Maia was quite busy. She had bought lots of food, and some clothes today. She was still recovering from her run-in with the "Dark Wizard."-she didn't think he was a death eater, as he had worn a short-sleeved t-shirt. She had needed plenty of food, as she hadn't been in her apartment for a while. Also, she needed some more summery clothing, as she had never really shopped for New-Zealand style clothes since she had moved there a year ago. She looked across the street, her perfectly straightened hair falling across her face. It always amused her how different she looked when she straightened her hair.

Lately everyone had been treating her like an invalid, which annoyed her. She felt that people looked down on her, because she had lost that duel. Hell-she looked down on herself for losing. She had applied to be an auror, but had lost in her first serious duel. Admittedly he was older than her, still she felt she should have done better. She had stopped a good few of his attacks and seen through some of his tricks, but Maia didn't see that. she saw the failure.

As she was walking along, thinking to herself a man, taller than her, older than her, and rather grumpy ran straight into her. He hit straight into her and began grumbling about people watching where they're going. Maia fell as he hit into her and dropped all the bags. Pain shot through her side, but she ignored it. She stood up and began to put things back in her bag.

Jack was in a good mood today. He was sure to pass exams. He had a short visit to his parents house and saw his little brother and talked to his pregnant mothers tummy, something that excited him greatly. Jack was knocked off balance when some guy bumped into him, they were around the same height so Jack did not fall, he looked around 6'5, Jack being 6'1. But he was not impressed, and was annoyed even more when the guy ran into another person, this time knocking the woman down, he even muttered about how she should have kept walking. After he had just done the same to Jack. “Ridiculous idiot...” Jack muttered, than got on his knees to help the girl pick up her things, he was raised to be polite and helping.
“Are you OK?” He asked, putting the rest of her things in her bag and helping her up.

Maia was still picking up her things when a hand reached down, to help and then picked her up. "Yeah, I'm fine, thanks." Maia smiled, pushing her hair out of her face. The boy was very, tall. Blonde hair, nice eyes. She smiled at him and held out her free hand. "Maia Purdue." She smiled up at him. He was taller than her and she had to tilt her head to look at him. -He's cute.- Maia mused.
"Thanks for that, I wasn't really paying attention." she laughed, she knew she had done nothing wrong, but felt that she would sound stupid, grumbling about it. She began to walk away, hoping that the guy would walk with her- she hadn't made many friends here, since she had moved there a year ago.

Jack smiled when she said she was fine. It would have been terrible if she were injured or something, she may have not been able to walk or anything. “Thats good, your welcome.” Jack said with a kind smile. He had not noticed that she was pretty until she pushed her hair out of her face. “Jack Kaster, nice to meet you Maia.” He said nicely. Jack felt the need to laugh when he saw how much taller he was than her, it was rather funny when he met people and he towered over them, thought sometimes he could accidently walk into people.

Jack laughed. “Obviously that guy wasn’t either.” Jack said, not going against what Maia said. Jack knew it was not her fault but it would be better than talking about falling over. When she started walking Jack walked with her. He had nothing better to do and it would keep his mind off his missing brother. Even Jack was starting to worry and that was something that did not happen, but his brother had disappeared, without his wand. “So why are you here might I ask?” He asked looking at the shops as they continued walking.

"Nice to meet you too Jack." Maia smiled, her eyes sparkling. He seemed nice, but she wouldn't let him know that. "Obviously." She agreed, laughing. She looked back toward the place she had fallen, to make sure she hadn't left anything on the ground.

He began to walk with her and Maia smiled. She looked back at him and flashed him a grin. "I'm shopping, I was in an.... accident?" she stated, matter-of-factly she still wasn't sure what to call it. "I was in hospital, lost weight etcetera etcetera. So, I needed new clothes." She added, with a smile, gesturing toward the bags. He was looking at the shop windows, and Maia observed him- he had nice eyes. "May I ask you the same question?" She replied, a glint of curiosity in her eyes. Maia's eyes were her greatest tool-though she didn't know it. They were very expressive. She began to slow her pace, as she realised that she was walking a bit fast for conversation.

