The Ravenclaw Prefect, Austin Devearux, made his way out of the library. He and Taylor had agreed to break up, as apparently they were meant to be just friends. Austin was okay with that, and he still thought she was the prettiest Gryffindor in all of Hogwarts. Maybe they could play against each other in Quidditch at some point. He wouldn't mind that in the least bit. Austin packed his books around in his arm, and he let out a sigh. He hated the fact that he and Arianna practically....fought. It was just terrible. He had no one else really that close to him that wasn't family. Maybe he should just go back into a shell again? But this is your fault. You have to fix it somehow. How was a good question. He could not figure it out. This was a hard question. He was a Ravenclaw! He should know these answers! It was frustrating him to no end. He was not paying attention to where he was going, and that would lead to the next unexpected event. He let out a good sigh, once more, and he turned the corner of the corridor, green eyes staring down.

Hilde was not happy. Not at all. She had hoped that she would be able to see Shane over break. That just did not happen. Now she had heard through the rumor mill that he was no longer dating that Ravenclaw twit but instead some Hufflepuff instead. What is so wrong with me? I know we are attracted to each other. Why can't we manage to make things work? she thought on her way to the library. With OWLs looming, she was determined to pass each one with flying colors and this extra time without a boyfriend, well, was best spent in the library reviewing her materials.

Walking down the corridor, she just started to round the corner, her green eyes on the book in her hand instead of on the space in front of her. Suddenly, she smacked into something hard. As she fell back to the floor, a few choice words escaped her mouth. Her skirt had flipped up a bit, showing an expanse of her tanned thighs above her tall boots. "Watch where you are going! Merlin! Are you dense or what?" Hilde exclaimed from the floor before she even looked to see who ran into her.

Austin felt something rock hard - well not rock hard but it felt like a person - and he bounced back. Though he was not prepared to keep his balance, and a spasm of pain erupted on his behind as he landed on it. He didn't have much of one so it hurt even worse. He shook his head a bit, and he heard a female voice that he recognized from the classes. He muttered, "Sorry, Hilde but..." He gathered some of his things in his arms, which was not much at all. Three books were nothing for the ol' Ravenclaw and all. He slowly stood up on his feet, and with his arm, he offered the Slytherin girl help standing up on her own feet. Though the green eyes, being a teenager, could not resist looking at those thighs of hers. Dear sweet Merlin, she had some nice legs. Austin blushed a bit, and he tore his eyes from her legs. That would be embarrassing if she caught him staring for a few...seconds. He blushed lightly, something he wasn't used to doing at all. Why did he have to have so much girl trouble? Really, never in his life did he hear of his cousins being as bad as him.

Hilde was a bit shocked when she realized it was Austin that she had run into. "Thanks," she said as she took his hand and stood up again. Her tone was a bit more relaxed, knowing it was another of her class instead of some random little first year that she would have cursed on the spot. She straightened her skirt before squatting down to get her things from the stone floor. She stood again, slowly, taking in the sight of the boy in front of her. How had she not noticed that Austin was decent looking. Like really decent looking. She felt her face tinge with red as she met his eyes again. Wow, those are some really green eyes. She stumbled for some words to say. "Um, thanks for helping me up." Then she noticed her quill was on the floor still. She quickly bent down to pick it up from the floor between their feet.

Austin helped her on her feet, and he was let out a sigh of relief when she did not comment or insult him on his own blush. Though he was a little surprised to see a little redness tinge on her own cheeks. It made her look more adorable than she looked in class. He probably would have noticed more if he had not been dating Taylor at the time. Austin liked what he saw, but because of his bad luck with girls, he chose to remain quiet of this fact. Austin smiled and he said, "It's no problem." He was not wearing his Prefect badge at the time, and it felt almost not right to be there. When she dropped her quill, he said in a rushed tone, "Oh, let me..." But fate was laughing and being cruel to Austin today. They both had bent down, and what he had done somehow was managed to accidentally kiss her. There must be a higher being, because he is laughing at me right now, thought Austin miserably as he stood up straight and took a step back. He blushed so heavily, one would think red was his skin color. "Oh Merlin's bead, I am so sorry!" Austin now wanted to turn and run, yet he was frozen on the spot.

Hilde was in shock, so much so that she almost fell backwards off her high heel boots. Did that just really happen? Did Austin mean to kiss her? WHAT?!? Then he was quickly apologizing to her for his actions. The red blush that had taken over his skin was adorable. She couldn't help what she did next, it was as if she was not in control of her body any longer. Standing straight up, she closed the distance between the pair and did something that she never would have done if she had stopped to think. Hilde placed her hand on Austin's cheek, stroking it gently before she pressed her own lips to his. It felt right to her to do this, like nothing she had experienced before. Well, with anyone that was not Shane. Pulling back just enough to break the kiss, she whispered, "Not to worry. There's nothing to apologize for." She was never this bold with any boy before, and wondered just what Austin would do.

