Jeremy had made sure he was prepared before heading up to the owlery. He was going to visit his owl, Avalon, who wasn't exactly happy with him these days. He had taken good care of her all summer, keeping her caged during the day but allowing her to leave his home at night to fly and hunt and do other owl things. The one thing he hadn't done for her was giving her letters to take and she seemed to have taken great offense to this. It wasn't as if he had purposely not given her letters, but he didn't have anyone to send one to. Unfortunately, he couldn't explain any of this to his owl.

As he entered the owlery, Jeremy felt into his pocket and pulled out an owl treat. He smiled as he saw Avalon, sleeping on a low perch. Slowly taking a step toward her, Jeremy held out the owl treat. Avalon seemed to sense him though and opened one eye. Seeing who it was, she woke up and flew to a higher perch out of his reach. "But...I've got treats" Jeremy said with a sigh. The owl gave him a look, but did not move from where she stood.

Hamza was at the Owlery with a friend of his when he noticed a student go up to an owl and the owl just stood back. There might have been a problem, so Hamza started to walk towards the other student after talking to his friend that he will meet up with him later in the day. Hamza reached behind the student and said, "Owl doesn't like you or something? Is it yours?" Hamza was a bit curious as to why the Owl was acting the way it was. "Throw in a little bit of the food and see what it's reaction will be. Give the owl a feeling of comfort, so it will come to you", said Hamza talking to the student. Hamza then faced the student and said, "Where are my manners. I apologize for not introducing myself. My name is Hamza."

Jeremy heard the student rather than saw him because he was busy thinking about his next move. Just as the boy mentioned giving him the food, Jeremy had just been removing his wand from his pocket to do just that. He paused though when the boy introduced himself. With a sigh, he turned to the boy. "I'm Jeremy and that" he gestured to the rafters, "is Avalon who is mad at me because she hasn't had a letter to deliver in months."

Returning his attention to the owl treat, Jeremy swish and flicked his wand just as he had been taught. "Wingardium Leviosa" he said clearly and the owl treat rose slowly toward his owl. Just as it reached her though, another owl, a school one swooped over and ate it. "Seriously?!" he said incredulously as he reached into his pocket and pulled out another one. Trying again, he succeeded in hovering the treat right in front of Avalon who after a moment began to nibble at it. "Do you have an owl?" he asked Hamza.

Hamza saw boy introduce himself as Jeremy, funny thing was, Hamza had a friend that he met in elementary school long time ago. "Nice to meet you Jeremy", turning his head towards Avalon, "And nice to meet you too Avalon." Hamza noticed Jeremy saying that his owl had not had a chance to deliver a letter in months, he was a bit puzzled. "Why do you say that you have not had a letter to deliver in months? Do you not have a family or something?" said Hamza a puzzled face.

Jeremy had asked Hamza if he had an owl or not, then Hamza said, "No, I do not have an owl, but will be getting one soon, hopefully."

Jeremy listened to Hamza's question and a blush crossed his cheeks. It was a bit embarassing for him to admit why he hadn't had a letter for Avalon to send. "No, I've got family" he finally said as he used his wand to send another treat to Avalon once she'd finished the first. She had moved herself much closer to Jeremy though she was still out of reach. "But, I was with them over the vacation so there was no reason to send them a letter or note."

He watched her eat it quickly as he turned back to Hamza. "And we've only just gotten back to school, so I've got nothing to tell my family anyway. All they really want to hear is how I'm doing in classes, and nothing's happened yet." When the boy said that he was going to be getting an owl soon, Jeremy nodded his head. "That's cool. You're a first year, right?" he asked, knowing that he'd never seen the guy around before. "How are you liking the school?" he asked, curious to know.
