Oz was feeling somewhat refreshed. He'd had a nice break - even though his grandparents were somewhat frail, they were still in good health and he had spent a nice time with them. His grandfather had expressed pride in him and that made him a little more determined to put in more effort. And his grandmother had doted on him, which would have usually annoyed Oz but he could make an exception for her since at least she never treated him like he was fragile, or a baby. Even Audrey's sourness hadn't quite managed to dampen his mood. He'd almost have felt sorry for her if she wasn't so annoying.

The one thing he was a bit hesitant about though was his classmates. He got along fine with a few, like Airen and Hugo. Some who seemed alright but didn't really know well, like Conan or Santiago. Then there were some like June and Corn, and possibly even Rion, who were just unpleasant. But it wasn't as though he'd been actually trying to do much beyond just get by at school so far, keeping his head down and all. He knew he'd have to start being somewhat open about the goblin thing since it wasn't like he could justify how short he was comparatively. He just wasn't quite sure where to start. The clubs, he guessed, as he found himself greeted with the closed door of the defence club. Oz frowned, reaching for his wand. Storing his wand was surprisingly difficult, as he had had to have the pockets of his robes extended for how big his wand was compared to him. It was almost comical, seeing this boy pull his wand out of his pocket not unlike a clown pulling out scarf after scarf.

Even with all her homework, Tempest was trying to make time in her busy schedule to practice her defensive spells. She didn't want to risk the chance of losing the dueling tournament, the one thing she could currently hold over everybody's heads. She left the common room, heading over to practice with some dummies when she noticed one of her classmates standing in her way. "Are you going in?" she asked snarkily.

Finally having pulled his wand out of his pocket, Oz was just moving to point it at the door and unlock it when he heard a somewhat familiar voice. He turned around and looked up - and up - to see Tempest. He didn't really know the girl, but knew of her from class. He also knew she was friends with June, and was prepared to be a bit guarded. Though, he had no reason to be rude if she wasn't. "Yeah, yeah, I'm unlocking the door, don't get your robes in a bunch..." he muttered, finally casting the spell and letting the door swing open. He quickly stepped inside to allow her through as well, looking back with a nod. "...you getting in early too?" Oz asked, though he already felt that was kind of a stupid question. The answer was pretty obvious.

Tempest rolled her eyes and started to pull out her wand when the Hufflepuff finally rememberd how to use a first year spell. She walked right past him after he spoke, hoping to see a dummy that she could use to practice with. "Need to keep up my duelling skills... are you planning on duelling, too?" she asked, looking down at him. Not that stature had anything to do with magical skill, but Tempest wasn't sure it would be fair to duel one of the smallest in their class. She was at least a foot taller than the kid, though, standing as one of the tallest their class currently; maybe he had an advantage.
