Although she had been told time and again that becoming a mother was an experience like no other, it wasn’t until that moment when she became a mother that Cyndi Kingsley truly understood what everyone was talking about. From that moment on January 13th , Cyndi’s life had changed completely. Gone were the days when she controlled her own schedule and slept when she wanted to. Now, her life revolved around that of her son, Noah. The first month had been the most rough and she knew that her husband had gone to work many a day without the proper amount of sleep that he needed to function as the Head of the Unspeakable office. Thankfully, she didn’t have work to worry about. She’d spoken with the Minister, who had still been overseeing the school at the time, and arranged to take several months off to care for her child. It had been a smart move on her part because just the thought of teaching and then coming home to feed, bathe and care for her son was mind-numbing. He was a full-time job and that didn’t even take into consideration her husband who she loved to spend time with as well. It was all such a huge adjustment. The woman knew that she did want to teach again and planned to do so come September, but for now she was content on being a mommy, and sending the odd owl to the school to ensure that her Gryffindors were behaving as they should.

While Noah slept, Cyndi had left him in his crib to go downstairs and cook dinner for her husband. At nearly three months, Noah was sleeping for several hours at a time, allowing her to regain a small portion of her life back. And, visitors had died down. For the first month, it felt as if she had a new guest in her home every single day. Not that she minded. She had certainly needed the assistance, knowing next to nothing of caring for a small child. Some of it, like feeding, seemed to come naturally but other things, like diaper changing, were acquired talents. And, she had craved the company too since her husband’s hours at work often meant he wasn’t around. Setting some potatoes to bake in the oven, Cyndi used her wand to summon some vegetables which she began to cut. The woman hummed quietly to herself, her ears listening to the magical baby monitor. So far, there was silence. Sweeping the cut vegetables into a bowl, the mother sent them to the sink to rinse. Her brown eyes lifted towards the clock, wondering if her husband would make it home at his normal time or if he would be kept late. Mrs. Kingsley wondered if she would have enough time to run up and change out of the t-shirt and yoga pants she was wearing, but she decided against it with a sigh. At least her hair looked alright since she had hastily brushed it and thrown it into a ponytail not too long ago. Cameron has seen you look worse than this, Cyndi she reminded herself as she returned to the stove.

Cameron Kingsley was exhausted as he finished putting away his work for the day. Lately, Cameron had not been getting the amount of sleep that he was accustomed to getting. Noah Kingsley had changed Cameron and Cyndi's normal routine in so many different ways. He had changed diapers and fed bottles to his sister's children when they had babysat them, but he had always been able to give Lyra and Link back to their parents. He hadn't known that Noah would become the most important factor in his life. Though it was not something he would ever change. Cameron loved his son completely, however, he now had a new respect for his sister raising twins. He couldn't fathom that idea. Cameron looked at his watch as he locked up his office. He was anxious to get home to his wife and son. He was trying to be around as much as his job would allow him to be. Cam knew that Cyndi needed his help. She had been able to take the term off thankfully, something that Cameron could have never done.

Cameron straightened his robe as he apparated onto the front porch of the home that he shared with Cyndi and Noah. The young man walked through the door as quietly as possible. He didn't want to wake mother or baby if they were managing to get some sleep. He dropped his briefcase by the door where he would pick it up when he left the next morning. Cameron walked into the kitchen, knowing that if Cyndi wasn't asleep, that was where she would be. A smile lit his face as he saw his wife. Cameron went to her, giving her a kiss on the cheek. "Noah asleep?" he asked, raising a brow. "How was your day, Mrs. Kingsley?" he asked her with a teasing smile. It was unfair that left her alone during the day. "Anyone come by today?" Cameron asked curiously. The flow of visitors was slowly ebbing.

Cyndi’s hearing had sharpened since having Noah. Otherwise, she might not have heard Cameron as he entered the house. As it was, she barely did. She had only just heard a small click and had begun to wonder if it was the door by the time her husband was already in front of her, looking as devilishly handsome as ever. They’d been married for years already but Cyndi still enjoyed the sight of her husband, especially in these robes. They fit him a lot nicer than his other ones did in her opinion. The young mother made a mental note to herself to get him a few more in different colors. Patting her damp hands on her pants, Cyndi returned her husband’s smile, though hers was a bit weary and her eyes were a bit tired looking. Seeing her husband lifted just a bit of that tired feeling though.