Jack was slightly curious. Maia didn’t seem to know whether or not to call her experience an accident. “An accident?” He asked curiosity evident in his voice. Usually if someone was in an accident they knew to call it an accident so Jack wanted to know why Maia was not sure what to call her experience. “In hospital?” He asked again. His curiosity getting the better of him. Sometimes Jack could be a little too curious and it tended to get him into trouble. He did not mean to be curious it just happened. Jack laughed slightly. “I am here because I have to buy birthday presents for my little brother and sister, their birthdays are in August and if I dont start now than I will never get around to it.” Jack explained. The problem with having many siblings was nearly every second months he had to go shopping for birthday presents. Then Easter came around and he had to buy a truck load of chocolate. After that Christmas came around and he had to go all the way to his parents house and help set up the house in Christmas lights. Than get all the presents he had bought before-hand to the house so they can be unwrapped. It could be quite annoying having a big family. Jack had just gotten on-top of the shopping, only to remember that he had forgotten Tamalia and Samual. “If I forget I die, it is simple.” Jack explained with a shrug, laughing slightly. He was sure the two of them would not hesitate to tell his parents, who would probably kill him for forgetting about his family, Jack hated it when his parents used the guilt card.

"Well, more a stupid-drunk-wanna-be-death-eater-attacking-you.." she sighed, then as he asked about the hospital she continued "He used the cruciatus curse, I had to be hospitalized", in answer to his question. She smiled, making light of the incedent. She ussually would've made something up, but she got the feeling he was one of those rare people, who could see through her. She smiled at the thought, ussually it was easy, making someone think something else-a trick she had learned as a child. It helped when you loved it, acting, drama.., but really anyone could do it. "What age are they?" she asked, smiling at up at him, she loved kids, and had always wanted a younger brother or sister. She closed her eyes, as a warm ray of sunlight shone on her face. She smiled in the sunlight, absorbing it's warmth. That is what she loved most about New Zealand, the warmth of the land, the weather and the people, though she was a little wary since her "accident."

A cloud passed over the sun, and Maia's eyes snapped open, just in time to hear Jack's comment. "Very simple." she grinned, her eyes laughing. "Are you from around here?" she asked, looking the blonde in the eyes.

Jack nodded. Jack did not hate Death eaters, but he did not like them, he disliked certain Death eaters but that is as far as it went, he did not discriminate against them. Jack shook his head. “No offense but it was kinda dumb to fight a guy that is drunk. They dont think and use everything they have without mercy or second thought.” Jack explained. Jack never drank so much that he became drunk. But he had seen some of his friends do it and they were quite a challenge, some of Jacks friends were angry drunks. Jack laughed slightly. “The two Im buying for are 12 and 10.” Jack told her. He decided to not confuse her with his huge family of names. Half the time people thought he made it up as he went along, he had so many siblings with so many personalities and quirks that it was hard to keep up if you did not grow up with them. “They maybe young but if I forget about them they will destroy my life.” Jack said jokingly. Though he knew they probably would drop out of school just to annoy him for the rest of his life. That was the kind of siblings Jack had to live with.

Jack laughed, than shook his head. “Nahh I just came here to drop by my parents place to drop all this stuff off, and look for my brother.” Jack said, the last of his sentence had a touch of worry, he hid it well so Maia may not have noticed, but there was a slight chance that she had. Jack never liked worrying but his twin brother had been missing for months, without a trace. Jack knew his brother was smart and a powerful wizard but Jack had found Ben’s wand in his bed. Which meant Ben was missing, without his wand. Anything could have happened to him so Jack was looking everywhere on the globe. He had not thought to look in Bulgaria in a muggle pub, the place where his brother had perished.

Maia smiled, she knew it was stupid. "I know, but I didn't think, I should have apparated." she replied, looking at the ground, she hadn't been proud of it, but she had gotten angry, a stupid, senseless thing to do. She quickly shook off the morose look off her face, she didn't want anyone seeing the other side of her, the small, pathetic little girl side of her. She looked back at Jack, a serious look on her face. "I won't do it again now, a mistake, a big one, but I've learned from it." She looked ahead, thinking things over. Even a complete stranger had seen the fault in her actions. She would have to, have to be better. No-one could ever hurt her again, mentally, physically, any way at all.
"So not too hard to buy for, just imagine how hard it would be for a teenage girl, though one of them is just off the "terrible teens"" she laughed, using her hands to illustrate the inverted comma's. He laughed, Maia was slightly amused, but kept a straight face. Then she noticed an aspect of the conversation, with a slightly more serious topic, maybe a child missing? "You're brother?" she asked "What's he look like, I'll keep an eye out." she added, concerned. She knew of children in England who had gone missing. It had been hell for their families, maybe the same thing was happening to Jack?

