Bonnie Abernethy Fergusson

MEANING:
Bonnie - A Scottish baby name. In Scottish the meaning of the name Bonnie is: Pretty, charming beautiful. Derived from the Scottish dialect word bonny,meaning beautiful; which in turn is based on the Latin 'bonus' meaning good.
Abernethy - Abernethy is a surname whose origins link to a Scottish clan that descends from Orm de Abernethy, a grandson of Gille Míchéil, Earl of Fife that presumably settled at Abernethy, Perth and Kinross
Fergusson - Is a patronymic surname meaning "son of Fergus." The given name Fergus, comes from Fearghas, derived from the Gaelic fear meaning "man," and gus meaning "vigor".

WHY:
Having been born to a single parent, Bonnie's mother the only one to pick her name, she had always fancied having a girl and always imagined calling her Bonnie given it's meaning in scottish and how simply beautiful her mother had always found the name, so the moment the baby was born and she knew it was a girl the name Bonnie stuck, it's always her, Bonnie has always loved her name, it's never felt out of place and though her name is very scottish in nature and not helped by her ginger hair. But Bonnie loves her name. Her surname used to be Abernethy after her mother's maiden name, but it was changed when her mother got married to her step dad and she was adopted into the family and given the name. She has kept both names but her surname is Fergusson and her mother's maiden name acts as a middle name for Bonnie. She doesn't entirely use her middle name but's always happy that it does at the very least exist. She has grown to really love her surname and has for a very long time always felt like a part of the fergusson family. Bonnie has always enjoyed her name, no part of it would she ever change.

During her time in england a lot of people thought that Bonnie the name was short for something, she has never really had a nickname, with a name like hers it’s never really been necessary to have a shorter or pet name, since Bonnie is short enough and in many ways not unlike a pet name. She has no concern over what people call her, really, she’s never really heard a nickname be used in the context of her name, but she is sure people have given her some.

She was born in Scotland on the 6th of July 20218, she was born in the early hours of the morning in her grandparents home. Rather than being born in a hospital she was born in the family home, with no complications and they remained at this house for a week before her mother went back to London

Bonnie graduated from school and decided to become a physiotherapist, she was in the final year of her studies when her father asked her to go with her younger brother to New Zealand. While she wasn’t keen on the idea, she put a hold on her studies, to pick back up when she got back, and currently in New Zealand she is working as a shop assistant to a quill shop on Obsidian Harbour. It’s not unlike the work she used to do in the family store over summer breaks from school, she likes it, though it’s not what she really wants to do with her life.

FATHER:
Bonnie never knew her real father, her mother sometimes talks about him, but she has never met him, and he has never really played a role within her life. She has never been bothered by this, given that when her mother married Colin, he adopted Bonnie and has since always treated her like his own daughter, though she would never be the one to direct inherit the family business, he and the others in the Fergusson family have never made her feel left out. He is her father, and she loves him deeply, she would not want any other person to have been her adopted father. She would do anything for him, and he has really pressed the importance of family upon her, and she would always be loyal to the Fergusson family.

MOTHER:
Morag "Abernethy" Fergusson, born in Abernethy, Scotland, in April 1999, she works with her husband but also primarily as her mother, prior to that pursue a career in magical law. Morag is the only child of her parents.
Morag attended Hogwarts Scotland, where she was a Hufflepuff. She graduated from Hogwarts with near perfect grades and also immediately began working for the ministry in London, she worked there for two years before she fell pregnant and gave birth to a daughter, Bonnie Abernethy. She continued to work there and raising her daughter alone until early 2024 when her father brought her back up to Scotland so that she could marry Colin Fergusson. The two got along very well, and in the very early stages of the relationship, she fell pregnant and the wedding was pushed to the winter of 2025 after the child had been born. Morag brought her first daughter with her to live with the family and changed her name to Fergusson to reflect the family she was now a part of, and had been adopted into. She had a son five years later after much trying, and very little success, and then a second son almost nine years after that, again after much trying. Morag was always very close to her daughters and her daughters were always very close, losing Mary was the hardest thing to ever happen and it broke her heart, she is desperate to have another daughter. And did subsequently fall pregnant with some muggle help and had a daughter in the July of 2042. Originally she and her husband had thought to name it after their dead daughter, but were advised against it by her husband's family.

