Ever since she revealed to Ava about her wanting to learn the piano, Alec asked her mum via owl if she can purchase some beginner books for her. Thankfully, her mum obliged and got her a series of books. The brunette Hufflepuff didn't want to struggle while the Ravenclaw teach her the basic, she at least, wanted to know the names of the keys and stuff. And when her books came, she started reading the first in the series from breakfast, in between classes, lunch and dinner. Sometimes she would take a chance and walk through the halls while reading. Alec had a free period, walking down the second floor hallway, book in hand. To avoid bumping to other people, she stick beside the wall while the Hufflepuff managed to read and understand the page she was in.

Marco had had a rough first semester, or well, one filled with drama that he never expected to be involved in. He had been more than relieved to go home for the break, for once, and spend time with his family, specifically his sisters, which had been a great distraction. It was a new semester, new year, and Marco planned to have a fresh start...or as much of one that he could have. He was on his way back from class, since his timetable showed he didn't have any other classes today. He was one his way back to the common room when in the hallway he couldn't help but notice a girl buried in a book. It looked like a music book, from closer inspection. When he realised who it was, Marco casually approached her, wondering how long it would take Alec to notice him just standing there.​

It was a difficult start for her, but Alec allowed herself to slow down. She couldn't possibly learn the first chapter in one day, the Hufflepuff girl would look at her hand and try what was on the book. Sometimes it was annoying when she doesn't get it and slam the book shut. Like what she just did when she can't comprehend what a middle C is. Upon closing her book rather loud, a surprising gentleman sneaked in front of him. "Oh shoot! Why must you do that, Marco?" Alec was a bit startled, she also wack the guy with her book. "Sneaking will lead to accidents." The brunette reminded Marco.
