There was something about this country that made Astarte Snow just wrinkle her nose in disgust at it. She missed France with all of her being. The very pale girl rested in the shade under a tree while she waited for her parents to come and see her, as well as give her some money to get something as a treat for the break. She looked forward the summer holidays even though when she went back to France, it would be winter there. Astarte hated all the season flip flops. It made her want to go to Hogwarts Scotland, but her parents went here, and her father taught potions here. Therefore, she was somewhat stuck. There was nothing she could do to convince others that she would be better off in another school. Sure, she made some friends, but that was not something that she wanted to do in case she got up and left. Astarte sighed as she looked into her book, while her white snake curled around her neck. She did love snakes, as much as her mother, but did wish that she could speak to them. That was something she yearned for, but could not learn it. Oh well.

After her parents came and picked her up, she was able to scope out some of the area where Durmstrang was. Her mother brought her to the location of where they would be releasing students, after handing her a very warm jacket. Astarte made sure that her snake was very warm, before going into a local café, and ordering a hot cocoa. Anything bitter made her very unwelcoming. Her mother was nearby, but kept her distance in case that Astarte met someone from Durmstrang. This was a very popular location for the students, and Astarte wanted to see if she could fit in. With her blood, it made her very attractive, but at least she did not have a drop of muggle blood in her history. Astarte cupped the hot chocolate and sipped it. She heard some students come in, and her emerald green eyes looked in their direction.

<COLOR color="#000">"Look Tanner, I'm sure she'll forgive you eventually. It wasn't like you purposefully meant to stick a couple of puking pastilles in her juice." Devereaux tried to comfort his friend, a charming smile slithering its way onto his lips. The smile lasted few seconds as Tanner decided to throw in the fact that it had been all Devereaux's fault to begin with as he was the one who put them in there. "Psh, details." Devereaux waved his cousin's statement off before he adjusted his jacket and pushing on towards their usual hangout. Devereaux really looked up to Tanner. After his parents died when he was younger, Tanner had been the first person to really attempt to get Devereaux to open up. Ever since they had been close to inseparable. Despite being cousins, they didn't look too much alike so most people just assumed that the two were close friends. When they arrived at the café, Devereaux opened the door and waited for Tanner to walk inside before heading in himself.

Devereaux ordered a few glasses of butterbeer and practically tossed one of them in Tanner's direction. Taking a large gulp of his own, he started towards the table the pair usually sat at. Their friends often came later, so they always took one of the larger tables in the back, where no one would care if they got a bit rowdy. As he neared the table, he noticed an unfamiliar face standing next to the table. Although she was sitting, the fact that she was right next to the table was enough to get Devereaux's attention. Not to mention she was kind of pretty. Devereaux nudged Tanner's arm, trying to get his attention. "Are you new to Durmstrang or something? Haven't seen you around here before." Devereaux took another large gulp of his butterbeer. He could see that the girl was drinking hot cocoa. Maybe when he was finished with his butterbeer he might talk her into sharing some of it with him. As long as she didn't karate chop him in the throat, he figured nothing bad could happen from just asking.

As much as Astarte wished she could go to Durmstrang with some of her other family, it seemed as though she was best suited under her father’s eye. Why, she did not know. She might have had a tempter, but it was not as bad as her mother’s. Astarte resembled her father more than her mother, besides maybe in looks. Her green eyes wondered down to the hot chocolate before taking another sip. It was better than anything cold right now. Nothing could bother her. That is, until she heard a male’s voice. Her green eyes turned to the direction of the lad, before looking him up and down, without even hiding it. Except there was no smile on her pale lips. Instead, she looked at the boy as if he grew an extra head. And he had a brother with him. They were both older than her. She knew better though. She could definitely not take them on if they were not above hitting a girl. She better be on her best behavior. The last thing she wanted was her mother to burst in and start killing. Although that would be kind of fun.

"I am just visiting. Checking this place out to see if it would be a good place to go to school," replied Astarte in a cool voice. She was very envious of those that attended here. Everyone here had magical blood with little muggle influence. She hated muggles, only because she was raised to hate them. They destroyed everything. They were the reason why magical folk had to hide! "Although," now she wanted to see if they were quick tempered, "perhaps I was wrong since even older students have to be watched by their siblings. I suppose not everyone can wear their big boy pants." A hint of a smirk rested on those pale lips. Now, how would he react? Astarte hoped that it was going to be negative. Then she could definitely have her familiar, or serpent companion, bite him if needed. The snake wasn't venomous. It would just hurt like crazy.