Half-Sister, Mary Fergusson, born March 2025, attended Hogwarts Scotland, Hufflepuff, died in December of 2040 after a case of Scrofungulus took a turn for the worse, she was taken to St. Mungoes but they were unable to help her. The death of her half sister hit Bonnie hard, they had always been really close, and during the brief time they’d been at hogwarts together they shared a house. She deeply misses her sister and has since grown more protective of her two little brothers.

The family has three cats, one dog and two owls. Her younger brother Rory has one of the cats as his own, and he named it Ferb, it's a tabby cat which he got when he was 9 years old as just a kitten. He took the same owl to school that Bonnie took to school attends Hogwarts New Zealand take one of the two family owls, a black owl named Nessie. he doesn't care much for owls, but does prefer Nessie. Bonnie loves her family dog, and is one of the thing she misses most about not living at home.

THOUGHTS ON BLOOD STATUS:
Despite the fact that the rest of her family are all purebloods, she doesn’t really care about blood, nor has she ever. Her family puts a lot of emphasis on blood purity, and while she is the blacksheep of the family being a mixed blood she understands the importance it has on the family unit and is rather glad that none of the pressure falls upon her. She is happy to just be a mixed blood wizard, none of her family have ever expressed discontent with her blood status, and she has never seen it as a problem. Though she as a child wished to be a pureblood, wish to the direct child of her mother and adoptive father, she has definitely come to accept what her blood is, and it doesn’t bother her.

HOMETOWN:
Bridge of Orchy, Scotland

CURRENT RESIDENCE:
Bonnie is between homes, she currently resides in a little apartment outside of Obsidian harbour which is near to where she is currently working, this is a temporary residence, she doesn’t really want to be living in New Zealand, and would rather be with her family, in the family house in Bridge of Orchy, but she is helping be in New Zealand and on hand to help her younger brother Rory with any of the needs that he might have during the first few years of his schooling. She likes living in New Zealand but it’s just not where she’d want to be living.

THE PLACE TO LIVE:
Having spent most of her life in Scotland, Bonnie would definitely prefer to live there, and specifically she enjoys living with her family, though it can be loud and messy at times, and it’s difficult to get peace, she loves it, she loves being surrounded by her family, the family that she loves.

PREVIOUS HOMES:
FIRST HOME: Bonnie’s first home was in London, in the centre of the town, with her mother, it was a rather small place, but she doesn’t remember much of it, given that she was about seven when she moved. Bonnie did enjoy living in London, what she does remember, but she was much happier when she moved to Scotland and had a whole lot of space to run around.
SECOND HOME: Her second home is the complex of houses that he and the rest of the Fergusson clan live in. He loves his family and is very close with them all. It is quiet and secluded and they make enough money to live very well, he is never really without people to play with, and does occasionally play with other magical children who come to the shop his family own.

SEXUAL ORIENTATION:
Bonnie would identify as Hetrosexual, she has always been certain of her own sexuality, she did during her fourth year, actually question it, thinking deeply about what she was, but it was fairly obvious to her that while she could appreciate a good looking person of the same gender she was in no way attracted to them and had no interest pursuing a relationship with them in any way other than friendship.

CURRENT RELATIONSHIP STATUS:
Since moving to New Zealand, Bonnie has been reluctant to engage with anyone romantically, given than in her mind she will be returning to Scotland as soon as she can and doesn’t feel like she could ever ask anyone to move with her to Scotland, which therefore means that she is currently single. However, she does have an interest in Jon Phillips, the brother of the man she currently works for and they have been on a few dates, although for now it is nothing serious and she’s happy with it being unlabelled and rather unofficial.

