The first History of Magic class had already proven to be more interesting than he'd thought it would be. Clearly his mother had been skimming some of the material because he'd read ahead in all of his books and he'd heard nothing of horcruxes. So clearly she'd removed them, which... he wasn't sure why she would do that, but he was sure there was a reason. Never-the-less, he'd done some reading on them now, and it had made his so curious, curious enough to approach the professor he'd been warned off of approaching. He didn't see what the big deal was, the professor had said to come and talk to him if he had any questions, and well, he had questions, he was curious - strictly from an academic standpoint of course, he wasn't about to go out for some first hand knowledge, but he liked to know things, he liked to understand things, this was one of those itching curousities he sometimes had that he needed to scratch. What could the professor tell him about them? He was intrigued. He really wanted to know. The door was open as he arrived, he assumed the professor himself had probably only just arrived and so he knocked on the door to announce himself. "Excuse me Professor Borisyuk, sorry to interrupt you I had a couple of questions about the introductory lesson for sixth years?"

@Professor Killian Borisyuk

After the first, and only, class that Killian Borisyuk had to teach, he just entered his office and removed the robes so that he could be in his casual clothes when there was a knock at his door. Killian paused when he heard someone's voice through the door. He didn't recall anyone having questions for him at any point, but alas, perhaps he could see what was going through this student's head. He walked over to the door and opened it, the big and small one swung open together. His green eyes looked down at the student, and did not seem to remember him from the previous year. 'Right, transfers are a thing,' he thought. "Sure, come in and have a seat." Killian gestured toward one of the normal sized seats in his office, as he decided to just lean against his desk. If it weren't for a powerful sticking charm, it likely would have moved because of his weight. "What questions did you have?"

The much bigger than he was used to furniture was kind of cool, and Elio took a moment to look around at the room, a bigger space than he'd seen before, as he entered. As the big professor leaned against his desk and gestured to a seat for Elio to occupy, he did so, not wanting to stand there for too long incase it annoyed the man. After all, he didn't know anything about him really and whereas most of his classmates had at least a year with him under their belt, Elio did not. "Well, Professor, you mentioned in class about Horcruxes, only I've tried finding books on them and the only real book of substance I could find in the library was a history book about Harry Potter, and it barely mentioned them at all." He said, frowning slightly, unsure if the Professor was serious about whether or not he would explain. "I was curious, I guess, because it seems strange to me that they should be mentioned but for there to be nothing on them. I just like to know things, Professor, what exactly are horcruxes?"

His eyebrows raised when the new student mentioned that he had tried to find information about horcruxes. 'Oh f**k,' Killian thought. Maybe he should not have mentioned them, but he didn't expect students to just ask about them either. Most didn't care. He always mentioned them in passing, his own thoughts and whatnot. "Horcruxes, from my understanding, are dark objects where you can store a piece of your soul in, so that you can cheat death." He knew about them but never the method or anything like that. He went through the class and was top of the class in his Durmstrang year - and for a reason. "That's why you won't find any of their information here at the school. They are incredibly dark objects that no student should ever consider researching." Killian's tone was stern over it, since he knew to do it, one had to split a soul, and to split a soul - well, he was not entirely sure but he had a few theories on how to split it. "But it makes sense on why someone like Voldemort would use one."

Store a piece of the soul? The information had Elio's eyebrows shooting up into his hairline. He figured it was something pretty bad given there was almost no information and the only thing he could find had to do with Voldemort which was already pretty bad, but, that sounded ridiculous, how could someone carve out a piece of their soul and have it exist outside of their body? That didn't make any sense to Elio at all. "So because Voldemort stored a piece of his soul somewhere, he was able to survive when Harry Potter killed him?" He'd read that much and it was pretty common knowledge for most witches and wizards these days, assuming they paid any attention in history. He had to image these days that the Potter's were pretty secretive, or maybe in hiding. That last name probably spelled trouble for a lot of people. "Why don't we cover something like that in school?" It did seem prudent to him that it be something kids could understand, how else were they supposed to understand the world they lived in if they didn't know everything about it? Elio couldn't understand why people wanted to hide knowledge, it just didn't seem like it was a good idea. It should be available to everyone, at leas that was what he thought.

"It is possible that he used them, but the fact that we don't have Death Eaters and that no-nose man running around seventy years later is proof that he is dead, and remains dead." Killian was certain that the dark lord had been vanquished a long time ago. People like him would have been targeted by now because of his genetics, though he was not sure why. Part-giants could very well be dangerous. Giants took more Aurors to take down than dragons. That alone spells out the danger. "That subject is darker and less seldom used than, say, the Unforgivable Curses. It is a subject of taboo, which is why no one goes over it. You won't even find them in the Restricted section." Killian would just point that out now before Elio might have asked to venture out there. "Besides, we have people just splitting their souls all over the place and becoming corrupted by some of the darkest magic known to wizard-kind just because they were curious. Just know that they are dark, evil, and don't venture down that path if you know what's good for you."

Elio frowned, honestly the explanation sounded a little like bullish*t. Didn't the Ministry have an obligation to teach kids about the dangers of dark magic before they got themselves somehow stupidly involved. It wasn't like Elio was about to walk out and try and split his soul, he didn't even know how and honestly who the heck would want to live forever anyway, that sounded like a curse more than the soul thing. "That honestly just sounds like they want people to walk head first into danger without understanding what they're in for," he frowns. "Why bother mentioning them if there's no way we can learn more? How is someone supposed to understand history if half of it is shrouded in so much uncertainty. Would you know what you were looking for if you needed to find it? Maybe Death Eaters and Voldemort are in the past, but they were hardly the only dark wizards in existence, and surely if he could find out how to do it, someone else could, then where does that leave us?" The story of Harry Potter often felt ridiculous to him, but to think that there were people who thought it was a good idea to hide things from people, it didn't make sense.

Now, Killian was becoming very suspicious of why this boy was pushing back. He leaned off of his desk to stand up straight. He stepped forward and knelt down to get more on eye level. Even if it was still towering over that way. It was the curse of being part-giant and almost twice the height of a normal male. “I merely mentioned it as an afterthought. If your curiosity is still going after I told you what they are for, then you need to turn around and forget what they are.” Killian was stern and cold. It was a little obvious that he would not venture further. “They are not commonly used or else your Defence Against the Dark Arts professor would have taught you about that. Only the darkest and most evil of people will learn more about a dark object that literally tears your soul apart just to cheat death. Although, if someone did make them, two or three Killing curses should do the trick, wouldn’t you think?” Killian was under the impression that the Aurors could still use the unforgivables if it came down to it. It was only of the dead sure ways to take out his mother’s side.

It didn't take long for Elio to realise he'd clearly over stepped. He didn't know why they would even bother to mention it if they weren't going to even entertain the idea that research was important. It wasn't like he was about to go out and make a horcrux he wasn't interested in immortality or hurting anyone, he only wanted to know, from a curiosity point of view, what it entailed. He shook his head, feeling the dismissal before it had even come and took a tentative, hesitant step back. "I hear you loud and clear, Professor," he said, before turning and moving to head out of the room. He didn't want to hang around on the off chance the massive professor lost his temper with Elio and thought he needed to be tossed out a window.
