Mercury had been trying to make friends, but it wasn't as easy as everyone was telling her. Instead, she had resorted to creating her own space within an empty lavatory, because at least it was quiet. Last year, she'd been missing her fort in the woods behind her house, and this was somewhat the same. Thankfully, Mercury had made friends with one of the castle elves who promised to keep her belongings safe if she left them their over the break. As the Ravenclaw entered the very last stall, there was a dark bag stuffed in the waterless tank of the commode waiting to be back in her hands. Mercury climbed onto of the bowl to obtain it before jumping down and sitting on the floor, stall door left open. Out of the bag came a jewlery box holding probably 50 needles and a few stray matches from her transfiguration practice the year before, a few rogue ruins from her every day collection, two decks of cards, one tarot and one an ordinary playing set, a silver cloth about 3 times the size of the jewlery box, and a turquoise journal and quill. Laying out her collection, Mercury opened a small bag she'd pulled from her robe pocket and placed the extra ruins in it, returning them to their home. Out of her other pocket, she pulled a small bottle of ink, setting her journal up to write in. She'd been having odd dreams and visions for years, but since she'd started school, they'd become worse and more often. Someone, she didn't remember who, had suggested keeping track of them, which she was determined to do in one place. The one she had the night before was paticularly memorable, feeling very real as she started to write it down.

As much as Roo liked dragging random people along on her adventures, she also much preferred to do them on her own sometimes. The girl hadn't explored very much of the castle last year, or at least not enough to keep her satisfied. There was still so much more to uncover and so many doors that she hadn't yet opened to see what was on the other side. She didn't quite have a plan of how she would explore the castle however, as she figured that whatever was meant to come to her, would, and she wasn't going to rush things.

Roo wandered around the corridors, staring at the paintings she walked past, until she came across a door she hadn't seen before on the fifth floor. She pushed it open, quickly realising it was an old lavatory. But why was it there? Why would they waste a whole lavatory? Why wouldn't they make it newer so that people could use it? What was so special about it? The girl wandered a bit further into the room, closing the door behind her, until she heard the sound of some rustling coming from one of the cubicles. This startled her a little, but she stayed on her toes, walking closer towards the sound of the noise. She could hear some scribbling on a piece of paper. Someone was definitely there. She peeked her head around the corner, looking into the cubicle as she noticed the familiar face of one of her roommates. "Oh, what are you doing?" she asked curiously, stepping out so the girl could see her.

Mercury had been scribbling what felt like unhinged ramblings across page after page in her journal until she heard the door to the lavatory creak. Looking up, she heard footsteps and quickly closed her journal, stuffing it back in the bag as she hurriedly tried gathering her belongings, as well. However, she was too slow, and one of her roommates appeared before her. Mercury stopped, setting the bag down slowly beside her before looking up at Ruto. "Nothing."

The Ravenclaw knew that one word was not deemed as a proper conversation, but how did she explain why she was in an old lavatory? Mercury took a breath as she picked up the regular set of playing cards. "I was going to play a card game," she said, mustering a small smile. It wasn't exactly untrue. She was going to play with cards, but it likely would have just been her tarot cards. "It's quiet here."

Roo couldn't help but think her roommate was acting quite suspicious. A card game all by herself? Roo just shrugged, figuring it wasn't her place to judge. Perhaps Roo was stepping into the girl's personal space, however it was a public bathroom, so despite feeling as though she was intruding slightly, Roo figured she could at least hang around for a little while. "What sort of card game?" she asked curiously, staring at the deck of cards she had retrieved out of her bag. "It is very quiet in here, that's for sure. Is that why you're in here? Do you prefer the peacefulness of silence?"

Mercury looked up reluctantly at Roo. She had not really bonded with any of the roommates the year prior, and it felt odd to even be talking to her at all. Sighing, she put her tarot cards to the side and took the traditional deck out of it's box. "Solitare was the plan," she continued, shuffling the deck by breaking the cards in half and flipping letting them fall from her thumbs. Maybe if she heard this was a solo card game, she'd leave the bathroom. "Here is the right amount of quiet. Like, the library is too quiet. But people don't ever come in here so it has become very peaceful. Because people don't come in here," she said, giving Roo a quick glance before she started to place the cards down on the cloth. She knew this was not the whole "making friends" thing her mums and aunt had spoken with her about, but she just wanted to be able to use the space. It wasn't exactly true no one ever came in, as the school was large, but Mercury had taken to making noises in an attempt to scare any onlookers off usually. It didn't always work, but even though ghosts were somewhat normal to see around, most kids still weren't a fan. As she continued sorting her cards, placing each one in its spot, the cards started to change colors from blue to green before dissolving in her hands. Mercury gasped, closing her eyes tight as she let all the remaining cards fall onto the mat before opening them quickly and see that nothing she thought she saw just happened. Mercury tried not to look at Roo before picking up her cards to sort again.
