it was the valentines dance. but for the first time ivy didnt feel like spending time in the great hall with the music and the people and the dancing. sure she would find it fun. but she wanted to talk to Naveen see how he was and hope that she hadn't embarrassed him completely with her rose. and that was better done somewhere quiet. or at least quieter. Ivy and Naveen had been to the dance but only long enough to get a plate loaded it up with food and brought them outside with a goblet of the fruit punch.
It was lovely outside, the air a nice temperature that wasn't too hot but cool against the skin as the light shifted to dusk. The courtyard was not dark by any stretch of the imagination, lit by a web of fairy lights hung up above them to give the place a dreamy fairytale air, and (ivy suspected) in a way to encourage students from hiding in the shadows making out.
the two third years found themselves sitting on a bench a little out of the way Ivy put her plate down next to me and looked at naveen. "I saw Dhivya earlier. she said you received my rose. are you okay?" she asked feeling slightly guilty that she had spontainiously sent him a pink one out of the blue. and hoping it hadn't made him worry too much.