CRUSHES PAST AND PRESENT:
Bonnie had many crushes during her time in school, those varied between crushing on the head boy when she was in third year, or the times she had crushes on many of the quidditch players within her time at school. But, she never really acted on many of them, outside of school being so focused on her studies meant that she didn’t have as much time to spare for crushes and therefore had far fewer.

FIRST KISS:
Her first kiss was during her third year of school, she had been invited by a boy to the dance and during this time she initiated a kiss between the two, it wasn’t more than a peck on the lips because she couldn’t find the courage to do much besides that, but given that she had expected him to make the first move and at no point during the night did he, she took matters into her own hands.

FIRST FRENCH KISS:
The first real kiss, with an exchange of tongues was much later in her schooling, she was in her final months of sixth year when this happened, she began seeing a boy from her year, and they’d been taking things steadily, and after a quidditch session, he kissed her in the changing rooms, she very much liked the kiss, it was something she found herself keen to repeat.

PAST RELATIONSHIPS:
There is only one relationship of note, and that is the one during her sixth year of school, they got together in the April and the relationship itself just over a year, until Bonnie broke it off. She liked the guy, perhaps even loved him to an extent but she didn’t think it was right for her, he could be quite boring and he wasn’t always interested in what she wanted to do, so she broke up with him. Despite this she holds no ill feelings towards him and holds no regrets to the relationship.

THE FIRST TIME:
Happened near the end of her last year of school to her then boyfriend, they had been building up to it, and Bonnie was rather eager for it, though she and the boy broke up she enjoyed it, and she holds no regrets as to when and how she lost it.

HAIR COLOUR:
Bonnie has exceedingly vibrant red hair, it is very much like her mother’s hair when it’s in it’s natural colour and a colour that really stands out in a crowd. Bonnie has always had red hair, and to the shade that it is currently. She has always loved it, it’s been an easy way to stand out. She’s always kept it at a fair length, always thinking it just looks better at fairer length. She loves the look of short hair on others, but Bonnie has never liked it on herself, and much prefers to have her hair in the way that she wears it. Bonnie doens’t do much with her hair, sometimes she wears it up and other times she’ll wear it down, having such naturally vibrant hair, she’s never really had to do much with it.

HAIR HAS BEEN DYE
Despite often thinking about it, she has never, with such a bright colour of hair, she’s never really had to think about dying, though some people don’t like ginger as a colour of hair, she’s always loved it and has never changed her hair. She’s always wanted to know what she looks like with different coloured hair, but she likes the way her hair is currently to really be bothered by it. She knows that with her magic she can use that and change it back instantly, but she just hasn’t yet.

EYE COLOUR:
Bonnie has green eyes like her mother, they are similar in shape but her mother’s eyes are a few shades darker than Bonnie’s eyes are. She’s never really been bothered by her eye colour, in Bonnie’s mind they don’t entirely fit the rest of her look, she’s always thought that to match the pale complextion, and ginger hair she should have blue eyes, but she just doesn’t. Bonnie has always enjoyed how she looks and therefore eyes for her have never played too large a role.

BIRTHMARKS/SCARS:
Bonnie has no birthmarks or scars, she has a lot of freckles on her face, less so than her mother and her younger sister, but they are still occasionally notable, especially when she spends an extended period of time in the sun, other than just burning Bonnie’s pale skin it usually causes her freckles to appear more clearly.

Bonnie has always had a slightly smaller stature, her mother much like herself is not overly tall, and so Bonnie herself is not that tall. She’s a petite person, with a slim build, she’s careful with what she eats and considering that she’d like to be a physio is also very good at keeping in shape.

Much like her siblings Bonnie has blood type O positive, she has never needed to use this, but understands the importance of knowing it, even within the magical world where a potion is easier to use than muggle transfusion methods. So far in her life she’s never needed to use it, but Bonnie definitely thinks it makes no real negative impact on her life to know it.

WHICH HAND?:
Right handed.
Like all of her family she is right handed, when learning to write at the local muggle nursery, Bonnie held the pencil a lot in her left hand, but it wasn’t the right hand, and it wasn’t until she held it in her other hand that it began to become easier to teach her to write. Bonnie up until she got her wand felt like she wasn’t actually right handed, that she’d just be forced to learn with her right, but it was when she held the wand grabbing it naturally with the right that she knew it was actually right.

