Apparition,6,3Before the end of the lesson, Irene Finch hoped that all of the students would succeed in apparating to their target. This was the last practice after all. Several of the students had managed to apparate during the last lesson, but that didn't always translate to success at the exam.

Irene addressed the small group of sixth years. "Today, we will resume practicing" she began, her icy blue eyes staring at each of the students in turn as she spoke. "I am hopeful that those of you who weren't able to apparate last week will do so this week. The next time we meet will be your exam and you will only get one opportunity to succeed or fail. Your test will require you to be accurate when you apparate." She let that sink in before continuing on.

"Line up beside me please." It didn't take them long to queue up. "Alright...I'd like you all to attempt apparating from this end of the Great Hall to that end" she said, pointing towards the doors of the Great Hall. "The red X marks the spot" she added, knowing that they had probably noticed an X etched onto the floor with magic as they walked in. Glancing at all the students beside her, she hoped there would be no splinchings today, though she had asked for one of the school nurses to join just in case. "You can begin whenever you're ready" she said to the student who was first in line. "As soon as you feel comfortable, you may leave. But, please do remember that this is your final opportunity to practice before your exam." They were adults by wizarding standards or close enough anyway, so she wasn't going to force any of them to stay. It was in their best interests to take advantage of the time provided to them though.

Practice attempting to apparate one by one. Practice as many times as you'd like. Please warn me via PM if you plan on splinching.

Darcy's sense of accomplishment from having successfully Apparated during the last lesson had long since worn off and now it was replaced with doubt. She worried that her successful attempts last year had been a fluke and she wouldn't be able to do it again, especially from a further distance. Still, she kept her face void of any anxiety as she walked into the emptied great hall for their final lesson. She breathed heavily when she saw the red X at the end of the hall. Most of the time she thought this great hall wasn't big enough even for their dances, but now the length of it all seemed slightly intimidating. She lined up with the rest of the rest of the sixth years so they could all practice individually. As if the pressure wasn't already bad enough, now they had the added anxiety of failing in front of all their peers. Before Darcy could begin to take her mind down that frightening path, she began to concentrate on the Three D's like they were told to and tried to recall every tip she had read about in her free time. Darcy Pratt did not fail things and she was most of all not going to make an idiot of herself in front of everyone.

When it was her turn, Darcy smiled at the instructor who nodded for her to go and then the redhead took a deep breath. She stared at the red X from far away and then closed her eyes so she could imagine what it would be like to stand on the other end of the hall. Don't forget your hair! Darcy reminded herself urgently before attempting to Apparate. When Darcy opened her eyes she huffed out a surprised laugh when she saw herself across the rest of the students from where they had been standing in line together. But then she saw that she hadn't quite made it on the red X like she was supposed to. Instead Darcy was a few feet off. She chewed on her bottom lip because the instructor had told them that they would be looking for accuracy in the exam and she didn't know how much leeway they'd give them as far as range. Darcy sighed frustrated with herself, not even proud of how far she had done it this time. Afterward she went to a separated part of the hall and spent the rest of the time practicing until she felt slightly better about herself. She had improved, but she didn't know if the instructor would have noticed since she had been walking around helping others the entire time. Darcy simply didn't like that she hadn't been able to do it perfectly in front of everyone else which was when it mattered. She hoped that wouldn't happen in the exam next time and worked until the last moment they had before they were ushered out.

Bob Masters arrived in the Great Hall for their last apparition lesson before the exam. If he didn't manage to do it today, there would be basically no hope for him to pass the exam next time they were in here together. He took his spot in the line, and sighed. He hadn't been able to do it the last couple of times he had been here but he was feeling good about this lesson. He smiled at the instructor and began to focus on apparating across the room to the spot that they had all been told to go to. He spent the lesson focusing on the X across the classroom and a little bit before the end of the lesson he found himself appearing on the other side of the classroom and he grinned to himself. He managed to do it a couple more times before they were dismissed and all of a sudden he felt a bit more confident as he left the classroom.

