Hyo-rin sat with her back against a stone pillar. Her shiny jet-black hair tumbled over her shoulders as she scanned the small print of the book in her lap. It wasn't a book worth reading, a trashy romance novel she had picked up on holiday in the United States, it was about some mail order bride and her groom to be. The plot was not unlike any of the other trashy romance novels out there, they meet, fall in love, he is unfaithful, she discovers it, they make up, he dies. It was utterly stupid, the way you could tell what was about to happen next, but at the same time, she couldn't stop reading. It was so engrossing that she didn't even realize that the early morning sun had shifted high into the sky.
She turned a page, following the tiny lettering with her index finger. Una, the mail order bride, was about to kill herself. Hyo-rin scoffed, she was better than that. What about the handsome man who had helped her on the train? He had seemed much better than Derrik. Una wasn't going to do it, she would realize that she had much more life to live. This hypothesis was also helped by the fact there were another 10 chapters in the book, and Hyo-rin couldn't imagine that it would take her that long to stab herself.
Glancing up from the the book, the heard light footsteps not far from her. She looked around curiously for a moment, but saw no one. Satisfied, she returned to her book. "Don't do it Hyo-rin. You are better than this." she muttered to the paperback in her lap.