Jack laughed slightly. “You should have.” He agreed. Jack did not think her stupid. She just did not think for that one moment in her life. Besides once in a huge duel with someone it is nearly impossible to think of the right spell to say to get out of it, you are too busy not getting shot with something. “Dont beat yourself up over it.” Jack told her. “There is no point, it is in the past, so you were put in hospital, at least you can still look people in the eyes and say. ‘I did not kill anyone’” Jack said. Maia did not seem like someone who enjoyed killing someone, in fact she looked like someone that would feel guilty over it for a long time.

Jack laughed. “I have two other sisters who are in the ‘terrible teens’ though the younger one is easy, she loves anything book related. But Tess is a nightmare on heels.” Jack explained rolling his eyes. “She also happens to be a perfectionist, which means everything has to be perfect.” Jack continued. Tess could be a pain to shop for, if the gift he got her was slightly off or something, no matter what it was Tess would not be able to stand it. Jack knew it was not entirely Tess’s fault. But it was still annoying and frustrating. Jack thought about it for a minute. Jack and Ben were twins but there were still slight differences. But it was still always awkward describing him. Usually he would say that he looks just like him but with long hair and worry lines. “Well, he is my twin brother.” Jack explained. “So like me, but with slightly longer hair, freckles and some worry lines.” Jack finished. Ben worried about alot of things, maybe too much to be healthy. He was also too kind and stubborn for his own good. Two traits that got him killed.

Maia smiled, her head tilted to the side. Thankfully he had not laughed at her, she had prayed he wouldn't. "I won't." she grinned, "I could never kill someone, I'm too much of a softie." She replied, her eyelids low over her eyes. "I wouldn't be able to live with myself." she added. -He laughs a lot- Maia thought to herself. She liked that, nowadays too many people were too serious and never had a laugh. she liked people who could take life as an adventure, didn't let themselves get down, god knows she did it enough herself, taking things too seriously.

Maia smiled. "Hey, teenage girls aren't that bad! I'm one aren't I and you've been talking to me for the past while. Have I caused you any grief yet?" she teased, grinning at him. "Heels? That's easy-ask the shop assistant." she grinned She remembered the presents her Father had bought her-she had hated them. Still, she put on a show and her and her mother had dispaired of him, but she loved him all the same. She nodded her head, noting what Jack said."Worry lines? okay then." She had a picture of the boy in her head. She would look out for him. "I hope you find him, I'm sure he'll be okay." she spoke kindly, her voice soft. She did hope he found his brother. It was the first time in the conversation he had sounded anything but carefree, and Maia could guess that he was worried.

“I wouldn’t kill anyone unless I was seriously angry, but no matter who they were I would probably feel really guilty about it and try to find their family.” Jack explained. “And probably apologise, than apparate away before they murdered me also.” Jack added.

Jack laughed, she had not met Tess. Jack knew Maia was a girl, it was hard to miss. But Tess was Tess, and a demon. “You have not met my sister, once you do you will have an entirely different opinion.” Jack explained, he was sure Tess and Maia would probably get along. Tess seemed to be the nicest person on the planet when the person she was talking to was not Jack. Jack laughing, it had become a habit lately, even though he was slightly worried about his brother, Jack had meet some seriously funny and strange people. “I did, she looked at me weirdly.” He explained. “And I dont know her size.” He added. Jack hated shopping for Tess, the good thing was he was not shopping for her this time. “But I need something for a stubborn 12 year old.” Jack told Maia. “A very stubborn and animal loving 12 year old.” Jack added. Tamalia loved animals, Samual was easy just a riddle book or something similar. But Tamalia was stubborn and did not appreciate Jack doing something she did not like and Samual could be quite annoying. Jack smiled slightly, trying to tell himself not to worry about his slightly older brother. “He is probably doing something important and just forgot his wand or something.” Jack said, it seemed that he was telling himself more than Maia. In a way he was subconsciously. “Thanks.” He said smiling slightly.

