Previous topic: A quiet afternoon happily interrupted. (Student Lounge)

After their time in the Student Lounge, Rukevra couldn't wait to meet up with Patricia for the Brightstone weekend. With her birthday taking place, and his remembering the broom flight he had offered her; the young Gryffindor walked along the path-way towards the village, his Scarlet Streak in hand. Sharing a broom flight with his friend for her birthday seemed to be an appropriate gift, as the more he thought about the dual flight as a thank-you for the Christmas present; the more he was put off by the un-comfortable feeling he was receiving.

Having agreed to meet his friend by the shops, Rukevra continued his journey; all the while looking out for an area the two could take to the skies. It would certainly be an interesting time, as the young boy had barely gotten used to controlling the broom on his own. Upon reaching the shops of the village, Rukevra peered around for his friend; not knowing specifically where she would be; or what she had even planned to wear.

Tick! Tock! Tick! Tock! That was the only noise Patricia could hear in the General Store for the majority of the day, there never seemed to be many customers coming to the shop an so Patricia was bored, pure and simple. It didn't help that today happened to be her birthday - she couldn't believe she was 15 already - and unlike previous years she actually had plans outside of a mini party in her dorm with her friends. No, today Patricia actually had plans with someone outside of her usual routine and she couldn't be happier, change was always good.

Nearing the end of her shift Elliot came in and told her she could go off early but not before giving her a small birthday present. Patricia loved Elliot, she was more like a big sister rather than a boss. Opening up her present she smiled at how the bracelet set worked so well the red themed outift she had chosen for the day. Thanking Elliot once again she slipped on the bracelets and exited the shop.

Entering the thick crowds of students Patricia started to make her way to the general area where she and Ruki had planned to meet up. Thankfully Patricia didn't have to search for long as she could see Ruki not too far ahead of her. Quickening her pace she made her way towards him. "Hi, sorry to keep you waiting." she said, slightly out of breath from running but it quickly passed. Seeing her Christmas present to him in his hand her smile widened, "Hey, it looks good with you. I see no cobwebs so that's a good sign." she joked.

Moving through groups of students, many of them laughing and joking with each-other, the Gryffindor fifth year attempted to scan everyone's faces for a familiar one. It was going to be difficult. Dressed in a white tee-shirt, a pattern of lines in one corner, and smart jeans; the young wizard passed through the crowds of fellow students, his eyes looking out for the birthday girl. Almost as if he had been drawn to a specific area, Rukevra spotted the young Hufflepuff moving swiftly towards him. Once she neared, the young wizard looked over her out-fit; silently approving of what he saw.

"I have just arrived myself, so no apology is required.". Rukevra smiled at the girl, pausing to allow her to catch her breath again. Before he could say anything further, Patricia commented on his broom. He felt slightly awkward walking through the village with it, especially as he was the only one; and today's plan hadn't really been thought through. "It's all the practice Andromeda puts us through.". The young boy laughed slightly. "We don't have a chance to breed the spiders.".

Not knowing what was best to do first, the young boy continued the conversation. "Has your day been as expected so far?".

Patricia let out a small sigh of relief as her friend informed her that he had just arrived himself, she didn't like to keep people waiting. Although, thinking of the time she figured they were both bang on time, great minds think alike she thought, laughing to herself at the silly quote. "Then I take it back." she replied with a cheek laugh, sticking her tounge out playfully. After few short breaths she felt right as rain and ready to continue with her birthday, after all you only turn 15 once and she was looking forward to this birthday.

Patricia laughed along with Ruki as he commented on the amount practice he was being put through, "Remind me to thank Andy then." She said jokingly, "Although, we could always do with a few more spiders around the castle." she said, pretending to let her mind wonder, with a dreamy gaze on her face. Bringing her bright features back to normal Patricia caught Ruki's question and answered, "Birthday's been good. My family sent an owl with cards and a few gifts, went to work but it was quiet and Elliot got me a present too." she said, lifting her arm to show off her new bracelet. "I swear she can read minds because it goes quite well with my outfit." she said with a light laugh, looking down at her outfit as she pulled the white cardigan over her slender figure. "So where do you suggest we test this bad boy?" she asked, nodding towards the broom in her friends hand.