Having spent the first few years of her life in England surrounded by English people, before moving to Scotland and spending time with the harshness of the Fergusson accent, her accent is a little bit of a combination of the two, a much softer and clearer Scottish accent, most like attrituted with being “posh” but she would never slip into an english accent at any point, her scottish accent is just softer and largely people say that she is far easier to understand.

I CAN SPEAK:
Bonnie can really only speak english, she has picked up bits of gaelic but not much to be called anything like fluent. She has never needed to learn another language and therefore just never.

Bonnie is not allergic to anything.

PERSONAL STYLE:
Her style can be associated with being in style, she likes to wear clothes that follow the fashion, and she never has any problems finding things that she likes in the stores. She likes to be comfortable on top of that, generally it just suits her better to be casually well dress. She likes dresses and skirts a lot, finding them as comfortable as the occasional dress. Mixed with this she’ll largely at home wear clothes like track suit trousers, and a comfortable jumper. Despite really enjoying clothes and shopping, she has a very casual style that usually looks effortless.

Bonnie has always enjoyed muggle books, she’s always been a huge reader, specifically muggle books, that she finds fairly enjoyable. Bonnie also enjoys celtic music, and she likes being cosy and warm on a snowy day. She likes hard work and always feels the benefit of it. She likes to be able to make an effort and enjoys a degree of spontaneity in her life. Bonnie likes the rain a lot, she finds it really calming. Bonnie really likes snow globes and has a small collection of them. She likes autumn, and she likes relaxing and just having a chill night. She enjoys muggle roller coasters. She likes the occasional weekend away, she loves spending time with her family, and she thoroughly enjoys working in a store interacting with people. She likes quidditch though more to watch than play. She enjoys baking, but she’s not much of a cook, she can make a cake but sometimes struggles to make the most basic of dishes.

CHARACTER DISLIKES:
Bonnie doesn’t really dislike much, she has certain alcohols she doesn’t like, she doesn’t appreciate when people make fun of her family, or say bad things about them. She doesn’t like when people try to force her to do things she doesn’t want to do. She despises disorder in a shop, having always been around stores given what her family does she really finds it frustrating and is usually left with a need to tidy. Bonnie doesn’t like certain types of fish, and finds the smell even more repulsive. She doesn’t like the short winter days, she doesn’t really enjoy sunshine either, since she often gets very badly burned. She doesn’t like clubbing and she’s not a huge fan of going out at night. She’ll do it every so often and enjoy it then, but she’d much rather sit at home with a bowl of popcorn, some wine and just spend some one else or even just alone.

GOALS:
Bonnie wants to finish her education, so that she can be a full time, fully qualified physio and that’s about it. She desires a family but it’s not really a goal of hers, it’s just something she would allow to happen if it was to.

BOGGART:
After losing her sister, it would any of the rest of her family dead. She can barely stomach the thought of losing anyone else in her family. She is close to each and everyone of them, and to her it would be the worst thing to lose another member. They had always been so close knit, and so connected to one another that losing another is just beyond what she can understand and be capable of dealing with.

PATRONUS:
Bonnie’s patronus is a Shetland pony.

PATRONUS MEMORY:
Since the death of her sister, the patronus memory that Bonnie uses has changed, she thinks now of the last time that she, her sister, Rory and Aonghas were together, Bonnie had been in charge of them, and they had settled down with popcorn and a kids movie and just spent a good few hours in each other’s company, it was a perfect little time and she thinks fondly upon it, even more so now that Mary is gone.

DEMENTOR:
Bonnie has had a pretty easy life so far, there is not much that has happened to her which is a really terrible thing aside from her younger sister dying. It happened to so fast and Bonnie had been unable to do anything like anyone had, and then all of a sudden her sister was gone. She had always been very close to Mary but it was just all of a sudden and Bonnie desperately misses her though she manages to keep it to herself and away from what she has to deal with within New Zealand. She’ll always miss her sister.

