Kara sat down at her desk in her bedroom. It was time to send an owl to Daniel with the details of her birthday party. Plus, she wanted to talk to him about school too. Picking up her quill, she began to write on a piece of parchment paper.
Placing her quill back into her ink pot, she waited for the ink to dry before folding the letter nicely. She walked over to a wrapped brown parcel on her bed, it had the items she had listed in the letter; a black quill, some ink, a few pieces of parchment paper, and her copy of The Phantom Tollbooth. Kara placed the letter inside on top of the parcel and wrapped the whole thing in a string, securely. She went downstairs to the family owl, Petey, and sent the package off to Daniel, feeding the Petey a treat.
Dear Daniel,
My dad has encouraged me to start writing with quill and ink more for practice. If you notice in the package I have put an ink bottle and quill. I had extra and wasn't sure if you had any, so I am sending you some. Also a couple of pieces of parchment paper.
My birthday party is next month and it is mostly family. It will be very simple and I am glad you will be coming. It'll be at 2 pm on March 14th, it's a Sunday. The party will be held at Tākarokaro Park in Brightstone Village. It's a wizarding village, have you ever been there before?
I put my copy of The Phantom Tollbooth in the box, in case you wanted to borrow it. It's my favorite book and I hope you enjoy. I look forward to hearing from you soon and if you want to get together before my birthday, I am sure we can arrange that!
Signed,
Kara Munn
P.S. This is my family owl, his name is Petey. He is nice and loves cranberry snacks.
