Height
5'7" (170 cm)

Skin tone
Fair with a natural warmth to her complexion, and freckles scattered across her nose and cheeks, especially in summer.

Hair
Wavy chestnut brown hair with natural golden highlights, usually worn loose or pulled back in a casual bun or ponytail when she’s working. Sometimes she weaves a small braid into her hair for practicality.

Eyes
Soft hazel with hints of green and gold, giving her eyes a naturally warm and approachable expression.

Prominent features
Amara has a light dusting of freckles across her face, particularly across her nose and cheeks. She has simple, small studs that she wears most of the time -- nothing flashy but personal, and a faint, crescent-shaped birthmark on her left wrist, often hidden by her Healer robes or sleeves. Given her healing expertise, Amara has managed to avoid major injuries, and her appearance remains unmarked by scars or tattoos. However, she does have a deep scar on her left forearm from a Quidditch accident involving a rogue Bludger when she was in her fourth year.

Personality
Amara is a kind-hearted, empathetic, and grounded individual who embodies the core traits of Hufflepuff House -- loyalty, hard work, and fairness. She has a gentle, calming presence that makes people naturally feel at ease around her, which is a key reason she excels as a Healer. Amara has a nurturing instinct and goes out of her way to help others, whether it's soothing a patient or providing emotional support to friends. Despite her gentle nature, she is strong-willed and persistent, showing immense resilience in the face of challenges. Amara is also introspective, preferring quiet reflection over impulsive decisions, and this patience allows her to see problems from multiple angles.

However, her tendency to put others before herself often leads to emotional burnout, and she struggles to set boundaries. She can sometimes overthink or worry too much, which occasionally affects her confidence in decision-making. Amara also has a subtle sense of humour and enjoys moments of light-heartedness with close friends, balancing her serious side with warmth and genuine care.

Likes
Herbology, Quidditch, tea, old magical remedies, sunsets.

Dislikes
Conflict, arrogance, dark magic, rudeness.

Hobbies / interests
Magical gardening, knitting, quidditch matches (back at school), volunteering.

Fears / phobias
Amara has a deep-seated fear of not being able to save someone in critical need, particularly those she grows close to. This fear can lead to overwork and self-doubt. Due to her overly caring nature, Amara fears being left alone or feeling emotionally disconnected from those she loves.

Mental illnesses
Amara experiences mild anxiety, particularly related to her work as a professor and her fear of not being able to help someone in a life-or-death situation. This anxiety is usually manageable, but it can occasionally overwhelm her when she feels under too much pressure. Due to her deeply empathetic nature, Isla can experience emotional burnout from constantly taking care of others without taking time for herself. This leaves her feeling drained and emotionally distant at times.

Backstory
Amara Goldwyn grew up in the picturesque village of Tintern, Wales, surrounded by lush forests and magical creatures. Her parents, both passionate about magical creatures and plants, instilled a sense of wonder and curiosity in her from a young age. Her father, a conservationist specialising in magical flora, often took her on adventures to explore the surrounding countryside, where they would identify different plants and discuss their magical properties. Meanwhile, her mother, a kind-hearted healer, shared stories of her own experiences at St. Mungo's Hospital, inspiring Amara's desire to help others.

Amara received her acceptance letter to Hogwarts New Zealand, where she was sorted into Hufflepuff from her very first year. The school’s strong emphasis on land-based magic, environmental balance, and community care suited her perfectly, and she quickly became known for her gentle nature and exceptional talent in Herbology and creature-focused studies. She spent much of her free time volunteering in the school’s sanctuaries and greenhouses, often assisting staff with injured or distressed magical creatures.

After graduating, Amara was invited to join Beauxbatons Academy of Magic as a visiting lecturer, before eventually accepting a permanent position as Professor of Herbology. At Beauxbatons, she became known for blending traditional European botanical magic with the ecological methods she had learned in New Zealand, introducing students to a more global and holistic understanding of magical plant life. Though her career took her across the world, Amara has always considered Hogwarts New Zealand her true home: the place that taught her not just how to grow magic, but how to care for it.

Hogwarts NZ

Amara’s first year at Hogwarts New Zealand felt like stepping into a living dream. The campus was unlike anything she had known before; lush with bioluminescent flora, enchanted coastlines, and magical ecosystems that responded to the rhythms of the land itself. While many students struggled to adjust to the school’s focus on environmental magic, Amara found it instinctively comforting, quickly gravitating toward the greenhouses and outdoor classrooms where magic felt alive and gentle.

