Ana Sofia was excited for the valentine's dance. Sure, she hadn't made any plans and didn't really think she already liked anyone in that way but it was a dance nonetheless and in her mind dances could only mean one thing: fun! She had been way too excited to wait for any of her friends, to see if they even had plans or whether they could go together so instead she had made her way directly towards the great hall when she finished getting ready. As she walked in the first thing Ana's mind did was look at people's outfits, see what they were wearing. She was truly in awe of some of them, wondering if she could ever manage to get her hands on a dress as pretty as those. Maybe when she was a little older. Definitely when she was older. And if not she'd just get a simple dress and decorate it herself to make it look special. She was sure she could do that. For now she was content with the outfit she had on though, getting herself a quick drink before heading on over to the dance floor. Ana mingled herself inbetween some of the dancing couples and just started happily jumping around herself, even if her moves didn't exactly fit the music she didn't have a care in the world. As long as she was having fun she'd be good.

Sawyer hadn't really thought about going to the dance tonight. He'd been rather content taking advantage of the fact that everyone was busy to get some time alone in the arts room to play piano. He enjoyed being at school, but sometimes it was all a bit nosy and crowded and he liked having time to think. After awhile even that had gotten a bit boring and Sawyer found himself wandering over to the hall, the dance still in full swing. He spent a few moments lingering by the edges when he spotted Ana bouncing among the dancers, stifling a smile at her dance moves.

Sawyer spent a few moments more watching before making a decision and crossing the dance floor, sidestepping another couple and nearly colliding with Ana and her bouncing. "Uh hey, digging your dance moves," He said, giving a sort of half-hearted bob along with the music. "Thought the bouncing looked a bit more fun as a group activity though?" Sawyer wasn't sure what he was doing now that he was out here, was he asking Ana to dance? Or just let him hang out with her while she did? It was all a bit daunting and Sawyer wondered if maybe he would have been smarter to just stay in the music room.

Ana Sofia had been happily dancing away inbetween all of the other kids on the dancefloor. She had noticed some others dancing with friends but there were definitely couples as well and even though she was jumping around, twirling and in general just moving her arms a lot she tried her best not to get in their way. She didn't want to ruin any of their moments dancing together. She quite enjoyed watching them actually. Especially since a lot of them just seemed to be having a good time together, which she felt was infectious. Ana was scared that even when she tried to be cautious in the chaos that was her dancing she had almost collided with a couple. She was slightly relieved though when she realized it had been one of her classmates. "Thanks!" She beamed at Sawyer, happily continuing dancing, if it could be called that, even when the next song was a fair bit slower than the previous one. "You're welcome to join!" She added after a small twirl. "Or keep doing what you're doing now, whatever makes you happy really." Ana smiled, genuinely meaning it. She didn't care if he would just keep calmly bobbing like he seemed to be doing now if he decided to stay, content with the company irregardless of whether he'd dance as energetically as she did or not.

Ana didn't seem bothered by Sawyer's awkwardness, which he had to find admirable, along with her energy to keep dancing like she was while talking to him. He was feeling a bit tired just looking at her, but her energy was pretty infectious. "I'll see if I can keep up," He offered gamely, doing a small twirl to match Ana. He couldn't quite keep up with her energy, but it was still fun to bob around, though Sawyer was a lot less enthusiastic with his arms. "You could probably been a decent keeper with moves like that," He said when Ana swung her arms, letting out a huff of amusement at the motion.

Ana laughed when Sawyer said he'd try to keep up, wondering how long he'd be able to do so. Then again she had by now reached the point at which she had started wondering how long she'd be able to keep up dancing like this herself. Her energy was bound to dull out sooner or later. "A what?" She asked, toning down her dancing a little bit so she could at least talk to him without her hair bouncing back and forth in front of her eyes. "Oh you mean like quidditch!" Ana answered her own question when it had gotten through to her. "I'd be way distracted way too easily for that." She laughed thinking about it. "Do you play?" She asked curiously. "Quidditch?" She knew one of her friends had managed a spot on the hufflepuff team but that was about as far as her knowledge on who was on what team goes. In all honesty she hadn't even been to a match yet since she started at hogwarts. Back at home her dad was usually the one who'd keep her updated on what was going on, so it'd feel a little odd to have to keep track of it all on her own.

Sawyer was relieved when Ana slowed down some. He wasn't anywhere near to being as enthusiastic in his own dancing as her, but just looking at her in full swing made him feel tired. "No, no, a short attention span is a great quality in a keeper. You get too focused on one thing and that's when the bludgers get you," He said, miming a smacking motion with his hands. "Uh yeah, just an alternate though. But as a keeper, so you know my assessment's legit, aye," He said with a small smile. Sawyer didn't consider himself the biggest quidditch fan, he still preferred playing gobstones, but it was funny to think Ana hadn't immediately thought of quidditch when he'd mentioned it.