Maia was a little worried by the fact that he would even consider killing someone, but she knew that anyone would, under certain circumstances. "Yeah." she replied, her smile diminishing slightly. He laughed again and Maia joined him, without even knowing why, it was infectious. "She's your sister, of course you think that!" she grinned. "I bet you don't mind all teenage girls." she teased, winking. She felt the same way about boys, they were very confusing, very funny, nice, terrible, mean, sarcastic and adorable all at the same time. She smiled at Jack, he didn't seem terrible or mean. That was a change for Maia. "Now that's what I call great customer service." Maia replied, nodding her head with fake seriousness. He mentioned that her sister liked animals and Maia mused, her head leaning to one side, and her hair hiding her face. "I know!" she suddenly exclaimed, "Okay I assume you've put two and two together and decided against a pet? Well, there's this thing that I used to have when I was younger. There's loads of them "sponsor a horse" or "sponsor a dog" you're sent a letter telling to how your animal is and also pictures. It's a yearly thing, you pay every year and you "own the animal." She explained, in a rush, she liked buying presents, and was good at it. From the way it looked Jack seemed to need all the help he could get.

Maia was alarmed when she realised the boy was without his wand, she hid it well and asked, seemingly casually, "How long has he been gone?" She smiled at Jack re-assuringly, she couldn't even begin to comprehend how hard it must be, when someone you love goes missing without explanation.

Jack shook his head. “I dont think that, I know that, and half of my family agrees.” He insisted. The only people that said that Tess was an angel was his mother and his eldest sister, they were both very nice and very sweet and helping women. Always trying to help and never getting angry. The two did have tempers but Jack had never seen them get angry just annoyed. “Oh yes I hate them.” Jack joked with a small laughed. Jack had to admit sometimes girls could be really annoying and stubborn but overall most were really pretty and very funny. But Durmstrang was not known for its awesome girls. “Yes it was brilliant service.” Jack said rolling his eyes. Jack laughed. “Tamalia likes the pets that creep people out, same with Sam but anyway she likes bats and all those other creepy things.” Jack explained. Tamalia had that bat well trained but it was still disturbing when you sit down reading a book or something and then have a sleeping bat in front of your face just hanging there, and Tamalia’s bat slept with its eyes open which made it all the more creepier. “Her bat sleeps with its eyes open and just hangs there, do you know how weird that is?” Jack asked. “She also had a spider and scorpion and a snake once.” Jack said shaking his head. “She would purposely place her snake near Samual’s mice and the two would start fighting, than Samual would come to me and complain.” Jack explained. Sam was 10 and Jack was the most frequent sibling at the house so he went to Jack to do something, but what could Jack do? Nothing, he couldn’t yell at her or smack her all he could do was try and persuade her to remove her vicious and evil snake. “Is there a ‘Sponsor an evil spider’?”Jack asked with a small smile, he was serious even if her sounded like he was joking. Jack was extremely grateful, he had been wondering around for ages. Tess was slightly easier because Jack knew the places to look, it was just whether the object he got her was perfect, but Tamalia was quite an unpredictable girl and hated getting overly expensive gifts. Jack could have bought her millions of things if she did not care about the price being very big. “Well that make my life easier.” Jack said. “Thanks.” He added. Jack could be pretty hopeless at times.

Jack thought about it for a few minutes. Ben had said that he would step out for a few hours but now it had been a few days. “A few days.” Jack said. Jack refused to worry, Ben would go off at Jack for worrying over nothing so Jack had decided that if he had not found his brother after a few weeks than he could start tearing his hair out of worry. Jack was not sure how to worry, though he was sure he was starting. Jack travelled and missed classes but he had never missed a whole week because of constant apparating and looking for someone, let alone his overly cautious brother. “But he is responsible and smart so I am not tearing my hair out.” ’Yet’ Jack finished the sentence as a thought.

same, and Xmas gives you less and less time

"I'm sure." Maia grinned, her eyes slanted. She smiled at Jack. "You're lucky really, I wish I had more family.." she trailed off, it was something she had wanted for years, a family. She no longer had the same connection with her parents, since she moved to New Zealand, though she still spoke to her mother practically every day. She smiled up at Jack, he was lucky, by the sound of it he had a very large family. She laughed along with him, as he spoke. "I like this girl." Maia grinned, "Way to avoid the stereo-type girly-girl. Still, girly-girls can be fun to hang out with at times." Maia smiled. She grimaced at the thought of the mice. "Ohhh, nasstyy." she cringed. That was nasty, but clever-still, nasty. She put on an expression of fake musing. "Hmmm, not sure, maybe a "society of prevention of cruelty to Vampires?" she laughed.

