It felt weird for Nevaeh to be back in Europe. Even though she had only been in New Zealand for one semester, she had grown accustom to the temperamental weather there, rather than the constant chill in Europe. Being back in the home that had caused her such grief drove her insane, and Nevaeh wished she had just stayed at HNZ for the holidays. At least there she'd have a friend who loved her, rather than an ignorant father and a stereotypical evil step mother.
Having finally escaped the torture place that was her old home, Nevaeh strolled the streets, breathing in the crisp air, hoping that something would come up to keep her entertained throughout the day. Her mind kept wondering back to what it would be like in New Zealand now. She knew it was summer, and that her best friend would probably be with the guy she was crushing on. Nevaeh uncharacteristically sighed, before sitting on a park bench facing the small pond in the middle of the park.

Noah was in his original home town for a bit. It was one of those rare moments where he missed his father, well, he missed his sober father. He hadn't actually seen him again since he ran away and got put into the system but he had come back often, only to turn around and walk away again. He knew his father would be drunk, he always was, and he wasn't about to rick being attacked. Again.

Noah rubbed his chest as he walked along to the local park. Sure, he knew that beast wasn't his actual father, it was an alcoholic creation, but he still couldn't get over the images in his head from that night. The glint of the knife that matched the murderous one in his own fathers eyes. It had scarred him emotionally as well as physically.

Noah reached the park and walked over to his favorite spot. There was a bench near a pond, he never sat on it but he liked to lie down next to it and imagine what kind of person he would be if his mother had lived through his birth. It didn't matter to him that someone was already sat on the bench, he just walked in front of them and lay down on the floor, as per usual.

Noah would normally, if this happened at school, kick the person off of the bench so he could have privacy. Today, he couldn't be bothered, he was drained just b being here, it didn't matter if some stranger was near him. He could block them out if they made noise. He could even get a conversation out of it, maybe the girl was like him. He doubted it but he was unlikely to ever see this girl again once he got home so there was no point in not talking if she started a coversation.

Nevaeh closed her eyes and imagined the sun beaming on her face, a group of friends around her and laughter. Being back in Europe really brought her spirit down, and she hated being back. Opening her eyes, Nevaeh lifted her feet onto the bench in surprise as she saw a guy lay down next to the bench. She placed her legs under her, bending on her knees, as she peered a the blonde boy laying on the ground. Is he homeless? She thought to herself, quickly panicking thinking she had intruded in his home. But as she looked at him closer, Nevaeh shook her head to herself, noting that he was too clean to be homeless. He just didn't seem like a homeless person. Maybe he's ill? She thought. Nevaeh half decided to sneak away from the weird boy, before another thought kicked into her head. She was just thinking about how lonely she was, so why not strike up a conversation? Nevaeh smiled, knowing where all the other conversations usually led her, and that was to friendship. Besides, it was a really good-looking guy.
Nevaeh coughed quietly, trying to get the boy's attention before lunging into conversation. "Hey! You, down there! Whatcha doing? Are you sick or something?"