As Patricia joked about her comment, Rukevra moved his gaze towards her out-stuck tongue; her cheeky laughter echoing through his ears. The two friends seemed to get along so well with each other. Listening to the Hufflepuff's response, the young wizard felt slightly confused at her mentioning needing more spiders. The distant gaze she held caused him to think she was becoming bored. With a slight sense of worry about his actions, Rukevra began to feel less confident. Had the young girl wanted to be somewhere else, having made other plans for her birthday. The dreariness of the young boy shook slightly, as movement flashed within his vision. Not understanding what it was, Rukevra's initial reaction caused him to reach for his wand; but the young wizard stopped himself as Patricia's voice reminded him who it was.

Catching a few of her words, the young boy followed her gaze towards her out-fit. She certainly looked good. At her next question, Rukevra smiled. Taking to the skies would change the awkward feeling he had given himself. "There's quite a large open field back along the road. Maybe we could go there with-out anyone seeing.". The fifth year sounded slightly un-sure. He knew little of the laws of broom flight in Brightstone.

Patricia found herself feeling more relaxed than had in sometime, well since the time she and Ruki had spent together in the Student's Lounge. She loved how the two were able to get along so well, their past was definately in the past and for that she couldn't be happier. Now to tackle putting other parts of her past in her past, more specifically Joe. She still found it hard to get over the fact that he wouldn't be there anymore and with his birthday coming up in a few days it was harder to deal with the fact. Although she was trying her best today to not think about it because afterall today was her birthday and so it was all about her, right? So pushing all other thoughts out of her head she brought her attention back to her friend as he talked. Nodding her head she smiled brightly, "Sounds perfect!" she exclaimed happily. "Lead the way." she said.

>.<

Smiling as his friend agreed, Rukevra noticed her features light up. She appeared to want to be here with him after-all. Feeling much better at this, the young wizard turned to his right slightly and allowed Patricia to follow along side him. Moving through the crowded village gave the young transfer chance to reflect on his time out of Durmstrang. Many students in the older years often chose to Apparate elsewhere for the village weekends, which resulted in very few crowds to push through. Not wishing to dwell on the Institute too much, the young boy cast a glance towards his friend. He was happier here.

After some time walking, the pair reached an open field part way along the road into the village. "What do you think?", Rukevra questioned. "Big enough for our first time?". The young boy grinned.

Shifting her body weight forward Patricia made her way through the familiar village with Ruki, feeling very much at ease and very happy. She had no reason to not feel happy it was her birthday and she was spending the day with her friend, what could be better. The journey to Ruki's destination of choice was a quiet one but not awkward, the sign of being in the company of a good friend - being able to not have the need talk but still enjoy each others company.
As the two approached the outskirts of the Village Patricia saw a familiar field, the place Niccy had taken her on their first meeting, glancing at the large tree and soft smile graced her lips, that time seemed so long ago and she was glad it was in the past. Entering an other open field Patricia stopped by her friends side ass he observed it. "It's perfect!" she exclaimed at his question. Glancing at her friend from the side of her eye a smrik replaced her usual smile. Reaching her hand out she lightly slapped her friends arm. "Tag! You're it!" she said with a childish giggle as she ran into the open field, they had some time for a bit of fun first, right?

Standing at the opening to the field gave Rukevra a moment to think about the rest of the day with his friend. He may not have felt much now, but hunger would likely over-come him later on; and the two of them would need to find somewhere to eat. Remembering his low running ink, the young wizard re-called his own plan of purchasing a new pot at some point during the day. It made little sense to buy it first, in-case the pot became damaged and the ink wasted. As Patricia answered his words, Rukevra smiled at his decision to use the field. Durmstrang had been secluded enough to basically do anything anywhere, but New Zealand contained many muggles roaming around the area that could potentially spot something it was better they didn't.

Before he had a chance to speak or act, Rukevra felt a light tap against his arm; and turned to see Patricia call out and run into the field giggling. The sound was like music to the ex-Durmstrang's ears. Grinning slightly, the new Gryffindor Beater placed his broom in front of him at an angle; and stepped into the foot stand as he pushed off from the ground. If the girl wanted to play, they would play. Balancing himself out, the young wizard kept the broom low to the ground as he drifted behind his friend. Like a predator to its prey, he waited for his opportunity. Spotting his chance, Rukevra rushed forwards; pulling the broom up-wards as he did so, and tapping his friend's arm as he past her. "It would seem it is you whom is it.". The fifth year pulled the broom around and laughed slightly. He was just out of her reach.