VERITISERUM:
Bonnie at this moment would definitely say that she is more than a little frustrated by the fact that she is stuck in New Zealand when all the elements of her life were in Scotland. She is happy to do what her father asks but she is annoyed at having to be stuck in New Zealand, to her it’s just frustrating and her entire life is on hold for a couple of years, it doesn’t matter what she’s doing is good and she doesn’t really mind looking after her brother, it’s really just that she has to be stuck in New Zealand.

MIRROR OF ERISE
Bonnie is likely to see her family, she is a very family orientated person and would very happily live her life pursuing that goal, but she wants to be able to have a family on top of the work that she does, she has always deeply desired to have the best of those two worlds. Bonnie doesn’t think there is anything wrong with wanting one or the other, but she would deeply desire both.

AMORENTIA:
Bonnie would smell popcorn, and likely pizza those are two of her favourite things to eat and she loves the smell of both. She really enjoys the smell of rain and finds it to be a relaxing thing. She likes the smell of the countryside and she likes the smell of her adoptive father’s family’s robe workshop.

I LOOK UP TO:
Bonnie looks up to her adoptive father, she knows how easy it could’ve been for him to reject her and not include her in the family, after all she is not his daughter but he had always shown her care and respect beyond what she ever could’ve expected from him. Because of this Bonnie would very much not mind being like him, good work ethic, hard worker, family man, some one who is always trying. Caring for all parts of his family and welcoming a child who is not his own into his family.

RELIGIOUS BELIEFS:
Bonnie holds no religious beliefs, she has never had any for Bonnie it was just not a part of her life growing up or in any element of it, the only reason she even knows a little about it is from her days living in London where the old house was relatively close to a religious building. She doesn’t believe in any of it, and has very little interest in even looking it up.

FIRST THOUGHTS:
Having been told stories about the school and seen pictures, she was not overly impressed by it, it was still an amazing sight for her, but it really wasn’t too different from the pictures she had become accustomed to seeing. She did love it, and she loved the way it felt, she loved the school and everything about it. To her it was the most perfect school to ever have existed, but those feelings she had did predate her arrival at the school itself.

THOUGHTS WHILE BEING SORTE
Understandably Bonnie was nervous, but she was also really excited, she had no pressures to follow family tradition, but she was very keen to go into Hufflepuff house, she was one of the first few names to be called, and she all but stumbled up the steps, causing her vibrant red hair to go flying. Bonnie was glad when the process itself was quick, the hat was barely on her head before it called out Hufflepuff and she was so happy with it, so pleased that she had managed to get into the house.

It was an emotional time for Bonnie, she’d gotten to spend the year in the school with her sister, she had strong friendships with those around her, and she was friendly with most. She didn’t really want to leave, she liked the familiarity the school brought her, but she was also very excited and she loved every moment of it, it felt like the perfect culmination of the last few years of her life, of the hard work she had put into her OWLs and her NEWTs. She felt so proud of herself and so happy that her parents, and her sister had been allowed to attend. She felt just so happy.

POSITIONS ACHIEVE
Despite achieving well in terms of grades, Bonnie did not achieve any positions, she wasn’t too bothered by this fact, she was perfectly happy with just living out her life as a mere student who never had to worry about rules or upholding principles, she was just able to live freely within the school, and she loved that.

BEST CLASS:
By far Bonnie’s best class was potions, she had always had a keen sense for it, right from the beginning of school, and she continued to excel in the class, right up until she graduated from the school, it was her strongest subject and one that she was definitely happy with doing. She had originally thought about pursuing a career in potions but she didn’t think it would suit her. But, it was her best subject and the class she was happiest in.

WORST CLASS:
History of magic undoubtedly was her worst class, though she kept at it, throughout her school career, she just wasn’t very good at the subject and it required her to do hours upon hours of studying before she hit a point where she was sure she’d pass any exam, or be able to write a passable essay. She is very glad she does not ever have to worry about such a class ever again.
