Getting an angry letter from her cousin had not been a great start to Rory's day. The piece of parchment in question was currently crumpled up in her pocket and she really didn't want to read it again, really she didn't - except there wasn't a lot to do while she was up in a tree and had left her wand in the dormitory. Curse her eagerness to eat breakfast this morning, she thought, swiping at a nearby leaf. Finally, the pull of the letter was once again too much, and so Rory pulled it out of her pocket to torture herself with another few times at least. She played with the leaf as she read, eventually dropping it to drift to the ground below. This happened with several more leaves as she brooded over her cousin's letter. She'd definitely never seen Leah this angry before, ever. It was kind of fascinating, in its own way.
Letter said:Dear Aurora,
Yes, I have charmed this letter so you'll continue to pay attention because what I'm about to say to you is very important, and after hearing about some of your recent actions I just can't trust that you'll be mature enough to do so on your own.
This morning I received a letter from Matthew about the awful setback he's just encountered in trying to contact his sister - a setback that you had a large part in. Now, though I completely agree that involving yourself in the equation wasn't the best idea, I'm severely disappointed in the way you handled the situation regardless. You could have told Matthew that you wouldn't be the best person to approach the girl and left it at that - he would have understood. I would say I'm also worried about the kind of company you keep, but as much as it may seem so, I didn't write you this letter just so I could judge all of your actions thus far.
I'm just so... so mad, Rory. I can't help it. Matthew is one of my dearest friends - my best friend, and it hurts me to know the pain he's in because of what has happened. I'm sure that's a feeling you can at least imagine, if nothing else. Please, just... don't make this any harder for Matthew than it's already become. If nothing else good has come from this situation, I hope that it has at least taught you a necessary lesson.
Leah
