meaning|| Athena's first name comes from Greek origin and means Goddess of War and Wisdom. Athena adores her first name because she thinks it is powerful and makes her feel strong. Her middle name, Monique, is French and means Advisor. She is ambivalent towards her middle name but feels that it goes well with her first name. Her family members know her middle name obviously, but most other people do not know it. Her last name, Zhefarovich, "originates from Romania and Bulgaria. However the heritage of Romanian has long since washed away. The Zhefarovich family are large, containing three branches, with one typically being the main branch, which is the darkest, another being the more likely to be in businesses, and the last branch being the quietest and also the more pleasant if one could consider them pleasant at all. Most of the Zhefarovich family are pure-blooded, and have laws and strict rules which they are known for, and many are either Death Eaters or associated with them. They are known for their tightness and also on how they hate muggles and anything to do with them. While allying with some other families, the Zhefarovich do control others. They are very isolated, and while some people consider them to be legendary, they are also very hostile and malevolent, and will not stop a fight until they die from it. More often than not, they keep to themselves in Bulgaria while some spread around, their main base is in a Manor where no one can access unless they know where it is, and have many other secret places. The Zhefarovich had this tradition to give into the inner dark nature, and many other traditions that if broken, one would die."[1] Athena is proud to be a member of the Zhefarovich family.

Athena first ran into Drakon while she was out shopping. He was completely obnoxious and she hoped to never see him again, but they ran in similar social circles. They next met at a club, where he escorted her home after a night of partying. She realized that they had a lot more in common than she thought, and she began to see him though she kept it secret from her father. Eventually, he found out the two were dating. Athena soon discovered that she and Drakon hadn't been as safe as they should have been, and gave birth to their son, Axel II in 2041. Athena refused to get engaged to Drakon just because she was pregnant, but they eventually became engaged in 2042. Athena would go on to give birth to another son just before Drakon disappeared.

Athena met Declan at the New Zealand Ministry of Magic in September 2034. She had gone to meet up with her sister, and while she was waiting in the lobby, had nearly bumped into the man as he had been attempting to leave. Athena had been immediately intrigued and had ended up conversing with the man until she saw her sister exit the lift. The two began exchanging owls and then meeting secretly.

Athena absolutely adored her boyfriend, a pureblood boy who was homeschooled by the aunt and uncle he lived with. Athena's family didn't know that she had a boyfriend because she was afraid of what her brother and father might do to him if they found out. In 2032, after meeting his aunt and uncle, Matthew broke up with Athena, citing the reputation of her family as the primary reason for the breakup. After creating a fire with the pieces of the ripped up breakup note he had sent her, Athena's father found out about the relationship and made Matthew 'disappear.'

She also has a thin scar on her right forearm and her left foot from a bowl that broke after her mother threw it at the wall behind her. It shattered and cut Athena. The scars are visible if you know they are there, but she tries not to bring attention to them.

Athena never even really asked what happened to her (she was a bit young to understand), though she has come to find out that the woman is in Azkaban. His entrance into her life marked the first stable parent that she'd ever known and that was a big thing for the young child.