Maia was a bit worried, when she heard his brother had been missing for a few days. She put on a positive face, and answered "I'm sure he will be fine, I mean he is responsible and smart, as you say." Then, deliberately lightning the mood, she added. "So, I'm guessing you guys are polar opposites? Considering, he's smart and responsible?" She laughed, smiling at him, with her eyes twinkling. She wondered what had happened to his brother, was he okay? How hard would it hit Jack if something had happened?

She began humming, one of her favourite songs- Pack up- by Eliza Doolittle. She walked in time to the music, looking in at shop windows, as she passed. Looking down the street, she saw that the sun was high in the sky, and the road was quite packed full. A girl was skipping, a boy was playing football and a mother was holding bags, while shuffling children along. "It's a lovely day." she commented, as she half-skipped along.

Agreed :p

Jack nodded. Tess was a nightmare sometimes and everyone who lived with her for long periods of time knew it, she was pushy, exaggerating, nagging, arrogant, cunning, aggressive and very girly and could be greedy at times. Jack knew he was lucky to have so many people to depend on, but sometimes he thought it would be easier to have slightly lease people around you that you know like the back of your hand, sometimes knowing people too well made you fight with them. “It can get really crowded though.” Jack explained. If someone who was not used to a large family suddenly got one, they would feel unneeded and cluttered. Jack laughed. “Do you want her?” He asked. “Because we will let you have her as your sister, but she is non-refundable.” Jack told Maia, laughing afterwards. “Says a girl herself.” Jack said rolling his eyes. Jack laughed. “Tamalia would probably be the leader of such an organisation.” Jack told her. Tamalia was stubborn, controlling and liked power to help her help others, she was a weird but she was his sister so he couldn’t expect too much could he?

Jack nodded, he knew that the girl couldn’t exactly say that Ben was going to die, but it was always nice to know that someone that you did not know too well was trying to help you stay positive. “Yeah he’s a total genius.” Jack said. Ben was quite smart but Amanra was brilliant, though there was no point in mentioning Amanra or Jack would be there all day talking about his whole family and how different they all are to one another. Jack laughed. “Thank you, nothing like being called irresponsible and stupid to help the confidence go up.” Jack joked rolling his eyes.

Jack listened to the pretty girl start humming, he had no idea what the tune was from. Jack tapped Maia on the shoulder just after she commented on the day. It was sunny and bright but Jack was getting sore feet, he had been walking for ages. “Do you want to sit here?” He asked, pointing to some tables that sat under little umbrellas.

Maia laughed,"I'm sure you stand out enough, you're pretty hard to miss, seeing as you are extremely tall." she used her hands to measure how much taller than her he was and held out her hands to him, so he could see the difference. "You see?" she smiled, and added. "I feel very short." she put on puppy eyes and a child-like lisp as she spoke.Upon Jack mentioning buying his sister, she immediately pictured him , standing in the street, holding a "sister for sale" sign. She looked as though she were considering it, but shook her head, "Nah I don't think so- how would I feed her? As my mother always says, a sister is for life, not just for Christmas-Unfortunately she used that to dissuade me from taking in stray puppies." she laughed, clicking her tongue. "Of course I do! I may be a girl, but I'm not blind. Are you making assumptions Jack?" she asked, her head tilted, her eyes dangerously slanted, she was messing, but would Jack know?

"Happy to help Jack!" Maia grinned, she was glad he had taken it as a joke, but many people didn't and took it as an insult. He rolled his eyes and Maia laughed. she crossed her eyes and looked at him, it usually made people laugh, when she did this. She had been able to cross her eyes since she was a child. She un-crossed her eyes and looked up at the boy beside her. "So, if you're not from here, where are you from?" she asked, her long-buried English accent returning somewhat.

As Maia was still in her small daydream, Jack tapped her on the shoulder. She turned around, her hair whipping against her face, her eyes shining. "Sure!" she grinned, turning toward the tables, and sitting in the shade, leaving her feet in the sunlight, where they would warm.

Jack laughed. “I am not tall, you are just really tiny.” Jack countered. How was she so sure that Jack was tall? Everyone else could be tiny little people. Of course Jack knew he was tall but that did not mean he couldn’t call people short and himself average height. “And I never said that I did not stand out.” Jack reminded her. “You should.” Jack said looking off to the side. “You are quite small you know.” He added patting her head. He was joking around with he as he often did with people. “She would find herself food.” Jack reassured Maia, laughing afterwards. “Yes I am.” Jack said. “Girls gang up and guys, it is a well known fact.” Jack explained.

