Riley Sparkles shifted all of her curled hair to her right shoulder. Riley had gotten up extra early to curl her hair, and put on a bit of make-up. She slowly made her way to the 'Hogwarts Garden' having planned to meet up with Jerrod there. She hadn't seen him in such a long time, yet her mind hadn't escaped any thought of him. The thought of seeing him again rose excitement that Riley couldn't explain to herself, nor to anyone else; yet her heart was filled with butterflies of nerves, wondering if he would still like her.
Riley made her way through the gardens, stopping at a particular beautiful flower along the way. She picked it gently, and placed it in her hair. Smiling and looking up into the bright blue sky, Riley noticed a bench in the distance, and gracefully made her way towards it; and sat, patiently waiting for Jerrod.

Jerrod was excited to see Riley. It had been a while since he had last seen her but she seemed to be the beauty in all his dreams - night and day. He put on some clothes that weren't covered in mud from the game he'd played with Lily the day before. Lily was loads more fun than she had been before. Stress wasn't weighing her down as much as it used to be so she was able to enjoy herself a lot more. Jerrod was pleased of this because he meant he had one less thing to worry about.
Jerry walked through the grounds and couldn't hide the smile that grew across his face when he saw Riley sat on a bench. She looked amazing with the warm breeze blowing through her long curls and her smile glistening in the sun. He walked over to her at a fast pace. "Hello beautiful." He said as he sat next to her on the bench. "How have you been lately. It's been a while since I last saw you."

Riley smiled when she heard Jerrod's voice and turned around quickly to face him. Her heart started to pump faster at the sight of him. She looked down, blushing yet smiling at the way he greeted her. Thrown by his presence, Riley only managed to mutter a small "Hello." What is wrong with me? Riley thought. Get your act together girl, bring out your spark!
Riley looked up at Jerrod and nodded. "It has been such a long time. I've been pretty good! Mainly doing homework and studying and such. I am so excited for Christmas though! It's coming up so soon. Are you excited? I'm not sure how anyone can not be excited, especially around Hogwarts, they make it look so pretty. Just the atmosphere gets me pumped. I really can't wait!" She stopped herself from continuing, catching her breath. Riley breathed in heavily and smiled at Jerrod. "How have you been?"

Jerrod laughed when Riley took in a deep breath. "I think you're a bit too excited." He loved how Riley could be so energetic. It gave him something to new to try. He'd never been very energetic unless he was at home playing with Lily and now he was doing it with someone else, a Gryffindor. He sighed, "I've been good. Mum seems better, Dervish has split up with his wife and is back to his old ways, Lily's getting good grades, Bella and Rosie are getting huge." Jerry shrugged. "Christmas eve we're all meeting up at Brightstone to do present opening. Just the ten of us. Then Christmas is going to be spent here." Jerrod didn't know what he was going to do Christmas day. He had no plans and expected Lily would be too busy to spend time with him so it was just going to be the same as any other day.

A blush crimsoned Riley's cheeks and she looked down when Jerrod told her she was too excited. She felt ashamed and a little embarrassed. Her like for Jerrod was something overwhelming that grew deeper each time she looked at him; and with all she had she wanted to impress him. It seemed to her like she was not off to a good start.
Riley smiled a small smile listening to Jerrod speak. He seemed to have a pretty tough life in total contrast to herself; yet she was really inspired hearing him say that he was good. "I'm glad things are getting better Jerrod. I know it sucks, but my offer for any help needed still stands." She gently placed her hand on his shoulder in comfort. "And, sorry to be ignorant, but who is Dervish?" Riley asked shyly. A spark lit up in Riley's eyes when she heard that Jerrod would be at Hogwarts for Christmas. She tried to conceal her excitement, not wanting to seem too excited as she seemed to be before, "Oh, that's aweso- I mean, that - that's pretty cool. I'm here as well. Hogwarts I mean. For Christmas." She inwardly cursed herself for sounding so stupid.

Jerrod smiled and put his hand on top of Riley's. He would never understand how girls managed to keep their hands so soft and gentle. He just hoped that his weren't too rough for her's. "Thanks. It means a lot to me." He was glad to have at least one friend stood beside him that he could talk to.
Jerrod laughed at what Riley said next. "He's my oldest brother. He was the one who kept beating his wife when he got drunk." Jerrod was sure he's already told her about that. Then he grinned loads. "That's great. We could spend it together." The words were out of Jerry's mouth before he knew what he was saying. He loved the thought of spending Christmas with Riley but he'd be worried that something would go wrong. And what would he buy her?? He had no idea what sort of stuff Riley liked. Then there was the thought that Lily would see them. If his family found out that he was friends with a Gryffindor then they'd reject him. He'd be alone in the family. He still thought that Riley was worth the risk though. She was the best friend he had ever had.

