So… Warren was at the Yule ball. He was in a nice enough pair of dress robes. They were a tad to big (purchased to last an extra year) but he didn’t look to shabby if he did say so himself.

However, for all the kafuffle, the Yule ball simply wasn’t all that impressive. I mean sure there was food. But there is always food around Hogwarts. And like, sure all the girls are in dresses, but… “No its actually a big improvement that girls are in dresses.” Warren began to think. “Robes are horrible for ones figure.”

“Though it’s a bit unfair that girls get to look epic, while I’m in dress robes… Which are kind of an unfortunate combination of tuxedo and dresses. And its not like this was an event where I would wear a mask or other cool novelty. I wouldn’t mind getting me hands on a cane and a monocle. Where would I get a monocle…”

While Warren was deep in his thoughts about imitating some sort of cross between Tuxedo Mask, Mr. Peanut, and the Monopoly man. For the most part he looked very spaced out. He was staring off into the distance holding a plat of food and pretty much standing on his own. Afterall it takes a lot of concentration to create a cross of tuxedo mask, mr. peanut and the monopoly man, that still looks cool.

“How would I pull of a monocle AND a mask?” He said outloud without realizing.

Arielle had made the lethargic decision to attend the Yule ball in her second year, he wanted the excuse to do something besides sit around in her dorm. Dressing up was a well-timed excuse to finally ditch the tedious Slytherin common room. Arielle had chosen to wear a pale pink Nina dress, a simple choice, but it would ensure the second year would be seen without running the risk of being stared at too long. Normally, the blonde would enjoy taking a fashion risk or two, daring to wear something that inspired her to design, but not that night. Arielle had chosen to be nonchalant that night and just go plain and simple.

The French girl entered the great hall and smiled as she gawked at how beautifully it was decorated. Arielle had felt more like a princess than before, she actually felt like she was going to finally do something productive with her time at Hogwarts New Zealand, which was have a fun night watching all the other girls in their over the top dresses. As the blonde walked around the great hall, she noticed a familiar face, it was Warren. She had seen him from The Midnight Society's first meeting. "Hello. Nice to see you again." Remarked the second year in her French accent, before sitting down in a chair next to him.

Warren spun on his heel to face the familiar voice which called to him. Not many people had a French accent at Hogwarts New Zealand, and Warren could only think of one. He didn’t even need to see her blond hair to recognize Arielle. However, Warren wasn’t actually sure that the disembodied voice he heard was intended for him. As a result as soon as he saw Arielle, he tried his best to quickly analayze whether or not she was talking to him. Luckily she sat down on the chair next to him, which was a pretty sure sign that he was the one she hoped to talk to.

“Hi Arielle!” Warren said enthusiastically. He had almost entirely forgotten what he was thinking about before. Those were just the random things you think about because no one else is around. So he was rather excited to not look like a complete loser and be alone at the Yule ball. “I like your dress.” Warren said. “Simple, but it looks good on you. Plus I never really understood why some girls dress like they are getting ready for their wedding. Sure it’s a nice dress but just way to early… I mean look over there.” Warren said pointing to a third year hufflepuff.

“Beautiful dress. But its white, its fancy, and I feel like the roaming on the floor behind you thing should be reserved for weddings. I wonder how she plans on walking?”

Warren scrunched up his face at the end of his sentence. It was his thinking face. Which… Well that’s just ridiculous. No person needs a thinking face. But for some reason Warren always felt like he best pondered if he was looking above his left shoulder, with his lips being pulled to the right side of his face. It was likely a subconscious result of television….

“Other than your self… Who do you think has the best dress?” Warren asked.

So I kinda wanna try people watching. To properly people watch on a forum though, you need to read the other threads. So read through the threads and make comments based on that. I‘ll leave you to find where the dress I described was. But the third year hufflepuff was a pretty big hint.

The second year listened to Warren as he commented on the other girl's dress. Arielle had chosen to wear something modest rather than extravagant, the main reason being she didn't want to draw attention to herself, although that might not be an easy endeavour for the twelve year old, seeing as most of the other girls had dressed rather lavishly comapred to her, she respected the confidence they had. Arielle moved her gaze to the third year Hufflepuff, "It could be worse. It does look good though." Replied the second year, there was no doubt Arielle was holding back a rude comment or two, the girl was trying to keep a graceful appearance for the Yule ball. The Slytherin scanned the great hall, to see the head girl wearing an adorable yellow dress, "I would have to say her." Arielle said as she nodded towards her and smiled. Fashion was something Arielle took pride in, and respecting another for their fashion sense didn't come easily to her.

I hope you don't mind Amberly crashing

Amberly couldn't wait to get down to the Great Hall, she didn't care that these things were mostly supposed to be for couples to dance awkwardly and sneak away to make out or something, she was just excited to go and experience it all. Well maybe not exactly experience it yet, she was too young for that, but just to see it all and enjoy herself in the process made the twelve year old girl excited. The Gryffindor dressed in a shiny metallic dress and bright blue leggings and small pale yellow heels; one could say her style was a bit more eccentric. Though since she felt spaghetti straps were too revealing she wore a blazer over her dress to tone it down. Because her hair was so short she couldn't do much with her mushroom cut, so Amberly topped off her look with a small hat just in case her outfit hadn't already been noticeable enough.

As Amberly entered the Great Hall she saw that although her dress may have been a bit out there, colorfully at least, she was definitely not the only one attracting attention. The difference between her and the other girls however was that their dresses were elegant and slightly over the top, if she was being honest. Amberly couldn't see how some could be comfortable in such a fancy dress and much preferred her comfortable ensemble.

The second year walked around the hall in search of her friend Lola, to see if she would actually show up to an event like this, but ended up spotting other people she'd met in the forest for the Midnight Society. Amberly bounced over to them happily and said, "Hi!" flashing them her signature wide smile. "How are you guys? Nice to see you again," she grinned.

Warren was surprised when the Slytherin held back her tongue. Warren simply assumed they all had a bit a of a mean spirit. “I guess I shouldn’t be judging kids by there houses.” Warren considered. “Or is that concept only true for books and covers. I mean, the whole point of the cover is to judge the book and figuring out if you want to read it. But sometimes your assumptions are just wrong. However, houses are sorted by a magical hat that knows your personality.”

…

“K I’ll treat students like books. Why have so much faith in a hat?”

Warren’s internal monologue finished when Arielle pointed out the head girl’s yellow dress. “Good choice.” Warren said nodding in approval. “But I think my favourite dress is…”

Warren was about to point to a dress in the ballroom, when some glare caught him off guard. It was Amberly’s metallic dress. “Hi, How are you guys?” She said.

“Wow.“ Warren breathed when he took sight of Amberly. He had to take a moment just to comprehend Amberly’s outfit. The top hat, the metallic dress, the leggings. It was a lot to handle. Warren felt like it was something he could totally rip into. “But then again. I’ve been trying to figure out how to wear a mask and monocle together. So I guess I should just accept peoples crazy outfits. Like Arielle.” He thought to himself.

“Hey Amberly!” Warren said enthusiastically. “Its starting to feel like I should be telling a story. I could probably remember some slasher movie that had a prom scene I could rip off.” He grinned. “I’m good. Me and Arielle were just decided who we thought had the best dress. What do you think?”
