the librarian, any opportunity to run and hide was long lost now. "Um well," Hemi was as speechless as Lawrence but someone had to answer the librarian. "We didn't know we needed permission to be in here?" He replied, hopefully they would be let off with a warning, Hemi was usually pretty lucky in that respect.

Stefan looked between the two students, perhaps a little daunted by the tall one, but help firm as he glanced between the two, "In any case you guys are going to have come with me to your head of houses," The man told them both, motioning with his hand for them both of them to follow him out of the restricted section of the library, "Right what are your houses?" he told them, holding open the door to the restricted section of the library, needing this information before being able to lead them to their respective head of houses, and even if they lied about it, the man would still be able to lead them to someone and find out from those people. Stefan appreciated that students wanted to find out more wanted to do more research, but they needed to get permission and written note from a professor, there would be no point in a restricted section of a library if just about any student could get in.

Dam, Hemi was sure playing dumb would save them on this occasion but the librarian didn't react as the eleven year old had hoped. Perhaps ignorance wasn't such a good excuse after all.

Hemi groaned when the librarian said they were going to have to visit their HOH. Hemi had been so fortunate to avoid any sort of official reprimands until now. "I'm a Gryffindor," He replied reluctantly, "And uh - Ravenclaw," He said, gesturing to Lawrence. He hoped Lawrence wouldn't mind Hemi giving his house away but they didn't have much choice.

Lawrence was completely devastated at having to be taken out of the restricted section - he knew that it was not a place to be, obviously, but he had hoped to get in and out with minimal trouble - but now they had been caught. Even Hemi trying to give excuses didn't work - the librarian had seen right through them. Sure, perhaps ignorance wasn't exactly curseproof, but still, it meant something, right? Even if they had known what they were doing, and that it was wrong. He looked down sadly, chewing the inside of his mouth as the librarian spoke.

He nodded as Hemi informed the librarian of his house - glad that he hadn't bothered lying, because it would be obvious either way. He smiled meekly at Hemi to try and give a show of solidarity. They went in together, and they'd go out together. The door was opened for them, and it was time to face the music. He shrugged at Hemi and smiled once more, and left to be taken to his head of house.