As Isabelle entered the Great Hall for her third apparition lesson, she felt quite nervous. She didn't like the idea of apparating as splinching was one of her worst fears but went to her lessons nonetheless. After all, the people teaching them were professionals and so she hoped that if anything bad were to happen to anyone that they would know how to handle it. Taking a deep breath, she joined the line and secretly hoped that it would be a repeat of the last lesson and she wouldn't be able to do it. However, she wanted to be able to do it just like her classmates so she didn't stand out among them and so she tried her best. Clenching her hands into fists to stop them from shaking, she focused on the X across the classroom with her eyes closed and upon opening them she realised other people had moved but she hadn't. She didn't manage to join them until a couple of more tries and she hadn't realised she had even done it until she opened her eyes. The Ravenclaw beamed, feeling quite proud of herself but knowing that it took quite a lot of willpower. She felt tired, and when the lesson ended, she headed to her common room for a short nap.

Danielle entered the Great Hall and noticed the red X mark on the floor. She knew that they were going to practice apparating before their test. She has managed to successfully apparating from one side of her bed to the other. Thankfully, there were no splinching accidents that happened to her unlike other people. Now, she was anxious because they were to cover a longer distance than the two sides of her bed.

They were instructed to fall in line and somehow she ended up the fourth person in line. One by one she watched as her classmates tried apparating successfully. Accuracy., she thought along with the three Ds. When it was her turn, she shook out her hands to relieve the tension and nerves and started focusing. She focused until all she could see in front of her was a vision of a red X mark. Right then and there, she apparated. The usual sensation of apparition passed and she found herself at the end of the Great Hall. She looked around satisfyingly before she looked down to see if she hit her mark. Surprisingly, she did. Overwhelmed with happiness, she sat down first to get her bearings back before trying it again.

She was able to try it many times before the professor dismissed the class. Danielle felt confident enough to take the test which would happen a few days from now. She went back to her dormitory to fetch her guitar before heading out to the lake.

Olivia wasn't looking forward to the final apparation lesson. The previous lesson she had not moved an inch while others around her were succeeding. It was disheartening and she wasn't looking forward to making a fool of herself in front of the rest of her classmates. Olivia made her way into the Great hall and noticed the red X on the floor. The ministry woman instructed them to line up and that they would be practicing apparating from one side of the Great hall to the other. Olivia was terrified but she was determined to do it this time. She waited in line as one by one students before her attempted to apparate. Some with more success than others, but soon it was her turn. I can do this she thought to herself as she stepped forward. Olivia thought about the three D's, she visualised where she wanted to be and she visualised getting there, all of her. Olivia opened her eyes and found herself standing on the other side of the room. She appeared to be in one peace so she let out a huge sigh of relief. Glad she had managed it, she left once they were dismissed.

Hanish looked at the X plastered on the floor with a raised eyebrow. If he had any doubt about where he needed to go, that basically cleared it up. It was rather jarring to find that the instructor clearly thought she was dealing with idiots (to him, anyway), and Hamish wasn't finding himself a fan of this back-handed hand-holding at all. He'd had plenty of time to stew over his dislike of their instructor, and at least this benefitted his Determination, though now he was more determined to prove that he could apparate, more than being actually determined to get anywhere. The Slytherin slowly approached the start of the line as his cohort continued along with their aparating, taking note in their techniques, and whether it worked for them or not. He took a cautious outfit today, electing to wear a shirt and elastic slacks to avoid losing any more buttons, whilst he found a comfortable alternative with shoe without shoelaces. He was about as prepared as he was ever going to get, all he had to do was not distract himself with his distain for the situation, and just be the best.

Even Bob did it, for Merlin's sake, and if he could do it, then the Slytherin felt it was his job to do it, too. Wiping his hands on his upper thighs as a nervous tick (that he would deny until he died), Hamish focused on his destination, after doing a lot of Deliberation and being pretty Determined. The trip, as uncomfortable feeling as before, was eventually achieved and Hamish, not being a complete child, refused himself the right to fistpump the air at his success. It hadn't been easy, but he would sooner splinch himself than let anyone else know that.