She patted her husband’s cheek as she looked up into his lovely blue eyes. ” He is” she nodded, standing on her tiptoes to plant a kiss on her husband’s lips before she turned to wave her wand towards the stove so the meat could begin to cook. ”It was a battle, but I won out in the end” she added with a pleased expression on her face as she walked to the stove. She continued speaking, glad to have someone to talk to after a day of baby talk. ”Noah was trying to roll over today. He’ll get it soon enough. I think that’s what eventually did it” she explained, a chuckle crossing her lips as she recalled watching her son. Hopefully, he’d do it tonight so Cam could see. Turning back to her husband for a moment, she shook her head. ”Nope…just me and Noah. All day long. I’ve been productive today. I got to do a bit of cleaning and now I’m cooking. It was kind of awesome” she stated with a small playful pout, ”the only way it would have been more great would have been if you had skived off work and stayed home.” Mrs. Kingsley was fully aware of how difficult it was for her husband to take a day off, but that didn’t help her to miss him less. ”How was your day, Mr. Kingsley?” she asked, turning her head back to what she was cooking. ”Did you miss us?” she asked teasingly.

Cameron wrapped his arms around his wife as she raised up on her tip toes to kiss him. He could never get enough of her kisses. It was nice to have Cyndi around so much these days. He knew her job was important to her and she was excellent at it. Only, Cam missed her when she was away at the school. Not that his job was much better. Cameron knew that he was gone for long hours everyday. Still, this was where he wanted to be. With his beautiful wife and handsome son. Cameron chuckled at Cyndi's words. "I have no doubt of that." he teased her back. When Cyndi was determined to do something, she always managed to succeed.

As Cyndi moved away to finish dinner, Cameron went over to the fridge to get a drink. His icy blue eyes widened with awe as he heard that Noah was trying to roll over. "I hope so. I would hate to miss the first time he does that on his own." he said as he made his way over to the table. Cameron feared that he would miss all of Noah's firsts because of his job. He really didn't want that. Cameron took a swig of his beer as he listened to his wife describe her day. It was nice that she been able to get a few things done around the house. He grinned at her as she said she wished he had stayed home today as well. There was nothing in the world that Cameron would have loved to do more. "Work was work. We had a department meeting, but I managed to get all of my work done." he said with a shrug. There wasn't much he could tell her about what he did. "Of course I missed you, dear. I missed you both so much that I managed to get a day off tomorrow just for you." he said, a crooked grin on his face. It was difficult for Cam to take a day off but not impossible.

The married woman looked over her shoulder at her husband and gave him a reassuring smile. She knew that Noah wouldn’t wait for anyone to get to rolling over, but that didn’t mean that Cyndi didn’t hope he would wait until an evening when mother and father were home together to witness it. That was the part of going back to work she feared the most – that she would miss some milestone in her son’s life. She wanted to witness everything but knew that she couldn’t. No one could witness every moment of another’s life, no matter how badly they wished it were different.

Using her wand to pull out the potatoes that had been in the oven, Cyndi placed them on the counter to cool, all the while listening to her husband speak about his day. She had grown used to not hearing much about it and had even developed a teeny game where she tried to read into what she perceived to be small hints since he couldn’t tell her what he did all the time. A meeting? Now that was interesting. The woman smiled, her back to her husband as she bent over to look for a salad bowl. Hearing that he had a day off, the young mother turned to the equally new father, her hair hanging towards the floor for a moment before she stood up with the bowl in her hand. ”Did I hear right, Mr. Kingsley?” she said, a mischievous smile on her face as her brown eyes twinkled. ”The Department of Mysteries has decided to give me my husband for a whole day? Hmm... we’ll have to plan something fun then.” The woman knew how difficult it was for Cameron to take the day off, especially since he was the Head of the department. Just as she was about to go to her husband just how happy she was that he had a day off, a faint rustling could be heard through the baby monitor followed by a small cry. Noah didn’t like not seeing anyone when he woke up. He was going through that stage.
