They'd been planning it for months now, Quinn and Archie., and finally the day was here when the two would finally meet after so long. It had been just over a year since they'd met the first time, and since then he'd grown his hair out and shot up about a foot. The beach was hot and damp as Quinn took a leisurely stroll across the sand, almost an hour earlier to the "date", and realising the amount of time he still had, he stripped off his shirt, summoned his surf board and set towards the waves.

He remembered during one of his correspondences with the Hogwarts boy, that they shared an interest in surfing, and he let the cool waves chill his growing nerves as her surfed. All sorts of thoughts had been running through his mind about today, would Archie think this was a date? Was it a date? He didn't even know how he felt himself but he did remember that he had thought the boy was cute. There was only one problem; they both attended schools on different sides of the world.

His thoughts came crashing down alongside the wave which knocked him off the board, and with the sun glaring in his eyes, he slowly walked back towards the beach, shaking the water out of his blond hair and eyes, sweat and sea water dripping down his abs as he searched for his shirt.

The concept of making himself sit down to write nothing but a simple letter was pointless to Archie until he crossed paths with Quinn Roseberg. Their initial meeting and the circumstance of attending schools on opposite ends of the world meant writing owls was their only option and it was exactly what the boys did. They wrote during the school year, learning all too much about each other despite only meeting once and Archie became all to accustomed to receiving Quinn's letters after they helped him through the strenuous time of the Gryffindor curfew and his family's problems.

So much time had passed that Archie wasn't sure if he would even recognize the other boy, if Quinn would have the same messy beach hair and adorable smile, if the black glasses he was wearing to protect his eyes from the suns rays would alter his view or if the trials and tribulations of the year changed how they both appeared. But he was sure that one of them would notice the other sooner or later, and strolled from his home to the beach they organized to meet without a nerve in his body or any hint of a butterfly in his stomach. He soon arrived at the concrete wall lining the sand. Leaning forward and resting his elbows against against the wall, Archie eyed some of the male surfers dotted along the shore, hoping that one of them was Quinn because they were gorgeous. The blindingly sunny day and the water dripping off their bodies only made such a fact furthermore obvious. Archie began to chew on his lip ring as a particular blonde surfer caught his eye. The guy was familiar enough to be Quinn though Archie could not tell from such a distance away. To make sure he laid eyes on the right boy, Archie raised his arm and waved in their direction, hoping they would walk towards him and strike a conversation.

The sun glared in Quinn's eyes as he walked further along the beach towards where he thought he'd put his shirt. His eyes however were not looking for his shirt but for Archie and they followed the route of amother young man making his way down the beach. He hesitantly watched him unsure whether it was archie or not but the guy waved and he raised a hand back, smiling.

As he got closer he noticed things about Archie that didn't come across in his writing. He was beautiful. Suddenly conscious of his own shirtless body he stopped a few feet away from Archie and grinned as he crossed his arms. "Long time no see." He smirked. "I think a hug is long overdue." He reached out, his arms and body still dripping wet, towards the clothed boy.

Archie watched the boy he waved at walk closer, realizing that he was indeed Quinn and that he need not look further from the concrete wall in which he was standing against. Suddenly Archie felt surprised as the writing in Quinn's letters did not do his appearance any neatly written word of justice. He wasn't sure if Quinn had grown to be hot, become taller and more muscular since the first time they met or if he had simply forgotten the other boy's appearance until that moment. It hit him in the face and his jaw nearly dropped, but he caught himself before it happened, somehow keeping his composure. "It has been a long time." Archie said, smiling and unconsciously taking a step closer to Quinn in an effort to be closer to him.

He pouted slightly as Quinn crossed his arms over his chest though it quickly returned to a smile as the boy asked him for a hug, reaching his arms out. The day was insatiably warm so Archie hugged Quinn back without hesitation, not minding that his clothes became slightly damp against the other boy's bare skin. He knew his clothes would dry quickly in the heat when he pulled away. "We should have hugged before!" Archie exclaimed as he reluctantly took a step back from Quinn. He removed his sunglasses and squinted in the sun, occupying his hands as he played with them impatiently. He wanted to do something with the boy as much as he wanted to continue conversation but he was unsure of how to say as such. While he had been on dates before, none of them amounted to anything and he had begun to feel nervous now that Quinn's gorgeous appearance was in front of his own two eyes. "Do you want to get ice cream or something, now?" He asked, attempting to think of something they could do to fill the time they had.

Feeling slightly confused by his lack of shirt, the matter of which was no where to be seen, Quinn had a whole load of other emotions stirring in the back of his mind. The cute shorter boy was beautiful, beautiful in a way that it was enough to catch Quinn's attention, as he'd never really found anyone of his old calibre to his standards. It was hard to concentrate as Archie talked and he automatically stepped closer to the boy in order to get closer to him, almost close enough to feel the sun's rays radiate off the boy's body. Quinn wasn’t the type who usually demonstrated any great affection, but having the previous correspondences between him and Archie back at home, and being just this close in presence was enough to let Quinn's guard down.

