Sam Prince sat on a large root jutting from the groud on the great lawn of Hogwarts. The very tip of his muggle pen was pressed against the parchment on his upright knees leaving a slight dot of ink beside the word, 'Dear'. After talking with Taylor recently, Sam got the idea of writing to his parents. He hadn't spoken to them once since he left London all those years ago. And for awhile, he missed his black labrador Vader, more than his own parents. He used to believe his parents hated him, but now five years later Sam, thought differently. No parents could actually hate their children right? The fact that they didn't keep in contact wasn't all their fault, it was partially Sam's too and he asked himself, what was the harm in writing to them? If they didn't reply, it didn't matter, he would leave the ball in their court.
Sam's clear blue eyes drifted from his letter to his siamese cat, Yoda who was hissing at a young students owl. "Yoda. Cool it," Sam knew his cat well and he knew that that wasn't enough. He waited for the cat to pounce and just as Yoda took a step forward, Sam quickly and easily took him in his arms. Yoda, lay on his stomach and stretched up his chest casually, innocently. Sam took his small head in his hands, "See this is why we don't go to the Owlery." A small smile played on Sam's lips as he spoke to his cat. He waited for the boy and his owl to pass before moving Yoda off his chest. "Alright, buddy if you don't mind I have a letter to write." Sam placed Yoda down beside him and in just a few short minutes, the cat had found itself a comfortable spot on the grass.
Sam turned back to his letter. What does one to their parents after four years of no contact. He sighed impatiently as the same thoughts crept back into his head, 'What if they didn't want his letter?', 'What if they really did hate him?' and 'Did they even miss him?'. Sam mentally shook these thoughts from his head just as quick as they came in and just decided to write the letter without thinking. It was the best way to do things, Sam had always thought. Things came out more honest that way. As Sam furiously began to write his letter, Yoda had crawled away, creeping silently after a butterfly but he was too absorbed in writing his letter to even notice the disappearance of his cat.
