Beth was feeling more than a little self-conscious because the Gryffindor didn't really like to wear dresses, so she didn't have too much of a variety to choose from when she heard the Yule Ball was coming up. She wanted to ask her dad to buy her one, but it seemed like such a frivolous thing to waste money on, so she decided not to ask after all. Instead, the eleven year old decided to wear clothes she already owned for "special occasions" and pulled them out from the depths of her trunk. It had taken quite a bit of ironing and lint rolling to get the clothes looking presentable, but in the end Beth had pulled it off. They looked as good as ever. Beth wore a light blue dress shirt and a dark blue blazer above it, but true to her style, the first year paired her outfit with elaborate high tops and felt her outfit would suffice for the event. She had even combed back all of her hair into a neat little bun on top of her head. Without all of her curly unruly hair flying everywhere, Beth felt like she looked perfectly presentable, despite her shoes.
Still, as she entered the Yule Ball, she couldn't help but tug at the spiked collar of her shirt and wonder if she should've just asked for a skirt or something when she saw how all the girls were wearing dresses. The Gryffindor stared and looked around for a while, feeling out of place and hating that she couldn't just ask her dad to buy her new clothes that would probably only be worn once like this night and then never again. But after a while, she decided to stop dwelling on that and focus on having a good time. She had told herself that she was not going to let her money problems get in the way of doing what she wanted. Despite feeling out of place, Bee liked her outfit, and it suited her perfectly, so she was going to own it with confidence. The Gryffindor walked out onto the dance floor and began to dance without a care in the world.