Riley's heart fluttered when Jerrod placed his hand on top of hers. She liked the feeling of his rough hands against hers, and it brought a smile to her face. She continued to smile as Jerrod thanked her for her offer. "It's not a problem Jerrod. I'm always here for you." Riley said quietly. Her mouth formed the shape of a small O when Jerrod said what Dervish did. "Oh, well, I, uh, suppose that it is better, that they, er split then?" Riley asked, not quite sure what to make of it. She felt sorry for the wife, having to deal with being beaten. She shook her head, and moved that situation out of her mind, a smile taking place on her face one again when Jerrod said they could spend Christmas together. "Oh that's a wonderful idea! That would be so cool." She grinned excitedly. Although she wasn't sure what he would like as a gift, Riley couldn't wait to owl Neveah and let her know that she was spending Christmas with Jerrod.

Jerrod felt his stomach tighten. There weren't many people who would tell him they were always there for him and all the rest were his family. Having someone outside the Greens was great. "And I'll always be there for you." He didn't realise what he was saying until after he'd said it but he was glad the words had come out his mouth because they were true. He wanted to be there for her always. No matter what. "It is good but he's with someone else now. I don't know how he's going to react to this other girl. He seems to be doing okay with her but that's how it always starts." Jerrod shrugged. He was used to Dervish being like that but didn't mean he agreed with it. He believed that you should never hurt a woman in any way. The only excuse would be self defence and even that's a lame excuse.

Soz. Lame :/

Riley grinned as Jerrod said he'd always be there for her. She liked the relationship that was growing with Jerrod and she hoped that something more would come out of it soon. Riley could see herself with Jerrod for a long time. She didn't know how he felt, but they hope inside of her was egging her on, telling her that he felt the same. Riley moved her hand upside down so she was holding Jerrod's hand, and she squeezed it softly. "Thanks. I appreciate that." She said quietly.
Riley nodded slowly when Jerrod talked about Dervish and his new girl. She silently hoped that Dervish was the only one in the family with a violent streak but her stomach dropped slightly in remembering that Jerrod's dad was a death eater. But she shook the thought out of her head. Jerrod isn't like that. She told herself firmly. "Well, I hope that it continues to go good - er, well." Riley stumbled over her words.

Jerrod squeezed her hand back when she squeezed his. He liked being with Riley but he didn't know if she felt the same way. Plus, there was the fact that her family would quite literally kill him. "Shall we go sit down somewhere?? By the lake perhaps??" He shrugged and started pulling her hand so they walked in that direction. He liked the lake as long as he stayed away from the part where Shaylah spent most of her time. He hated her and she made sure people knew it.
Jerrod nodded. "So do I. He's been acting differently around Melody though. I think she might be the one for him." Jerry knew nothing of love but he'd never seen it the way it was between Derv and Mel. It was like they were meant to be together. Kinda like what his parents were a few years before his dad died.

Riley nodded her head and allowed herself to be pulled by Jerrod. She liked the feeling of holding his hand, being led by him and loved the fact that she would be seen with him. It gave her a sense of pride, a sense of pride she never knew she had. Riley kept her eyes focused on Jerrod, and listened as he spoke about Dervish and the girl named Melody. She smiled as he mentioned that Melody might be the one for Dervish. "Oh wow how sweet! Oh, I so hope it works out between them!" Riley exclaimed, thinking and hoping that maybe their romance would encourage the romance she was hoping to have with Jerrod. Riley had to walk a bit faster than usual to keep up with Jerrod, but didn't mind, her thoughts purely on him and the nervous feeling she had in her stomach.

Jerrod found somewhere clean and comfy by a tree that hung over the lake. He took his jacket off and placed it on the floor for Riley to sit on then he sat next to it. His hand gestured to the jacket and he grinned cheekily. "M' lady." Jerrod could be a gentleman whenever he wanted to. The fact that he chose not to be to most people was a whole different story which he wasn't about to go into. "I think it will." He shrugged. "Although, mum's getting fed up of having to watch my nephew, Rio, while Dervish goes to the pub and gets drunk. She's happy to do it while he's at work but having fun is different to working and she thinks that kids should be put first." In a way Jerrod agreed with her but he also believed that Derv had stress that he needed to let loose by having fun. It was better than taking it out on poor little Rio.

Riley giggled as Jerrod offered her a seat on his jacket. She curtsied with a smile on her face, before she sat down next to him. It was such a sweet thing to do, and Riley really appreciated it. "Thank-you, kind sir." Riley replied with a grin. Riley listened as Jerrod said that Dervish went to the pub rather than looking after Rio. "I take it Rio is Dervish's child then? I have to say, I kind of agree with your mom. Rio should come first, when you have a child you sort of take up that responsibility. . ." Riley trailed off and looked at Jerrod, hoping she hadn't said anything wrong.

Jerrod grinned at Riley's reply and kept his eyes on her as she spoke. "Yeah. One of his two sons. Cloe has Rhys though so Dervish never gets to see him." Jerrod felt sorry for all four of them. Derv and Rio never got to see Cloe and Rhys. Jerrod had seen Derv when he spoke about Rhys and knew that he missed his other son. "When he's with Rio he comes first but then Rio gets dumped on my mum and left there until Derv's sobered up or until mum can take him to the house and put him to bed without him waking up." Jerry loved having Rio around. He could see the toddler growing up to follow in the footsteps of his father.
