Hinewhaitiri was used to her cousins disappearing off to Hogwarts, every couple of years someone new would go away and she would have one less cousin to play with. She had always hated it, but after Marama it was supposed to be over for a long time. Hinemoa was only a couple of years older than she was, so she shouldn't be losing any more of her family to that school for a long time. But then Te Rēweti's letter had come, and changed their whole lives. The whole rest of her family were magic, but Hinewhaitiri had always known they were different. Her mum and dad didn't have any magic at all, and everyone had always expected she and Te Rēweti would be the same. Grownups looked sad whenever they talked about it, like they were missing out on something big, but Hinewhaitiri didn't want to go to a big school away from everyone she knew, she wanted to stay home where her toys and friends were.

But just like that, her future had become one big unknown. If Te Rēweti was magical after all, she might be too. So now she was stuck at home all alone, like an only child without her older brother around, and with no way to know if he was okay at school - what if he was being bullied? She knew Auntie Kahu and all their cousins would be looking out for him, but he had been so scared he cried the whole way to school. Hinewhaitiri wasn't ready to be alone, and her brother definitely wasn't either. So she was in a far worse mood than she usually was at the playground, feet dragging in the woodchips below the swing as she morosely rocked back and forth. This was supposed to be fun, but she just couldn't make herself enjoy it.

Molly wasn't too happy when everyone was going to Hogwarts. She couldn't wait, even though she had two places she called home. One had always been it the other was new , but she had managed to settle in, have new toys and friends. Although nothing could replace her grandmother thanks to meeting new people she could forget her sadness for a while. However, the first of September was the worst, she wanted so much to go to school already, she was angry and sad, and it made all the memories come back, like the photos in her grandparents' album. The ones where everyone is moving, around and around.

Today she did not go to kindergarten, she knew that her grandfather was keeping an eye on her from the window , after all, they lived close by. When she saw Hinewhaitiri she smiled, although she noticed that her friend was not in the best mood either. She walked over to the second swing and began to swing. We will also go someday, now we can swing. She shrugged her shoulders with a sigh.

Dia didn't often go out without her brother, but he'd been kidnapped by their mother and Dia had asked to be dropped off at the park for the day. Her uncle had agreed to take her, and was loitering somewhere nearby. She didn't pay Jordie any mind and instead wandered to the park. She saw two girls on the swings, and considered for a moment doing something- some sort of prank- but the one looked too sad. Dia was mischevious, but she wasn't mean. She decided instead to head over to them. "Hi!" She greeted, hands in her pockets and ebony hair pulled back in a high, messy ponytail, several long strands falling out to frame her face. "Let's hang out." She declared, thinking nothing was better for a sad face than running around to burn off some energy. Or maybe they could help her with a prank of some sort.

Yes, let's do it, we'll be better off. She looked at Hi. How about up to those ladders? Then we can climb up. Molly loved climbing and running. She always had to be on the move and doing something. Draw on the walls also, sometimes, play instruments. She started running while looking at the girls. She regretted not taking Mr. D her teddy bear would be a judge. Fair and charming. He's always like that. She always relied on him as she did on Hi. They filled her heart with love. Hi, she shouted on the run reminding herself that she didn't say. I'm Molly and I won! She smiled broadly and returned taking Hi by the hand. Come on, because she will win! I guess you don't want that? Mollly giggled happily and tucked her red hair behind her ear. She knew it would always be like this. It couldn't be otherwise.

Hinewhaitiri looked up when Molly spoke, shoulders hunching slightly. "I dunno if I wanna go." She admitted, kicking at the ground quietly. She hadn't really said it out loud before, but it was true. Leaving her whole family behind wasn't her idea of a good way to learn. She looked over when another girl approached, heart sinking when Molly completely ignored her to go play with another girl. She didn't wanna be left behind so she got up quietly, following after the other girls at a dawdle.

Dia was surprised when one of the girls immediately jumped up, high energy. She hesitated, surprised by how quickly the one girl- Molly- seemed to be willing to jump into playing games. Dia looked back at the other girl. She considered a moment before jogging back to the girl whos name she didn't know. "Hey, I'm Diamond," She offered as Molly joined them both. "What's your name?" She asked. She didn't know the girl well, but she knew a sad face when she saw one.