It was at times like this that Patricia was glad she was agile enough to be able to run fast enough and get a good enough head start from her friend. As she sped towards a random part of the field she felt the autumn wind hit her face ad blow through her long brown locks. She hadn't felt so alive in a long time, just to run free for the fun of it, it reminded her of her earlier years, the carefree days. She was only just 15 today, surely she was allowed a few more of these she had a lot more years in front of her to grow up, for now she was happy being the young teen that she was and having fun with a good friend.

Patricia turned to see just how far ahead she was of the aforementioned friend, stopping in her tracks she stared in amused shock. She watched him approche with great speed, more than what she could manage on her two legs. Seeing that he was almost at her side she turned to run again but before she knew it she felt his hand on her arm and she glared at him. Stopped she turned to watch him pull away, "Cheat!" she called after him. She thought about chasing after him but decided to keep her breath, what was the point she was never going to catch him. Crossing her arms over her chest she continued to glare at him with a smirk on her face, trying not to laugh, she may have been slightly annoyed but she had to hand it to him, it was a good plan. "I am not amused." she said, sticking her nose up in the air in her best pompus voice.

Making his way back towards Patricia gave the young wizard a chance the feel the air rush past him. He loved to be flying through the skies; the whole sense of freedom he had whilst soaring on his broom. As he neared the young girl stood on the ground, Rukevra watched her closely. She certainly looked cute whilst trying to be angry. Practising is hovering technique, the young Gryffindor moved as close as he could to Patricia; and positioned the broom slightly below her shoulder level. He knew he could catch her again, all to easily, if she attempted to tag him. "Would the lady care for a tissue?". It likely wouldn't be the tagging he had to worry about; the young boy could end up being punched.

With today being his friend's day, Rukevra intended to make it as enjoyable as he could. It had certainly been some years since the young Vanderzuk child had experienced fun. The gloom which surrounded the Durmstrang Institute had been forgotten during his time at Hogwarts, but the few memories of the time spent with his mother hadn't. Having chosen to distance himself from them, Rukevra had slept easier over the past few months; not waking up in cold sweats after nightmares of what might happen to his future. Taking the first few steps away from the darkness allowed the young boy to push himself towards happiness. Now if only he could get through his examinations, he would feel much more relieved.

Looking into Patricia's eyes, Rukevra smiled.

Patricia lowered her head again as she watched Ruki make his way back to her. She kept her arms crossed across her chest )as the breeze was a tad on the chilly side) but her features lightened again. "No, I'm fine. I wouldn't take one from a cheater anyway." she said teasingly. Patricia laughed off any seriousness that may have been in her voice. As she stopped talking she let out a sigh, not a sad one though and happy one, so far today had been perfect and the fact it was only just the beginning was an added bonus.

Catching Ruki's smile Patricia grinned back. She was contemplating if she should try and tag Ruki again and maybe make a run for it, but she highly doubted it would happen. Unfolding her arms again she shifted her weight slightly. "OK, do think this bad boy is big enough for the two of us?" she asked, observing the broom for a quick moment before centring her weight and looking back at Ruki.

In response to his question, Patricia teased him slightly about cheating. In his view, it had been a good tactic; it was a little pointless running across the ground if he had a broom. Hearing her laugh once again, Rukevra knew non of it was serious; and continued to hover. Catching the sound of a sigh, the young boy wondered briefly what was wrong. Any sort of worry quickly vanished as a grin spread across the young Hufflepuff's face. Watching as the girl shifted about, the young wizard listened as she began to speak.

Taking in what she had asked him, Ruki sat up and looked over his broom. It was big enough for the pair of them, but whether it would be comfortable or not was a different matter. "It looks to be big enough.". The young wizard turned back to his friend. "Do you wish to sit at the front, or the back?". Lowering himself to the ground, Rukevra dismounted the broom for a moment.

