Ares unsurprisingly had had no time to find a date to his final yuleball, though it would’ve been nice to attend with someone to this final event. But, as it turned out he had not had the time to find anyone who would be interested. Perhaps it had been a bad idea to turn down Tristan on that date in the last year. The boy was still too young, but it might’ve been nice to have someone at this event that he could talk to and spend the time with, someone with whom this night would be made a little more special, but of course that wasn’t going to be the case, definitely not when Ares had next to no spare time on his hands to look for another person let alone spend enough time to merit this final event. However none of that stopped him from going to the event, and it was why he was dressed politely, at the hall and looking for someone to talk to but he could see that most of the people he might talk to were busy. it was a pity, he had been hoping to have a good time with others and the likelihood was that he'd be alone, it wasn't too bad a thing, Ares had often been alone at these things, so he could find his enjoyment somewhere, it might just take a little while before he did, and honestly the drinks and food were enough to keep him entertained.

Seven years. Daisy felt like she hadn't changed much. But when she thought about it, she was no longer running the halls barefoot, pretending her dog was running with her. She missed Gus. That was one good thing about being able to be out of the school - she was going to have Gus at her side the whole time. He was getting on in years, but she didn't like to think about that. He was still as fit as ever, and Daisy's mom told her about all the adventures he got up to while she was at school.
Daisy wasn't really one to dress up much. She enjoyed wearing dresses to the dances that the school held, and she knew she wasn't really going to get much of an opportunity to wear dresses again, so she decided to go all out for her final Yule Ball. The brunette wasn't going with anyone, but that didn't bother her. It never did. Though she was confused about her feelings towards Sheridan, and had gotten over the ones towards Leo, Daisy found she quite enjoyed being alone. No one else to have to think about, no asking permission to hang out with friends. She definitely noticed the difference in her friends when they started dating. It wasn't something Daisy really wanted - if she were going to date someone, they'd have to be her best friend.
Daisy entered the Great Hall, taking in the immaculate sight. They always did so well at dressing up the Hall. The Gryffindor wanted to dance, but didn't make her way to the dance floor yet, instead, dancing her way to the food table, grabbing a chip and popping it in her mouth. There was another singleton hanging around, and though Daisy knew of him, she hadn't really interacted with him before. Grabbing herself some juice, she moved over to him, still moving to the music. "Hey, Jeffreys right?"

Ares was pretty lost in in his own little world as the yuleball progressed around him, but his attention was taken off that and towards a girl he knew but didn't know. There were a lot of people in his year group that Ares didn't know. He had always been quite independent, opting to just focus on quidditch or something else, meaning that unlike others in his year group, he didn't know all that many people. The teen smiled in a friendly manner to the girl, Daisy something, and nodded, "Yeah, Ares," he said, since he wasn't sure that this girl would know the difference between him and his twin, or perhaps to just help her know which one she was talking to, "Daisy right?" he asked in return, a deep level of uncertainty in his voice. "Here alone?" Ares added, actually taking in the girl, she was certainly beautiful, had put in a lot of effort, but of course she wasn't Ares' type and he could only assume a girl like her would already have a partner, perhaps like with Damide the other part had left the school.

Daisy grinned when the boy introduced his first name. It was definitely helpful to have that reminder, lest Daisy embarrass herself for not knowing it. Daisy loved names, so it was an important thing for her to know; though she supposed it was important to know in any kind of interaction with someone. The Gryffindor didn't know that the boy was a twin, and probably just always assumed they were the same person; it was safe to say she didn't pay much attention in classes. "Well, after seven years Ares, it's nice to finally meet you." Daisy teased lightly. "I must say, I love your name! Do you know the meaning of it?" It was hard to get to know everyone in the school, but it was bizarre the number of people she didn't actually know even though they had spent seven years together. "Yes and yes!" She responded to both questions, though happy that he did know her name. "Are you alone as well, or am I interrupting an important date?"

The boy always supplied his name because of Xavier, some might confuse them, though they didn’t look much alike and other people might still confuse them. It wasn’t something that bothered the boy, he didn’t mind it at all. Ares did have to admit it was nice to meet someone whom he had in theory known for almost seven years, but Ares had always been pretty caught up in his own world. ”Likewise Daisy,” he returned with a little smile, and he gave a slight nod or shrug as the girl asked about his name, ”The greek god of war right?” He hadn’t ever thought about his name being overly important, it was just a name after all, ”Do you like being named after a flower?” Ares returned with a small expression, obviously meaning nothing insulting by it and seemingly quite curious about if she liked her name or not. He nodded and gave a little shy smile, ”All alone too, the only boy I ever liked graduated last year. I’m surprised no one asked you, you are very beautiful,” even Ares could see and admit that, not his type but beautiful nonetheless.
