Aerin likes to gives nicknames to people, she recognises voices more often than she does names and she forgets names very frequently. So just so that she doesn't forget (she doesn't want to admit it), Aerin assigns a nickname to someone once she's met them. AESTHETIC

HISTORY
Aerin grew up in a pretty well-off family in Jeju-do. Her father, Dongwoo is a small politician and her mother, Hyeji stays at home to take care of Aerin and her siblings. From the beginning, Aerin had a lot of attention to her, as she had been born blind. Her parents, dote on her and try to protect her from the world, while trying to give her the best they can provide. Although her father didn't want another child due to Aerin, her mother got pregnant very soon after Aerin was born with Mirim. They both studied at a prestigious all girl's school in Jeju-island for a couple of years, with Mirim being "tasked" to take care of Aerin. That did not go as planned, as Aerin didn't really want her sister to be the one taking care of her. So instead, they had made a deal to leave each other alone when they were at school. They also went to Canada frequently during the summers, to get better at english. For a few years, they lived like that, until Jaemin (The youngest brother) was adopted. He was found infront of their house in a suitcase. Seeing as most of her children was older, Hyeji was able to give baby Jae as much love as she could give him. This was around the time when they adopted Boa, a service dog for Aerin. On her 11th birthday, a letter arrived, inviting her to hogwarts and the whole family moved to New Zealand.

also referred to as pediatric, or infantile glaucoma — occurs in babies and young children. It is usually diagnosed within the first year of life. This is a rare condition that may be inherited, caused by incorrect development of the eye's drainage system before birth. It causes damage to the optic nerve, which makes it so the image that is perceived by the cones are not able to be sent to the brain.

Cane- She has a magic cane with her at all times. It is able to retract and become longer. It’ll also be able to tell her nearby surroundings. (Ex. When she taps it on the floor she’ll be able to sense that there are people’s feet/shoes or objects that are within a half a meter radius of her.) It helps her avoid bumping into people in big crowds. Her cane works with a concept similar to echolocation but instead of sound, the vibration sent from her tapping it on something will become amplified, an object in the half meter radius will send back a vibration. It does some magic thing to make her have a "sixth sense" of where an object is. Other people who walk through this radius will barely feel anything unless they are bare foot, and are sensitive to vibrations.

Academic- All of Aerin’s school books are in braille and she has a quill that writes her notes for her in braille (produces thick ink that dries quickly). Additionally she’d also have a quill that would write in print for exams, homeworks, etc. For handouts/sheets of paper that professors give her, she’d probably ask one of her classmates to read them to her (or to her quill), so it can be written down into braille for her to remember. ​
