Character's Name: Damian Horowitz
Character's Birthdate: 31st October 2033
Blood Status: Muggleborn
Hogwarts House: Gryffindor
Appearance: Damian stands about 5ft 2in, or about 158cm. He wears his brown hair short, with not much of a fringe to hide his clear green eyes.
Personality: Damian has a fairly forward personality, and dislikes wasting time skirting an issue. That said, he is also given to observing a situation before interferring; he is also (despite being introduced to the magical world) a decidedly logical person.
Family: Damian's mother Scarlet is a former science teacher, who while raising the young Damian ensured he got a good many books about science, imparting upon him her natural curiosity and the habit of questioning anything to death. At present, since her son is off studying decidedly unscientific magic, she is contemplating going back to teaching as her husband is generally off rabbiting about the world in his "little boat".
His father, Andrew Horowitz is a serving officer in the Royal Australian Navy, captain of the Hobart-class destroyer, HMS Sydney. From his father Damian gained a love of the seas and the world, having grown up listening to his father's stories of his experiences at high seas and visiting exotic ports around the world. He finds his son's magical ability to be a bit of lark, but he's taken it into his strides. He and Damian have agreed to exchange stories once they both come home.
Damian also has one elder brother. In defiance of the "family tradition" (and much to the horror of his father) his brother, Alexander Horowitz applied with and currently serves in the Australian Army in 16th Aviation Brigade. Currently posted overseas, Alex finds his brother's sudden magic to be absolutely hilarious, and looks forward to seeing what magic his brother can do.
History: Born to a mostly military family, Damian has spent a long time listening to his brother and father's stories about serving overseas. But perhaps of their address in downtown Sydney, his father's tales of serving on the seas has always struck a chord with him over his brother's descriptions of flying his helicopters.
His mother however, has always realized that her younger son had a very keen mind, and would much prefer if he followed in her footsteps and did something rather more scientific. As such she took full advantage of being the sole parent raising him for most of his youth and piled him with books about science and the natural world.
Until the letter from Hogwarts turned up, however, Damian was pretty sure he was set on being either a scientist or enlisting with the Navy. Now, with a third path opened up to him, the young boy is fairly interested to see what he can do on this third road.