Jack once again rolled his eyes. “You are so helping Maia.” He said sarcastically. “What would I do without your help?” He added laughing afterwards. He was happy that the conversation had left the subject of his missing brother, he hated thinking about it let alone talking about it. “I was born in England and grew up in Australia.” He explained. Jack’s parents used to move around a lot so nearly all of his siblings were born in different places, it was rather odd, Jack was logically English.

Jack smiled and pulled out two seats, sitting down himself and finally resting his sore feet. Because Jack was quite tall he was prone to a sore back and sore feet, sometimes being tall was very annoying but with some simple spells it was easily fixed.

"Not tall?" Maia smiled, questioningly. "Shame, I like tall guys." she added, nonchalantly. She looked up at him, and smiled. Then he patted her on the head. "That's bullying!" she exclaimed, and poked him. "I could sue you-for verbal assault." she added, with a flash of a joking grin. She looked at Jack quite seriously then, and asked. "If she is so resourceful-why are you trying to sell her off?" she asked, looking very serious indeed, as though having an in-depth conversation. "I am at quite a loss, as to why you are laughing- I am quite serious." she added, but couldn't hold it anymore, and began laughing too.

"I know, I'm a regular Mother Teresa." She smiled. "I know this one!" she exclaimed, in false thought, she prepared her answer. "You would continue walking, without interesting conversation, get drunk, make some new "friends" who would then shave your head, when you passed out!" She answered. "How'd I do?" she asked, winking.
Maia grinned up at the remarkably tall boy and answered. "Same, except, I grew up in England, and I moved here a year ago." Her moving from England, was not a happy subject for Maia, as she had left in disgrace-for something she hadn't done.

Jack pulled out Maia's seat, and she sat down beside him. "Tired?" she asked, they had been walking for quite a long while, and Maia had just noticed the slight tinge in her muscles that one gets after sitting down, after being active for quite some time.

Jack nodded. “Yes.” Jack laughed. “I like short girls.” He told her laughing once again, he was mocking her, but not in a rude or mean way, just playful mocking. Jack laughed. “Oh what ever Tiny.” He said rolling his eyes. “I could sue you for disturbing the peace, kidnapping and assault, take that you criminal.” Jack said. Maia was being quite loud, she had kidnapped Jacks time and had poked him, all very serious charges in Jacks laughing eyes. “Because I want to prove you wrong, that Tess is not a nice person and a few days with her will tell you the same thing.” Jack told her, laughing at her next statement but not commenting on it.

Jack laughed and shook his head. “Terribly, I dont drink to get drunk, I dont randomly start drinking with complete strangers that would make me drunk and I dont pass out. I hold liquor extremely well thank you.” Jack informed her. “Try another one.” Jack told her laughing. “Besides if I was going to die of anti-conversation than I would just apparated to one of my friends and drag them down here, simple.” Jack added shrugging and looking down at Maia with a face that read: ‘Know it all’. Jack nodded. “Why the sudden move? The sudden climate change must have been annoying to deal with, so why bother?” Jack asked. Jack had lived in Australia nearly his whole life, so going from Bulgaria to New Zealand was very easy for him because Australia was far hotter than the both of them. But England and New Zealand were quite different when it came to weather and heat and the cold.

Jack nodded. “Slightly.” He said. Carrying bags was not a past time, though it was soon becoming one. Jack had been making friends lately and around this time of year was the time when most birthdays that included him came around, which meant he had to go out shopping again and earn more wonderful blisters. Jack really loathed blisters and wondered how non-magical people like muggles and his sisters could handle them.

"How do you know, from up there- everyone must seem short." Maia retaliated, poking him again. "Tiny!" she exclaimed. "I resent that!" She looked at him cynically "How am I disturbing the peace, or kidnapping- the last one I'll give you, but the other two make no sense." She laughed. "Sorry then, I can't buy her- we wouldn't want you proven correct would we?" she giggled. She was shocked at Jack's speech, but decided that she must beat him.

