After several weeks worth of lessons, it was finally time for the sixth years to show what they had learned. Irene Finch sat in a chair against the far wall of the Great Hall. The tables that were usually set in the room had been stood up and pushed against the walls, by magic of course Beside her, hovering in mid-air was a clipboard and quill. They were ready to be used. Ms. Finch crossed her legs as the students began to arrive. It would be a very easy day for her, but not so easy for the students. Today would be the day that would bring them one step closer to adulthood, if they were successful. If the student failed, they would have to attempt the test again.
Once most of the students were present, Irene stood and addressed them all, her blue eyes conveying the seriousness of what she was saying. "When I call your name, come forward. You will be asked to apparate from point A" she pointed to the X marked on the floor immediately to her left, "to point B" she pointed to a spot next to the entrance to the Great Hall. It wasn't terribly far but it would require a great deal of concentration and effort to get to the correct spot. "If you do not land on that X, you will fail." She wasn't going to sugercoat things for them. They were not little kids anymore.
"Good luck to you all" she added before looking at her clipboard and beginning to call names.
