Each year, Irene Finch represented the Ministry in coming to the school to give the students the tools they would need to pass their apparition exam. She was pleased that Minister Kingsley had approved her continuing to come to the school for these lessons. With an icy smile that didn't reach her blue eyes, the woman crossed her arms and waited for the sixth year students to arrive.

"Good afternoon, sixth years. My name is Irene Finch and I'm here on behalf of the Department of Magical Transportation to prepare you for your apparition exam." Irene paced the front a bit and then addressed them all once more. "Headmistress Davershire has been kind enough to lift the enchantment placed on this room so that you will be able to practice apparating within these walls for the duration of our lessons."

The woman shook her head, her brown hair falling across her shoulders. "I will warn you from the start that your ability to apparate will have little to do with what house you are in or your blood status. Your ability to apparate will, however, depend on your focusing on the three Ds: Destination.Determination. Deliberation." She pronounced each word slowly and loudly, punctuated by the click of her heels, so that even the students standing in the back of the room could hear her. "First, you must choose your destination. Next, you will focus your determination and once you feel you are ready..." With a small step, Irene apparated next to one of the sixth years who had been talking while she was and continued speaking, "you must move with deliberation like so." It hardly took her any effort to send herself around the room. Some thought that her slight frame was a result of having apparated so many times. She didn’t think so, though she was certain that it made things easier on her.

Moving towards the front of the room, Irene continued lecturing the students. She knew that some were probably expecting to apparate today but she also knew that the foundation for apparating started with this information. "Don't forget the 3 Ds and I will see you all next time. A word to the wise: Don't bring anything but yourselves to the next lesson. The less you carry, the easier it will be." She smiled briefly, but then her face turned serious again as she remembered something she had nearly forgotten to tell the students. Holding up a hand, Irene asked them for their attention once more. In a warning tone, she told them "And, just as a reminder...the moment you step out of this room, the enchantment will be put back in place until next time we meet. It would be very, very unwise to consider apparating anywhere on the school grounds until then." With that, she dismissed the students and began to gather up her things so that she could get back to the office.

RP the lesson. Nothing fancy is necessary, but remember that these lessons are so that your student can earn a license. This is just the first of only three lessons before the exam takes place.

Apparition was one of the classes that Aaren Nightray had been looking forward to the most. She wasn't a big fan of using portkeys for travel, and while there were brooms, it would be more efficient and quick to apparate to her desired destination instead. The amount of field trips that they had last semester and the amount of times that she had to travel using a portkey had only strengthened her motivation to learn and get a license to apparate. Being a pureblood, one would have expected that she was used to portkeys, but she wasn't. She didn't like the feeling of traveling using one.

The young prefect was up early, excitement evident on the way she walked and the way she hummed softly as she made her way towards the great hall for her first apparition class. She had heard that this wouldn't be easy. But it was fine. She had faced a lot of difficult lessons before. What could be more difficult than having to attend a class with Professor Styx? She shivered at the thought. She had nothing against her DADA professor. He was great. He was really good at his craft. But despite being under his class for almost six years now, she still feels nervous when he's around.

The Gryffindor was among the first ones to arrive. She looked around and talked to a few students who were already there while waiting for their professor to arrive. Their professor would be from the ministry. It was can be a little intimidating, but she wanted to do well in this class. If she was able to survive last semester and finish with outstanding grades, why couldn't she do it now? She smiled to herself, she could do this. Perhaps she really was growing up already. No longer was she the girl who just sails through life and just take things as they are. Yes, she was still as clumsy as ever. She was still unsure about what she wanted to do in the future. But one thing that she was sure about was that she did not want to rely on her family's name anymore. She was going to make a name for herself. It took her a while to realize this, but it was better late than never.

It didn't take long and soon, they were being addressed by a respectable woman from the ministry. The Gyrffindor stopped talking and turned her full attention to their professor. She listened attentively. She didn't pride herself for being extremely smart, or for being extremely attentive, or for having a sharp memory. But she had her passion and her determination. It would be hard, but she could do this. She repeated the three words that they must remember if they wanted to succeed in apparating. Destination. Determination. Deliberation. She repeated it in order to remember it more easily. She watched as their professor apparated, disappearing from her position and appearing next to a student who was talking while their professor was having her lecture. Aaren couldn't help but sigh a little. She was talkative, but even she knew not to talk when the professor was talking.