"Hmmm, slightly more difficult.... I know!" she turned toward him, index finger outstretched, pointing at his chest, as his face was quite high up. "You would walk, lonely, meet a girl, talk to her, date her, marry her and then find out that she is actually one of your many relatives, lost in the family tree.. until now." she smiled, not sure if her story was alright, but she was thinking on the spot-she deserved some credit. The look on his face was clearly outlining what he was thinking. "Don't look at me like that.." Maia trailed off. "Fine then, if you're so great, figure out what would happen to change my life, if I hadn't met you today?" she smiled, wondering what he would come up with.

She sighed, knowing that the question was coming. "There were.. complications in England- your average Romantic, Exciting, terrifyingly British story. Betrayal, deceit, Love, Hate, and Friendship staring yours truly, Maia Purdue." she smiled wanly, knowing that her false-enthusiasm wasn't very realistic. "I came to New Zealand because, well, because I was used to Ireland and France, I wanted a change. New Zealand is a centre for the wizarding community, it seemed a natural move." she added, as an afterthought.

"Same." Maia agreed, stretching out her feet beneath her, then leaning on her elbow, her head leaning on her hand. It was a habit of hers, that she had been doing since she was a child. "I hadn't realised how long we'd been walking." she commented.

Jack laughed. “Because some are very short, like you, while others are sort of short, like her.” Jack informed her, pointing to a girl who was slightly taller than Maia. Jack laughed again. “You should, tiny...” He teased, messing her hair so it became a fluff ball. “Aww, I ruined your hair, unless you like the mad scientist look.” Jack commented, laughing as he poked her hair. “You are talking, and you are kidnapping my time, so huh.” Jack said, quite irrationally, through a laugh. Jack gasped. “That is a horrible thing to say, you must understand that I am always right.” Jack told her. “Never ever am I wrong, because that would be horrid.” Jack concluded with a nod of the head.

Jack rolled his eyes. “Although it is possible for me to have mystery relatives.” Jack told her. “I doubt I would randomly run into one and marry her.” Jack concluded it was possible but highly unlikely. Jack smiled. “You would walk annoyed because of being pushed over by a random dude, walk faster right into an open door then wake up in hospital five years from now and find out that you went into a coma.” Jack finished, quite proud of his weird but possible story.

Jack nodded. “Sort of like Romeo and Juliet.” He said, it was not really a question just an example. Jack nodded again. “I came here because I could.” He told her, he had also come here because of his parents but if they were not here he still would have come, just because he could. Jack was like that adventurous and somewhat careless.

Jack laughed slightly. “Nor had I, hate how time flies.” He told her, sometimes time flying too fast was annoying because you missed important things too soon.

OOCOut of Character:
Gosh such a horrible post :erm:

"Fine then, you can go and talk to not-so-short girl then!" Maia joked, rolling her eyes. She looked over at the girl, he was right, she was taller than Maia. "Hey!" exclaimed Maia, ducking, and trying to fix her hair. "Maybe you should try it, you're half way there anyway!" Maia replied, smoothing her hair. "Amadan.(fool)" she reverted to Irish, a language she had learned as a child. Giving up on her hair, she took out a bobbin and tied it up. It looked nice enough, and the ponytail was high on her head. "Meanie." she said, as she smoothed her hair once more.

"I'm talking-so sue me, and I doubt kidnapping time is an criminal offense." Maia laughed, then continued. "Anyway, I've never had any complaints about my conversation, and people tend to like me, though I have had to get some people to leave me alone." Maia stated truthfully, not a hint of vanity in her expression. "Always right? Always?" she asked, her eyebrows raised. "I doubt it." she laughed, and tossed back her hair. "Horrid? Very English aren't we?" Maia teased, stepping sideways, to avoid any retaliation.

"Ahh, but you admit it is possible!" she grinned, pointing at him once more. She liked his version, but wouldn't let him know that. "Hmm, well it's possible, but I doubt a former Ravenclaw would get so mad, we're known for our level-headedness, but then again, I was always the black sheep." she smiled, poking fun at herself. "Yes, I suppose it was.." she drifted off, but in this case, it was more of a tale of betrayal, than star-crossed lovers. "Nice answer." Maia complimented him, a much better reason than hers. She should have lied, said that she had come her for adventure, but somehow, she couldn't.

