Simon hadn't been to Brightstone 'in absolute yonks', as Artemis liked to say. Generally he wandered around once or twice, watching other students pass through the gates with their throngs of friends, and he hadn't seen much point in going when you hadn't a friend close enough to go trundling all about the countryside with. Rather, he usually went to the park with a good book or out towards Hidden Brook with a thermos full of tea. It was still rather lonesome. He tucked his long scarf into the crooks of his arms as he walked, and glanced to the side awkwardly a few times as though there was meant to be someone beside him.
His dark leather boots made a pleasant clopping noise against the cobblestones with every step, and Simon automatically began heading to the forest's edge that surrounded the little village. Through there he would travel to Hidden Brook, and perhaps paddled in the crisp Autumn water. He wasn't expecting to meet anyone but, feeling in a companionable mood, greeted the nest person he saw politely. The second person he saw as he passed seemed to be a lot more interesting, and Simon felt that he recognised him. It was another boy, looking slightly younger than him and certainly a bit shorter. "Allo. You from 'Ogwarts?" he smiled as they happened to be walking along the same path, his gentle English accent curling the letters of his speech. He wasn't usually daring enough to have a chat with a stranger, but he needed just a little something to fill the gaps of loneliness.