Austin was speechless. He could not think of anything else he could say to take back what he had done...not that he didn't like it, but the fact that it was rather forward and all. Plus, he had only known her in classes and that was it. Was she also a rival on the Quidditch team? He was a beater and she was a seeker, and a Slytherin! He didn't know what to think. But he was also shocked when Hilde actually made her own move on him, which was something rather...wild and exciting. Austin could not resist kissing her in return. Hey, he is a guy! What else should he have done other than kiss her in return? Arianna and him fell apart... He had nothing else to lose even if he wanted to fix the relationship between he and her. Austin listened to her whisper, and he almost dropped his books again. He struggled to find his voice and he smiled, somehow regaining confidence he lost moments ago, "So um... Hilde, I... I'm so new to this." It was true. This was something way out of the Claw's league.

Hilde looked Austin in the eyes. The shade of green was one that she could lose herself in easily. At that moment, it was as if Shane never existed. "Wow. I, um, uh, never did that before." She took a step back and turned. It was shocking to her that she was being so bold, and with a Ravenclaw of all people. She was completely clueless about what to do at this point. Then the words he said hit home. He was new to this whole dating thing. She was not really new, but not overly experienced either. Really, up to this point she only has seen Tohoru and Xavier. Shane was not exactly a boyfriend to her, probably never would be. The Tohoru experience was nothing more than a disaster and the whole thing with Xavier was more like a really good friend that she made out with. Maybe this was a good thing. "I really am kinda new to this whole thing too. Everything so far has been a bit of a disaster." She folded her arms over her chest as if she was hugging herself. "So, what do we do now?" she asked, almost scared to hear the answer.

She had never been that bold? Well, Austin wasn't really bold with what he had done, it was an accident to him. Though he was not going to say this. Maybe it was just fate? Well, it did not feel right per say, but it felt good. Maybe since he didn't have anyone now, he could just forget about things and go along with this? Austin thought it would be nice. Austin laughed and he said, "Sorry that things are a disaster for you. Maybe I could help?" Austin bit his lip and he didn't know what to do from here. Austin smirked and he thought a bit more like a Slytherin than a Ravenclaw, "We can kiss again and see what happens from there." So, he had a bit of his dad in him, was that a good thing or a bad thing?

Hilde smiled at Austin, her eyes sparkling at his idea. Kiss again and see what happens. "You know, that does not sound like a bad idea at all." Her cheeks tinged red again as she looked up at the boy in front of her. If someone had told her this morning that she would be flirting with a Ravenclaw, she would have laughed in their face and then cursed them into next week. Yet, here she was, looking at Austin Devearux in a whole new light. She tipped her face up towards his, green eyes meeting green, and waited for him to make the next move.

Never would he have suspected to have moved on so fast, even if Austin did feel bad about the whole drama thing with Arianna. It was all just too complicated for the lad. The Ravenclaw was just too confused for his own good, and this wasn't feeling bad, but it wasn't right. It was good though. He watched Hilde lean forward, and wait for him to close the gap. Of course, Austin did. With his free hand, he caressed her cheek, and he kissed her passionately. A little part of him wished that he was doing this with Arianna, but it seemed irrelevant because she did not like him anymore. He gently pulled away, and he whispered, "I think we should get to know each other a little more, hm?" Basically, he was saying that he needed to know her a little more before he could ask her to be his girlfriend. "Want to walk in the gardens?" A charming smile painted across his lips, and he smiled dazzlingly down at her.

Hilde waited for what seemed like forever for Austin to close the gap, though it was really only a few seconds. As his lips brushed hers, then moved together with her own, she was shocked at the way he made her feel. Again, Shane Zhefarovich was far from her mind, pushed out by the boy in front of her. Maybe this was exactly what she needed. Maybe Austin Devearux was the remedy for her feelings for the boy who confused her beyond belief. Her hand slipped up during their kiss to thread into his hair, marveling at how soft it was to the touch. "I think that is a great idea," she whispered back, not really sure why she hadn't noticed him before this. His smile was driving her wild. "A walk sounds great."

The kiss was nothing short of passionate and means of escape but he enjoyed it to say the least. Austin just hoped that he could feel the emptiness that Arianna had left behind with a distraction. Maybe this Slytherin, Hilde Lindstrom was exactly what he needed. Austin wondered why he had not taken a notice into Hilde before now. Well, he sure as hell was not complaining now. He smiled when she wanted to go for a walk with him. Once they talked for a while, he would ask her to be his girlfriend. How can you pass something like this up? It was truly marvelous. And he needed a distraction, and fast. He never believed in him being a lady's man, but maybe Prodan had somehow seeped into his genes, as he was a lady's man back in the school days. "All right then, let's go..." He gestured with his hand for her to follow, out to the gardens.