He would have spent all day just standing in the sand with him but when the cute boy asked if he'd like to get ice cream his ears pearked up. "Yeah I'd love that! It's that Gelato thing right?" He started to walk back towards the row of lights away from the sea edge, and let his hand brush lightly over Archie's.

Archie continued absent mindedly chewing on his lip ring and impatiently playing with the sunglasses in his hands as he stared up at Quinn. It wasn't uncommon for Archie to be the tallest in a group of people as he was naturally taller than average so it always came as a surprise when he was made to tilt his head upwards to maintain eye contact when he was standing rather than looking down as he often did with Orwell or Kylie because they were shorter. It was usually a different story with Isaiah but that was a thought Archie quickly dismissed. One that he didn't need to have when he was supposed to focus on Quinn, his pen pal and confidant and spending time with the other boy person rather than in writing. He shook the thought from his head, then nodded as Quinn confirmed he meant Gelato.

It was a summer afternoon and as Archie stood in the sunlight wearing skinny jeans and flannel thrown over his tank top next to someone equally as hot as the sun's rays he felt as if he were melting. Gleato sounded like the perfect idea so he didn't hesitate in turning away from the sea until he felt the unfamiliar sensation of Quinn's hand brushing against his own. A slight flush added to his already heat pinkened cheeks as he moved his hand away, folding his sunglasses together and letting them hang from the collar of his tank. "That's better." Archie said as he stretched his now unoccupied fingers and moved to intertwine them with Quinn's. Forward and shameless as ever to show affection in a public place.

Quinn felt himself blush as their hands met and he found himself holding Archie's hand as they strolled towards the gelato place. He'd never really been open to showing affection, and he had no idea why he'd allowed himself this much openness. Allowing the whole world to see his orientation and his feelings was a foreign concept to him but it felt somewhat liberating to hold the hand of a beautiful man as he walked down the sidewalk.

He felt another one of those feelings he hadn't properly felt until today; nerves. As they strolled hand in hand, Quinn kept trying to bring himself to speak, but every time he thought of something the words wouldn't leave his lips, as if he was scared of what Archie would think, of what he wasn't sure, but nervous none the less. "So.. How's Hogwarts?" he asked, cringing at his own question, obvious it was small talk.

They reached the Gelato place, and Quinn looked in, after stealing another glance at the boy. "Um I don't think I can go in." he gestured to his still bare torso, slowly tanning in the sun. "I think they have a 'no shoes, no shirt, no service' policy." He looked at Archie, raising his spare hand to cover his eyes from the sun and to see him better. "Should I wait out here, I brought money for us so don't worry." He added so that Archie wouldn't think he was expected to pay. It was a date after all. At least he thought so, it was confusing how they'd gone from Penpals to a date in almost what seemed a blink of an eye.

Archie was entirely pleased with himself, smirking as he walked hand in hand with Quinn and not minding the silence that fell between them one bit. It was comfortable for Archie and it felt right. Surprising considering the fact he had only met Quinn in person once before. He half expected to have the silences be awkward and what was left of their conversation dragged out until it snapped but that wasn't the case, at least from Archie's side. He squeezed Quinn's hand slightly as he was asked about Hogwarts, not minding the small talk. It was currently school holidays but he thought his school year was going well. At least much better than the previous year so he was happy to talk about it. "It's great. Orwell and I had lots of fun working together at the wild patch." He answered, smiling to himself as they walked, eventually reaching the gelato place.

Archie motioned to walk in but stopped when he realized Quinn wasn't with him. He turned as the boy spoke, eyeing his torso up and down as his attention was drawn to it. No shirt, no shoes, no service. Not something he expected from a gelato stand that was more or less beach side but who was he to judge. He shook his head when Quinn said he would wait outside. "No, no, no. How am I supposed to know what flavor you want if you don't go in with me? Here." He said as he moved his shoulders, sliding off the flannel he was wearing and holding it towards Quinn, leaving him in his loose tank. The flannel may not have fit but Quinn wearing it would mean neither of them were shirtless. The shoes was not something Archie could help with however, so he simply shrugged as he said "They won't notice your feet. Half the people in there are probably wearing flip flops anyway." to hopefully make Quinn feel comfortable enough to enter the store as Archie couldn't imagine walking in without him. He wouldn't know which flavor to pick nor the size of the waffle cone Quinn wanted so it would be easier if he didn't make such a decision. As Archie waited for Quinn to hopefully put on the shirt, he averted his gaze to the beach that was now only a short walk away.

There must have been all of twenty seconds between Archie taking off his flannel shirt and Quinn sliding into the tight fit shirt which he left unbuttoned as to allow his glistening abs chest to dry out. Reaching for Archie's hand again, he allowed himself to be led into the store, almost shivering as the cool refrigerated are hit him. His feet were like ice on the smooth floor but there was no complaints from him as he'd been in the heat all day.

The gelato place could have been the most amazing store in the world not that Quinn would have noticed. He kept stealing glances at Archie, at their interlocked hands and above all else the genuine beauty of his body smile. He was startled back to reality when he was asked for his order, but he had no idea what to get. glancing at Archie he raised an eyebrow. "What'd you fancy?"