Patricia nodded in agreement with her friend, having a steak of her own she knew it was a big enough broom, or at least big enough to hold the two friends. As Ruki dismounted the broom and asked her a simple enough question she began to wonder just how it was going to work. It seemed easy enough in theory but her previous years at Hogwarts, things easy in theory weren't always so easy in practice. "Umm..." she said, thinking about which was would be the best. "I think I'll sit in the back." she finally decided. "I wouldn't feel comfortable controlling the broom with two people on it." she laughed lamely. She had no problem controlling a broom, but with two people, that was a different story. Anyway, Ruki was the boy so he should take the lead.

The more he thought about the situation, the more he wondered just how it would work. Carrying a passenger on a broom was something new for Rukevra, and he couldn't help thinking it wasn't the wisest thing to do. "What if it isn't designed to carry two.". The thought bounced through his head. Would he be capable of controlling the broom once they where in the air. The last thing he wanted was to crash and injure his friend, especially on her birthday. As Patricia spoke, the young wizard knew she had similar concerns. Looking towards her, and then back to his broom, the fifth year smiled. It was now or never. If they where to crash at least they would know whether it worked or not.

With his friend choosing to sit behind him, Rukevra mounted the broom again; before setting it low enough for the young girl to climb on. "I hope you have a safety helmet.". Rukevra laughed a little. He could see the whole thing being fun, but just needed to push away his slight nerves. Once he was in the air, he knew his confidence would rush back. Feeling the Hufflepuff mount the broom, gripping a-hold of his waste for balance, Rukevra turned and looked at her. "Ready?". After making sure they where both set, the young wizard dipped the tip of the broom and allowed it to move forward slightly. This was certainly going to be interesting.

Excitement started to build as Patricia prepared to take to the air with her friend. As the remainder of her fears buzzed through her mind she shook her head at them, it was going to be fun nonetheless. Anyway, what was life without a little risk every once in a while? Watching her friend mount the broom she bit her bottom lip. Taking a quick breath she followed suit and mounted the broom, positioning herself behind her friend. Hearing her friends words she slapped his arm, "Not helping." she said with a nervous laugh. As she felt the broom rise into the air, just off the ground she quickly wrapped her arms around Ruki's waist, holding on for dear life - she couldn't believe she was going to do this. Gulping she nodded her head as he asked her if she was ready, she was as ready as she'd ever be. As the broom started to move Patricia held on to her friend tighter, she just needed to get over the shaky-ness of the first few seconds and she'd be fine.

Moving steadily through the air several feet above the ground gave the young Gryffindor Beater chance to gage the pressure needed to control the broom. So far everything was going okay. Smiling slightly, the young boy knew it was time to shake things up. Feeling he would receive more than a slap to the arm, and deciding it would be worth it, Rukevra allowed the broom to drop; before pulling it back up sharply. He had been on muggle roller-coasters before, and the weight-less feeling in his stomach was always fun to have. For added affect, the fifth year faked loosing control of the handle; hoping his friend would at least scream a little.

Once his fun and games where over, it would be time to climb higher.

True enough once she had got used to not having control over the broom like she normally would she felt fine and was beginning to enjoy herself. This isn't so bad she thought as they moved through the air, sure it was a tad strange but she was getting used to it. Releasing her grip on her friend slightly as her tension left her body she looked around wondering if anyone had seen them yet. No sooner had her grip lessened around her friends waist that she had to hold on to her friend again. She felt the broom drop at a quick rate, letting out a small scream as the broom descended she began to rethink the idea.

Letting out a quick sigh of relief as Ruki seemed to get control over the broom again she was about to suggest dismounting now. Well that was the plan until she felt the broom go out of control, getting scared now she let out another scream, what was happening. Looking at Ruki to see how he was coping she saw a smile on his face, confused she figured he was putting the whole thing on. She wanted to slap him but she was too afraid to let go in case the broom did go out of control. "You are going to pay for that." she said into his ear, her tone serious laced with some playful-ness.

Once he had levelled the broom out, Rukevra continued to steer straight ahead. Hearing Patricia scream allowed his own nerves to disappear; a little fear mixed with fun made it all that more enjoyable. Even if it was fear from someone else. The thought of having to pay for his friend's secret enjoyment caused another grin to appear across the young wizard's face. It would be interesting to see what she could come up with.