By second and third year, she had settled into a steady rhythm, becoming known among her peers for her patience and quiet competence. She excelled in Herbology and Care of Magical Creatures, often volunteering to help professors catalogue rare plants or tend to injured creatures brought in from the surrounding reserves. Her calm presence and willingness to listen made her a natural source of support for homesick students, even as she herself slowly began to feel that Hogwarts New Zealand was becoming home.

In fourth and fifth year, Amara’s studies grew more specialised, and her interest shifted toward the healing properties of magical plants. She began independent research projects focused on restorative flora and sustainable magical cultivation, spending long hours in the deeper greenhouses and coastal gardens. Though never one to seek attention, her work was quietly impressive, earning her opportunities to assist in staff research and contribute to field studies beyond the school grounds.

By the time she reached her final years, Amara had become an integral part of the Hogwarts New Zealand community. She served as a student mentor, helped maintain the school’s living sanctuaries, and was trusted with rare and delicate plant species that required both technical skill and emotional attunement. When she graduated, it felt less like leaving a school and more like stepping out of a place that had shaped her entirely; one that taught her not only how to nurture magic, but how to live gently within it.

Extra-curriculars
Herbology Society (Years 1–7)
Amara lived in the greenhouses. She helped catalogue Southern Hemisphere magical plants, assisted with experimental cultivation, and later mentored younger students. By her final years, she was effectively running small research projects with staff supervision.

Quidditch (Years 2-6)
Amara joined the Hufflepuff Quidditch team in her second year after being encouraged by friends who noticed her speed and spatial awareness on a broom. While she wasn’t the flashiest player, she was remarkably reliable: an excellent passer with strong defensive instincts and an uncanny ability to read the flow of the game. In her fourth year, Amara suffered a serious injury after being struck by a rogue Bludger, leaving her with a deep scar on her left forearm and forcing her to take several months away from the pitch. The experience only strengthened her resolve to pursue healing, and she returned to the team with a new perspective -- more careful, but no less determined. She stepped down in her final year to focus on her NEWTs, but remained a dedicated supporter and occasional assistant trainer for younger players.

Student Support Network (Years 4–7)
Not official, but real. Amara often helped homesick or struggling students adjust to life far from home. She became known as someone safe to talk to; especially for international students.

Ecological Field Studies Group (Years 3–7)
A semi-academic group focused on studying ley lines, magical ecosystems, and conservation. Amara contributed to mapping projects, environmental spell trials, and sustainable magic practices; work that later directly fed into her academic career.

Beaubaxtons Academy of Magic

full

After graduating from Hogwarts New Zealand, Amara was eventually invited to Beauxbatons Academy of Magic as a visiting lecturer, initially for a short-term exchange. What was meant to be temporary soon became permanent, as her gentle teaching style and global approach to Herbology resonated deeply with students. She accepted a full-time position as Professor of Herbology, where she now blends traditional European botanical magic with the environmental methods she learned in New Zealand.

In her current life, Amara is known as one of Beauxbatons’ most beloved professors; quietly brilliant, endlessly patient, and deeply protective of both her students and the living magic she teaches. Though she now lives in France, she still returns to Hogwarts New Zealand whenever she can, maintaining research ties and personal connections to the place that first taught her how to nurture magic rather than control it. For Amara, teaching was never about prestige -- it was about continuing the cycle of care that shaped her into who she is today.

Life at Beauxbatons suited Amara in ways she hadn’t anticipated. The academy’s elegance and structure contrasted with the wild ecosystems of Hogwarts New Zealand, but she found comfort in the balance between tradition and beauty. Her classrooms became known for their warmth (literally and emotionally) filled with sunlight, living vines, and softly enchanted plants that responded to her calm magic. Students often described her lessons as grounding, a quiet refuge from the more demanding aspects of their studies.

Amara quickly developed a reputation among the faculty as someone dependable and quietly indispensable. She was frequently consulted on matters involving rare or unstable magical flora, as well as student wellbeing when magic and emotion became entangled. Though she never sought leadership roles, she often found herself naturally filling them; coordinating greenhouse schedules, mediating between departments, and helping newer professors adjust to the academy’s expectations.

Outside of teaching, Amara lives a modest, peaceful life within the Beauxbatons grounds. She keeps a small private greenhouse for experimental cultivation and spends her evenings cataloguing plant behaviour, writing research notes, or brewing restorative teas for colleagues and students alike. On weekends, she can often be found in the academy gardens, barefoot and wandless, tending to plants with a kind of magic that feels more like conversation than spellwork.

Socially, Amara is well-liked but never overwhelming: known as someone easy to talk to, quick to listen, and slow to judge. Students often seek her out not just for academic advice, but for reassurance, homesickness, and quiet emotional crises. Over time, she becomes one of those professors people remember not for how much they taught, but for how safe they made others feel while learning.