It was a little disappointing that they were not going to apparate today. What was even more disappointing was that after this lesson, they couldn't practice because the enchantment that had been lifted in order to allow them to apparate would be put back into place. She had thought about practicing too, after all, more often than not, she had to practice really hard before she could perfect one spell. Hopefully, the one time that they would be allowed to try it out, she could get it right. She didn't really want to lose a finger or two. Realizing that she was being pessimistic, she lightly slapped her cheeks. "Can't think of negative thoughts right now. I'll be fine." She whispered to herself, smiling lightly as she waved goodbye to their professor. Yes. There was no use worrying about what would happen right now. Instead, she could use the time to do the things that she needed to do. Like the prefect patrol to start with.

Mandalyn was impossibly nervous. She supposed she had nothing to worry about. She had been side-apparating with her father for years. The petite blonde made her way to the great hall, and appropriate place for the practices that would be held. She was only the second of the students to arrive, arriving next to a ginger haired Gryffindor that she had seen a few times around the school. She offered the girl a warm smile, seeing that she seemed more excited than nervous. What a lucky girl to be excited over this class. Wasn't she concerned with splinching? That thought gave Mandalyn shivers, and she began to murmur under her breath. Perhaps that was why the professor chose to apparate beside her. She hadn't been talking to anyone else, but she also hadn't been paying attention. Andi jumped slightly, but slowly returned to a normal level of adrenaline and listened.

She was relieved upon hearing that they would not be apparating, but the fact that next time may be a different story caused her stomach to turn queasy. She was sure she wouldn't be eating before the next lesson. With that thought in her mind, she repeated the three d's of apparation in her head over and over again to try and remember them. She would have to talk to Dexter about her anxiety, he always seemed to calm her down, even if strange things seemed to happen around him - like the time his wallet turned into a bird. That wasn't important though, and she knew that next time she couldn't afford thoughts about anything else. With a small gulp, she made her way downstairs.

Sage was looking forward to this to no end. She had been waiting to be able to learn this since she'd first heard about it. It was just one of the things that witches and wizards did so that they more easily move around which made her smile a lot. She couldn't wait. It was pretty exciting and the fact the day was finally upon her to begin learning it made her smile even more. This was one of the only things that Sage had actually been looking forward to since she had arrived at the school. More than electives or anything like that. Stepping into the Great Hall for this lesson was different than it had ever been before. She didn't know what it was about it that just made her smile happily to no end. She stood with the few other people left in her year and since she was actually happy about this gave them both a small smile. It was just easier to do that when she was actually looking forward to something than at any other time. She wasn't sure how easy this would be, but she was just looking forward absolutely to get started. Apparition was hard, she knew that and there was a risk involved, but Sage was than sure that she was more than capable. More than able to do it. She was a sixth year, and while not overly academically inclined she was sure that she would be fine.

The woman at the front of the room, was not a professor that Sage was aware of, perhaps she just came to the school to teach this one class, which the professor then told them when she started speaking. That was pretty interesting. She wondered how much of this woman's job was teaching people how to apparate. In any case, Sage ignored her mind and listened to the professor, listened to what she was saying, it was pretty simple really. Sage was not worried about it really. She'd done no previous research on the subject but she knew there likely wasn't too much involved. This lesson it seemed like any first lesson at Hogwarts was just one of instruction. She could by the way the professor was speaking that she would not be apparating in this class. Perhaps in the next. But, in any case. She was happy that these lesson were underway and soon she'd know how to apparate, which would be an extremely valuable skill. She knew it would be. Happily when the class was then dismissed she walked away leaving the hall. She'd brought nothing with her, and had no intention of bringing anything with her next time she needed to be in this class. It was just easier to not have anything. She didn't need anything besides her wand, and since the experience of Styx taking her wand she always kept it close to her now.