As a few minutes of silence passed by, Rukevra turned the broom towards a line of trees. With the afternoon sun shining brightly in the sky, the view would look remarkable. Running along the tree tops, the fifth year glanced to his side and watched the shadows mirror their flight. With a slight, yet warm, breeze fluttering over them, Rukevra lowered the broom a few feet and allowed his feet to brush the tops of the newly green trees.

After skimming the leaves for several moments, the fifth year darted to the left; building up as much speed as he could, as the two friends headed towards the ground. Pulling up-wards before any chance of a collision, the young wizard raced the broom around the open field; twisting and turning as he went. If Patricia was scared to begin with, she would soon be begging to put her feet back on solid ground. With a lap of the field complete, Rukevra slowed slightly and glanced behind him. "Having fun yet?". The young wizard felt he knew what the Hufflepuff's response would be.

"How about we attempt a loop-the-loop?". The manoeuvre would definitely hold an interesting out-come.

Patricia quickly forgot about any fears she had as the two gaining more and more height. Strangely enough the higher she was the more relaxed she felt, having become used to flying over the past number of years she expected she had just become accustomed to the height and thought no more of it. As they soared through the sky Patricia looked over at the sights from the height, everything looked so much more beautiful and peaceful from up her. Leaning against Ruki as she observed all her surroundings and couldn't help but think that this had to be her best birthday yet.

Although the moment of pure bliss soon came to a stop as Patricia felt a sudden change in the brooms direction. Sitting back off Ruki she let out another sequel, but now that she was used to it was full of laughter, coming to enjoy the rushing sensitisation she experienced during the thrill. With a fit of giggles still escaping her lips, even after they levelled off, Patricia leaned forward again as she heard her friend talking. Nodding her head, with a beaming grin she answered, "You better believe it!" Speaking nothing but the truth.

Hearing her friend speak again Patricia's laughter stopped and a look of worry and horror replaced her bright features. Was he serious? Biting her bottom lip she pondered the question for a moment. A part of her was screaming for her to say yes, but there was still a part of her that told her it wasn't such a good idea. Closing her eyes she decided on an answer, "Do it!" she said letting out and excited squeal, mixed with a hint of worry. Hugging her friend tighter she buried her head in his back, not wanting to see anything while he attempted to do this. She trusted Ruki, yes, but that didn't stop her from being nervous. Then again, you only live once.

As his friends voice passed through his ears, Rukevra became a little surprised that she didn't wish to kill him for his actions. As the pair had zoomed around the field, the young girl had let out screams of joy. The young Gryffindor was pleased she was having fun on her birthday. Further surprise hit the young wizard as his friend excitedly agreed to the loop-the-loop attempt. He had performed several before during Quidditch games, or practices; with the most recent being to avoid a bludger. Pulling off the manoeuvre with another person on the broom would be a little more difficult.

Feeling the young Hufflepuff grip him tighter, Rukevra looked straight a-head; and grinned. His eyes narrowed ever so slightly. It would be something of an achievement if they managed to stay seated against the broom. Gripping the handle tightly, the young wizard pulled the broom up-wards and began to climb; circling the field as he did so. Speed and height would be required for a full rotation, but the force of gravity would hold the pair firmly in place. Hopefully.

After reaching a reasonable height, the young boy paused in the air. He could still feel Patricia holding onto him. Looking around, Rukevra couldn't see too many people in the area. It mustn't be such a bad thing to take to your broom in the middle of a school village visit. Whispering a count-down to try and un-nerve his friend a little more, the young wizard moved the broom forward. "Four.". "Three.". "Two.". Rukevra paused slightly as he tipped the broom down-wards. "One.".

Pushing as best he could against the broom, the young Gryffindor moved them through the air at an increasing speed; the ground fast approaching them. With seemingly well-timed reactions, the young boy raised the tip of the broom as they once again avoided a collision. Cutting mere inches above the ground, Rukevra pulled the broom up-wards sharply; and began to climb. The speed of the two never decreasing once.

