Sapphire could have been doing anything, and she knew that. It was a bright day, the other students were all enjoying it. And yet here she sat under a great big tree surrounded by books. Her denim clad legs were crossed as she scribbled in her regular old notebook with a blue sharpie pen, taking notes on the potions book she’d picked up. Her dark purple “I Don’t Care” t-shirt fit her slim form perfectly, and her raven hair fell freely around her shoulders, hiding her face from prying eyes like a hood.

She knew that there were a million better things she could be doing than studying, but she couldn’t help herself. Her interest had been piqued and she had to find out more. Hence the dozen or so Books next to her. There were several questions about her new classes that had gotten her attention, and she meant to find the answers to them all. Unless, of course, something else caught her interest, but if she started thinking like that she’d be doomed.

Aftter the chaos of the revolution, Gwen found herself in an unpleasant mood. The school work that she had to do was slowly making it worse as all that was on her mind was the possibility of a war between witches and muggles and Gwen hoped she would never see her biological parents ever again. They obviously weren't very nice people and the Gryffindor was happy with her new family, not ever wanting to go back. Besides, they probably wouldn't want her to go back if they knew she went to a wizarding school. The girl desperately wanted to talk about it to someone but refused to tell her mothers. They would try to make her move schools, probably to Hogwarts Scotland or Ilvermorny, and Gwen didn't want that. Despite everything that had happened, she liked Hogwarts and preferred to sit and wait for it to play out before drastically moving somewhere else.

On this particular day, Gwen wanted to make herself feel better. Despite all of the homework she had, Gwen put her hair up out of her face and smiled as she made her way out onto the grounds to find something fun to do. Eventually she came across the Great Lawn and collected a bunch of rocks she could throw around to get her anger out. Placing the pile of rocks next to her, Gwen picked one up and threw it against one of the trees with all she could muster, watching as the rock split in two. One of the pieces landed next to a girl studying and Gwen was quick to apologise. "I'm sorry!" she exclaimed, smirking slightly.

Saph jumped as a rock bounced off one her books before rolling to rest against her combat boot. Her entire body tensed, ready for a fight, but she calmed slightly when a pretty red head apologized. Saph raised a brow, her blue eyes wary. “Well, you missed, so either you have a bad aim or you weren’t aiming for me.” Saph smirked a little, wondering for a brief second why she responded to everything with sarcasm. She tried to make up for it by introducing herself. “I’m Sapphire Michaels. You’re in Gryffindor, right?” She thought she’d seen the redhead when she’d scoped the Gryffindor table for Alkander the other day, but she wasn’t sure. She wondered briefly if the new girl would be bothered by her Slytherin status, but didn’t mention it.

Gwen was happy that the girl seemed approachable and chuckled at her statement. "No, I wasn't aiming for you at all, but I can next time if that's what you want." Gwen said, not meaning at all to sound rude. The girl introduced herself as Sapphire. "That's a cool name! I wish I was named after a stone. My name is Gwen." Gwen was happy to make a new friend. "Did you want to throw rocks with me?" She bent down and picked one of her rocks up. "You just gotta pretend the tree is someone you hate and just..." Gwen threw her arm back and forward before letting it go, watching as it split yet again, the two pieces falling in the grass. "You wanna try?"

Saph was officially distracted. She gathered her things and put them in her bag. “Sure. Though I usually just punch them. Who are you mad at?” She set her bag by the tree before walking over to the pile of pebbles and picking one up. “Me? I think I’ll pick Blaine today. He probably cut the lights in my canopy again.” Saph turned and threw the rock at the tree, hitting it dead center and splitting the rock like Gwen had. “You’re right, this is fun.” Saph smiled wickedly and reached for another pebble.

Gwen was glad that she successfully made the girl stop studying. Studying was stupid and Gwen much preferred to have fun. At the girl's question, Gwen shrugged. "Ehh, you know..." She picked up one of the rocks. "Probably everyone." She watched as Sapphire managed to split a rock too and beamed, glad to have found someone with the same sort of strength as her. It was definitely more fun with another person. "Awesome!" she exclaimed, stepping forward to throw her one. It too split and Gwen was already liking the adrenaline rush she was getting from it.

Saph dropped her pebble when Gwen said she was mad at everyone. Once she had thrown the one in her hand, Saph held up a single finger to her, signaling her companion to wait, and rushed back to her bag. She brushed the split rocks off it and reached inside it, digging for her sucker stash. She eventually found a pair of root beer flavoured ones and produced them with a proud “Ha!”. She strolled back to Gwen, unwrapping one and putting the sweet treat in her mouth. She held the other one out the the redhead with a sly smile. “These always help,”

Gwen raised an eyebrow as she watched Sapphire rush back over to her bag. At first Gwen thought she was bothered with the rocks getting all over her bag and thought she was going to move it away. Instead, she pulled out some sweets and Gwen chuckled as she took one. "Thanks." she said, chuckling. "Where do you get them from?" She opened it up and put it into her mouth before proceeding to throw another rock at the tree, feeling satisfied as she watched it split yet again.

Saph smiled and winked playfully. “It’s a secret,” Sounded so much more fun than ‘I take out the trash for the local grocer and she rewards me with suckers.’ Saph picked up another pebble and tossed it, not completely sure what to say. She might have made up her mind to talk to more people, but that didn’t mean she knew what to talk about.
