Evie Hamilton rounded the corner at full speed, briefly looking back to see if she had lost the two men chasing after her. Large blue eyes took in the forms of the two heavyset men chasing after her as quickly as their chubby legs could allow it and a groan of fear escaped Evie's throat. How on earth did they still have the energy to chase her? Weren't heavier people supposed to be out of shape?! "If I had known that they could run so fast I never would have taken food from them! My legs are so tired!" If they caught her, Evie would get into trouble. Then she would be forced to return to the foster home that she had run away from. If Evie could avoid ever going back to such a place, she totally would. The eleven year old would rather live on the streets and fend for herself than live with those people. They were absolutely insane! Evie willed herself another big burst of speed and turned around the corner. A new plan had quickly put itself together in her mind, and she needed to act fast! Instead of running from them, she had every intention of hiding! If it worked, then with luck on her side, she'd lose the two idiots and be able to enjoy the meal she had stolen from their restaurant. As bad as stealing was, starving was even worse in Evie's mind.
Evie's body rounded one more corner, and she quickly took in her surroundings. There wasn't much to hide behind, but she did see a man standing by himself. He was big enough to hide her, and Evie was going to use that to her advantage. Without any type of warning, Evie booked it for the man. "Scuse me!" Evie grabbed his sleeved and pulled herself behind his large frame, peeking out only slightly, that way she could get a glimpse of the two men as they booked it past the pair. Evie watched them closely, until they were practically nothing but dots in the distance. A grin overtook her lips. She had lost them! "Hey, thanks mister!" Evie thanked the man as she took a large heaping bite of her sandwich. Ah roast beef was her absolutely favorite too! Once Evie was halfway finished with her sandwich, she decided that she was suddenly interested in the man that had unknowingly saved her from being taken back to the foster home. "What's your name?" The eleven year old questioned softly. It felt weird talking to someone that looked so much older than she did, but she hadn't really had the chance to really talk to someone in some time, so hopefully he'd answer her. if not, it wasn't like it was going to stop Evie from talking to him.
