Kanuha laughed heartily with his brothers whom was out for a drink with. It was a nice open bar by the beach - tourists surrounded them with smiles on their faces and Kanuha and his friends spoke poorly of how they often treated the area and the locals. Many of them likened him to some stereotype for his size and appearance - which was frustrating. The only good thing they ever brought were girls. Pretty, tall, thin girls from the mainland or from other countries. It was a new selection all year round, and for the eligible bachelors it was easy pickings. Their accents were quite attractive apparently - or so Kanuha had been told countless times. The burly man stood and stretched from his seat, looking around. There across the way from him, wading in the water was a woman of blonde perfection - and he grinned. "E nānā iā ia." (Look at her) the man spoke to his friends, elbowing one in the side causing him to spill some drink. His friend gave him a shove and Kanuha rolled his large round eyes and made his way over, a plan formulating. Then he grinned wide - his mind going to what he thought would work splendidly.

Kanuha waited until the girl was out ion water deep enough to be considered 'dangerous'. Then he dove after her, and swam up to her, grabbing her up out of the water and carrying her bridal style. "I've got you you're safe. You know main-landers like you shouldn't go that deep into the water." Kanuha pretended as if she had been drowning, which it didn't look like it was even close to the case. As he reached the sand he smiled. "You're welcome."

Clementine Mitchell lived with her Grandmother. A woman completely devoid of any sort of compassion in any form, especially the kind of compassion one would expect for ones grandchild. However after the amount of time she had spent there, Clementine was more than prepared for the rude and cruel things her Grandmother often came out with. Melinda was spiteful, hateful, hurtful and a whole bunch of other things, that made her a terrible person to have to deal with on a mostly daily basis. However, against her sanity, Clem still loved her Grandmother even with all she had put her through. Clementine tried to spend as little time as possible anywhere near her Grandmother, she spent a lot of time with her nannying service so that she could escape the woman and stay somewhere where she wasn't being ridiculed every five minutes or having to listen to her Grandmother telling her what a terrible man her father was. Not only did she not believe it, she knew it was ridiculous as she was always sure her Grandmother was warped when it came to her father. Clementine was a muggleborn, and this angered her Grandmother because she despised anything she considered to not be normal, and simply blamed her father for the magic. However Clementine had studied her family history and she is now almost entirely certain that it was the culmination of the two family lines together that produced her magic, otherwise why would she suddenly be the one to have magic and not her mother or even her Grandmother? It just made more sense to her that her reasoning was true.

In an attempt to get into her Grandmother's good books, Clementine had spent four years of her life after graduating from Hogwarts in University studying a business management degree, except she had never actually gone to seek a job in that area once her Grandmother still refused to accept her. She wasn't sure what else she was supposed to do to get the woman to accept her. Instead, Clementine decided that she didn't want to go home straight after she'd graduated. Clementine had instead become a nanny for a wealthy family which meant she was able to live with them. She wasn't a muggle or a magical nanny, she tended to work for both as they had alternating times when she was needed and she didn't have anywhere to stay on her own without going back to her grandmother's place. This made her happy as she didn't earn much anyway and because her Grandmother had effectively cut off her inheritance, she had to find some way of supporting herself. A beach was in her sights today. She'd decided to take a holiday over her break to wind down after a stressful year and to make sure her Grandmother couldn't do anything to upset her more than she already had. Her Grandmother had no idea of her finances anyway so she wasn't likely to know if she was getting paid more or less then she was supposed to at any given time anyway; it was basically foolproof.

The beach was lovely and warm, as she would expect from somewhere like Hawaii. She'd chosen it specifically because it wasn't like her native England. Maybe one day she would have the courage to actually tell her grandmother she was leaving and never coming back. Though she liked England well enough, it was full of painful memories she would rather forget. Though she was a little shy at beaches, in part due to her porcelain white skin, Clem had elected to wear a bikini to the beach, which she of course decided to match with a top so that she didn't get too sunburnt. Even with skin cream, she knew that it was likely she would burn and go red as a tomato. She'd look ridiculous, like a blonde tomato in a white sauce or something. She couldn't imagine. She was enjoying herself in the water when she was suddenly, shockingly, lifted high out of the water and walked back to the shore. She stared, in shock, at the guy who'd picked her up as he deposited her on the ground, unsure what she was supposed to do now. He was... quite frankly, amazing to look at and she reached out to him to feel his arms before yelping and jumping back. "Um, uh, what was that for?"