Maia smiled at him. "Why's that, I always think that the best memories go fast, like half the fun of remembering them is the bitter-sweet partings, the short, exciting, exhilerating times. If life moved slowly, what would happen to all the fun?" she replied, she knew she sounded a little.. stary-eyed, but Maia was a natural dreamer, she never lived rarionally or reasonably.

“Fine I will!” Jack said pretending to walk off, he wouldn’t leave Maia right in the middle of a conversation, that would be rude and mean. Jack laughed at her reaction. “Yep, exactly like Tess.” Jack said mockingly as Maia tried to fix her hair. Jack rolled his eyes. “Nah mad scientist is not my foretay.” Jack told her, then laughed when she spoke Irish, he had no idea what she said but he was positive it was Irish, though he couldn’t be sure. “Different languages now huh?” He asked. “Eh bien, je pense qu'il serait difficile de communiquer si nous parlaient des langues différentes ne pense tu pas?*" Jack asked in French. Jack learnt French when he was 10, he was going to attend Beauxbatons but decided that if Tessa was going then they weren’t and they went to Durmstrang instead, Jack did not however learn Bulgarian because he felt he knew enough languages. Jack laughed when Maia called him a meanie. “Well since I am such a meanie.” Jack told her and pulled her hair out and once again messed it up.

“You would be surprised at what is and isn’t a criminal offense.” Jack told her laughing. “Some?” Jack asked smugly. “Only some?” He continued in his smug tone with a smug smile. “Well everyone loves me.” Jack joked laughing. It was quite true Jack was a loveable person and was extremely hard to stay angry at, even Tess couldn’t hate him for more than a few minutes but since Jack kept going she would find new hatred to hate him with. Jack nodded. “Yes, to put it simply, I am always right, no matter what, even if they dont know it.” Jack joked. “Well you shouldn’t, because im right.” Jack told her, poking out his tongue. Jack rolled his eyes. “Well I was born in England but grew up in Oz.” Jack told her, when he said Oz he meant Australia, though to his surprise not many people knew what he was talking about.

Jack rolled his eyes. “Highly unlikely.” Jack said crossing his arms across his chest. “Told you, I am always right.” Jack said simply, with a smug smile. Jack wondered what had happened to Maia, but knew it would be rude and nosey to suddenly inquire about her past, and so dropped the subject.

Jack smiled. “Well isn’t someone a dreamer.” He said laughing slightly. “I just think life would be better if you were able to enjoy the fun times longer.” Jack said simply. “And it the boring or bad things went just a little quicker, then life would be easier dont you think?” Jack asked.

Code* Well I think it would be difficult to communicate if we spoke different languages dont you think?

Maia laughed, then quickly pretended to look upset when he turned back toward him as she fixed her hair and decided to keep an eye out, in case he tried it again. "Is that a bad thing?" she asked, laughing. She looked at him sceptically and replied; "Well, it's not mine either, so if you would please refrain from messing up my hair..." He laughed at her, and she stuck out her tongue. Then replied, in French. "Eh bien c'est pas la chance que je parle aussi le français?"(Well isn't it lucky that I also speak French?) she smiled, mysteriously. She ducked, when he messed up her hair again, but he still got her. "Blah!" she exclaimed, poking him. She put her hair back up. "You see, you have now wrecked my chances for the day. I may meet my soul-mate, but he won't want to talk to me-because my hair is messed up!" she joked. She smoothed over her hair once more, and poked him in the stomach again. She turned away from him, as she fixed her hair, and decided to keep a watchful eye, in case he did it again.

"I would be, except for the fact that I know many people are glad to have me kidnap their time." Maia smiled, truthfully. She pushed him, when he teased her and asked. "I'm sure there's someone, who doesn't like you?" she looked at her watch, it was early, she had plenty of time to talk to Jack. "Yes, well I'm accustomed to being right also, so you shall have to share." she stated simply. She looked at him, deciding to play upon his choice of words she asked. "So are you the lion before or after the wizard?" she looked at him quite seriously.

"Still, possible."
she beamed, glad she had caught him out. "Yup, you just hold onto that." she replied, sarcastically. She was glad when the conversation moved on from her past, it wasn't one of Maia's favourite topics. She smiled at Jack, guessing that he had realised that it was a sore subject.

"I suppose I am, but imagination is all part of the job isn't it?" she smiled, and explained. "I'm an actress you see." She mused over her answer and replied. "Yes, but if the bad times were faster, things would be harder to figure out." she smiled, her eyes misty.
