She was living on the other end of town, in a nice townhome with her brother, mother and father, who were both often very busy working. Desperate for an escape, Abner quickly found refuge at the Kane house. He quickly grew close to Cara and her older brother, Edison, who was three years older. Abner was awed by Cara's older brother right away, but also intimidated him. Unsure of how to approach the other boy, Abner started keeping a journal. Every entry was a 'dear Eddie' entry. Abner never gave any of them to the older boy, and kept the slowly growing pile of notebooks in a shoebox in the top of his closet.
Cara and Abner were inseparable during school, quickly falling in love and eloping days after graduation. Cara used her inheritance, while Abner used the money he got from selling his parents house to buy a home of their own. Cara was pregnant, and by the time Abner was eighteen they had given birth to their firstborn son, Asher. Abner worked from home as an Aurologist, while Cara worked outside of the home in real estate. As time went on, their family grew bigger. His brother moved into a house on the other side of Wellington with his new wife. Abner and Cara had twins, Addison and Allison, when Asher was twelve. Things started to turn around for Abner with Eddie's return. Their relationship has been rather rocky. Abner is very insecure in Eddie's continued presence, afraid that he won't be good enough and that the other man will change his mind again and leave Abner behind. It was this fear that drove Abner to purchase the robes shop Madam Malkins, considering it a respectable job. He hopes that it might improve his mother and father-in-laws opinions of him, knowing already that they think very little of him, worried that their opinion will once again sway Eddie into leaving Abner behind.
Life continues to have its twists and turns, as his daughter Allison became pregnant in her sixth year at school. After a bit of a rocky start and some arguing- in which Abner had to go and retrieve his daughters boyfriend, Thomas Jusantrea- it was decided that Allison would stay in school and Abner would help Thomas to raise the baby in Allisons absence. She had the twins during the first break of seventh year, and after graduation the four of them moved into the main house.
Abner has taken it on himself to move in with Eddie in his small home, helping his children to afford living in their childhood home while feeling more comfortable at Eddie's house.
