Apparition Lesson #1

[Irene Finch]

Irene stood at the front of the room, wearing her ministry robes. She smiled as the students filed into the Great Hall. The school had been extremely accommodating in providing her with space to prepare their students for the exam they would have to take in order to earn a wizarding license.

As the last sixth year entered, Irene began. “Hello everyone. My name is Irene Finch and I’m here on behalf of the Department of Magical Transportation to prepare you for your apparition exam.” Irene took a few steps and continued. “Your headmistress and headmaster have been kind enough to lift the enchantment placed on this room so that you will be able to practice apparating within these walls.”

Smiling at a girl who looked rather nervous, Irene continued to lecture. “In order to apparate successfully, you must focus on the three Ds: Destination. Determination. Deliberation.” She pronounced each word slowly and loudly so that even the students standing in the back could hear her. “First, you must choose your destination. Next, you will focus your determination and once you feel you are ready..” With a small step, Irene apparated to the back of the Great Hall and continued speaking, “you must move with deliberation towards your destination like so.”

Apparating back to the front, Irene considered allowing the students to make an attempt today, but realized that there wasn’t enough time. “I think that will be all for today. Don’t forget the 3 Ds and I will see you all next week.” She smiled briefly noticing that there were several dissappointed faces, but then her face turned serious again as she remembered something she had nearly forgotten to tell the students. In a warning tone, she told them, “And, just as a reminder. ..the moment you step out of this room, the anti-apparation jinx will be put back in place until next week. It would be very unwise to consider apparating anywhere on the school grounds until then.”

[Kailey Harrington]

Kailey walked into the Great Hall, butterflies assaulting her stomach. Apparition Lessons! Chances are they probably wouldn't do anything that day but go over exactly what Apparition was, and some of it's finer points. But it was the feeling of knowing what she was going to learn over the Semester that had her so nervous, yet excited at the same time. Once everyone filed into the room the large double doors shut behind them and her attention was focused on the woman at the front of the room.

Kailey was taking everything in, her head snapping back and forth as the woman apparated from one end of the room to the other. Now repeating the three D's over and over again in her head. Destination. Determination. Deliberation., Destination. Determination. Deliberation., Destination. Determination. Deliberation., Destination. Determination. Deliberation., Destination. Determination. Deliberation. she thought. The lesson was over sooner than she had thought, She left the room wondering when they would actually try out the advanced magic.

 

[Kasey Blake]

Kasey was very nervous about this Saturday, their first Apparation lesson was going to be in session. Finally when it was Saturday, Kasey dressed in her school uniform, a knee-length skirt, a white, short sleeved shirt and a blue cloak. Wearing her lucky and favorite butterfly necklace she walked towards the Great Hall.

On reaching it, she swallowed hard and prayed in her mind. She noticed all the house tables had been removed and the hall was completely empty. A few familiar faces greeted her and she greeted back.She walked to stand by Jasper and whispered to him "I am feeling scared." As she had expected from him, he assured her that it would be okay, always the brave Gryffindor he was.

With a smile and feeling no confidence in her Kasey listened to Irene. As she told them to start with the Three D's and keep practicing only within the walls of Great Hall for the hour or so, Kasey took a deep breath and begun. Focus....Destination. Determination. Deliberation she thought with a groan

 

[Fenton Longestine]

Fenton entered the hall and looked about him, there was no sign of Trista yet but no matter he was sure he'd see her soon and then he had to do a double take. There was a girl who looked exactly like her. He figured this must be the twin he had heard of and gave her a smile as he passed her by. He didn't pay attention to any of the students usually in their classes but for Aries and Trista.

Walking to a place near the back still in ear shot but far enough away so as not to be called on for demonstration purposes, Fenton stuffed his hands into his pockets and awaited the class. When finally it kicked off he turned to Aries with a grin.
"Bet you splinch first mate" he grinned turning back to Ms Finch as she announced the three D's, "Destination. Determination. Deliberation".

He figured that should be easy to remember and when the class was over and they hadn't even made a single attempt, he was amazed at how relieved he was by this.

 

[Ashley Dallamoor]

Ashley was getting ready for their first apparition lesson and she's been waiting for it all year. If she passed this course then she will be having her own license, she will not going to side-apparate with her brother anymore just to go at the Obsidian Harbour. Wearing her nice clothes. Walking inside of the great hall, Ashley went at the side to not cost trouble when she tried to apparate. But on the sad part was they are not going to try to apparate today, Ashley sigh and continued to listen to the instructor in front. Saying to remember the three D's, Ashley really hoped that she will remember it that good. She is not that good in memorizing words.

While memorizing, the instructor said to remember that the anti-apparation jinx will be put on. Ashley was quiet proud to herself as remember all the instructor lesson. After the lesson, they were dismissed, glad to be out of the place. Ashley went back to her common room and started her studying on her last weeks lessons.

 

[Aries Centauri]

Aries made his way into the hall and on seeing Fenton joined me near the back though he would much have preferred to be closer still he smiled at him before looking about.
"Good enough turn out" he whispered, "Is the bet still on?" he grinned referring to the bet that Harrison, Fenton and Aries had regarding the apparation class. Harrison had done his the year before and had been splinch free, so the race was on to see if both of them could do the same. Of course they had begun to fool around over the Christmas break saying that Fenton would definitely lose some piece of himself and so a wager had been made. Though they all fervently hoped that no damage befell their friend, they knew he was prone to distraction very easily and would be the one most likely to splinch on the first day.

When the class got underway and it became clear to them that the most they were going to do was repeat the 3 D's, Aries felt a bit robbed. He had seriously been looking forward to making an attempt. With class dismissed he patted Fenton on the shoulder.
"Looks like you survived for another week mate" he chuckled as they left together.