Feeling the drag from having a passenger, the fifth year gripped onto the broom and forced it around the initial top part of the loop. The decent would be the easiest part, but if everything went wrong now; it wouldn't be pretty. Fortunately, after several seconds, the broom, and the two occupants up-on it, completed the difficult part of the loop. Once they where aimed down-wards, Rukevra let out a whoop of enjoyment and raced back towards the ground. Adrenaline coursed through each one of his veins.

As Patricia held on for dear life, quite literally, she continued to bury her head in Ruki's back, her eyes shut tight. She knew if she watched him do the actual stunt she would be more afraid than if she just let him do it without her interferring, the last thing she wanted was for her friend to get distracted and loose control of the broom mid rotation. She felt the speed and their height increase, she knew it was coming and soon. She couldn't shake the feeling of unease in the pit of her stomach as Ruki stopped mid flight, what was he doing? She lifted her head from his back she watched him as he observed their surroundig area, Patricia joined in wondering if he had seen anything to make him stop - but she saw nothing out of the ordinary. Looking around one last time she heard Ruki whispering but she only caught the end of what he was saying and as soon as he finished she felt a sudden desent, causing her to let out a scream before leaning back on Ruki.

As the decent finished Patricia felt a pressure pushing her down to her seat and she knew the stunt had begun. Closing her eyes even tighter she let out another small scream laced with obvious excitement; she may be scared but she was enjoying it. When the pressure eased she lifted her head and saw that they had successfully did the loop-the-loop. She laughed at her friends outburst but she quickly joined in, this was definiately something to be proud off. Not many people could pull off that stunt, especially with an extra passenger. Continuing to hold on tightly to her friend she leaned in said, "I think we should land now before we push our luck any further." Although it was only a suggestion, she was enjoying herself to allow it to go on for longer, but she didn't know how much longer they could be lucky for.

With his heart beating in excitement, Rukevra barely heard his friend's words mentioning to land. Pulling the broom to a steady stop, the young wizard turned to the girl behind him. "How are you feeling?". The smile up-on his own face was broad. Allowing the broom to lower, the young wizard waited for his friend to dis-mount; before doing so himself.

Stretching himself slightly, Rukevra began to feel the aches of riding a broom. It wasn't as bad as a Quidditch game, but it certainly warranted a sit down with a hot drink and a meal. Looking towards the Hufflepuff, the young boy gave a small smile. "I feel a decent sized meal is required.". The fifth year was certainly hungry at this point.

Patricia felt the broom starting to descend but at a much slower rate than she had become accustomed to during the broom ride. As she got off the broom she looked up at her friend, beaming. "A little shaky but apart from that I feel great!" she exclaimed. Feeling a mixture of adreline and some nerves still going through her body Patricia tried to gain her composure. She glanced back at her friend as she heard his words, she had been enjoying herself so much she hadn't even thought about food. Although now that they were back on solid ground she did feel a bit hungry, after all she hadn't eatten since breakfast and that was a good few hours ago. "I do believe you are correct sir." she said in a silly voice with her usual laugh. "Where too?" she asked, making her way out of the field and back to the main village.

Patricia's words gave the young wizard chance to relax slightly. She was still enjoying herself, so he hadn't messed anything up so far. Smiling slightly as the young Hufflepuff put on a silly voice, Rukevra began to wonder where they could stop for a decent sized meal. A walk back to the castle would take longer than heading into the village; and would also put an end to their day out. Picking up his broom, the young wizard thought about vanishing it back to his dormitory; but then thought against it as they hadn't yet covered such large objects.

Answering his friends question, Rukevra shrugged his shoulders. "What about that broom-stick place.". A smile crept across his lips as he listened to his own words. Following his friend from the field, the young wizard glanced back-over; he had enjoyed the time in the air. If one thing could be said about the day, apart from the enjoyment, the Gryffindor Beater now knew how to handle his newest broom better than his older one.

And now we relax:

As the affect of adrenaline began to fade with-in him, Rukevra walked along-side Patricia on their way to the Three Broom-sticks. "Everyone rushing around makes me want to take flight again.", Rukevra spoke to the young girl; whilst fellow students moved back and forth between shops. Spotting the public house slightly to his side, the young wizard shifted his direction slightly. A quiet sit down would be welcomed more than a walk through the village.

This is going here because the village closes tomorrow. So I now have to rush everything I wanted to do.
