Trigger warning for anxiety and panic attacks

The final semester of his final year at school being underway was more difficult for Flavio to handle than he ever imagined, but he was trying to put himself back together as he walked to meet with Geo for their prefect patrol. Something was wrong with him and he knew it, the feeling of being so overwhelmed and terrified of everything going on in his mind that he couldn't stand or breathe wasn't normal, none of what he was experiencing was what happened to normal people and as he walked, blinking to get rid of the last of the feeling of being lightheaded, catching his breath and noticing the feeling was gradually returning to his fingers he was doing everything he could to seem normal when he knew he wasn't. Nothing felt real, and it was as if he were waking up from a dream not knowing where he was, but at the same time everything was too real and his responsibilities for that night and the following day were jumping out at him as painful reminders he couldn't show that something was wrong with him. Surely, if anyone knew what was happening to him they would think he was crazy, and wanting to be the best version of himself and someone reliable to the people he cared about and the rest of the school he had to act alright even if he knew he wasn't and even if an overwhelming feeling of fear continued whirling around in his chest.

Flavio ran a hand through his hair as he arrived to the first floor, trying desperately to neaten his appearance to its usual state while he waited for Geo. He moved to lean against one of the walls, hands working to straighten the tie of his uniform as his gaze darted to each side of the corridor, feeling on edge. Though he was shaken up and desperately trying to hide it, patrols were a responsibility he knew he couldn't avoid and he kept reminding himself of this in an effort to return to being himself as quickly as possible.

Even though the year of OWLs was more challenging than ever, Geo felt as though this year she was in a better place with her friends. Over the years there had been some ups and downs but as things had come to settle for the fifth year, it was easier to focus on the tasks at hand. Of all people she could be patrolling with, she was particularly glad to be paired with Flavio. She'd come to trust the older boy like a sibling, and the more time they spent together the more excited the Hufflepuff got about what the future held for them. With a grin on her face as her blue eyes met the Head Boy, she bounded up beside him, free for once from the books that usually lay in her arms. Their patrols were different to the usual time they spent together, and gave them a chance to talk to one another about things outside of their school work. The fifth year had her own ideas swimming around her head, and curious to find out what the Ravenclaw would make of them, she quickly linked her arm with his, smiling up into towards his pale features, unaware of the difficulties he was facing.
Even if it had been days since they last spoke, it was comfortable and easy to talk to Flavio, a trait she knew she was going to miss in a few months time after graduation, and bursting into conversation felt as natural as riding a bike. "So, I've had a thought." Her voice bubbling a little as she was excited to share her recent ideas, she only hoped he would agree it was a smart move. "I need to do something with this.." she added, her free hand waving up and down her body, "It seems a waste to be an Auror and not use a Metamorphmagi."

Even as Geo arrived seeming unaware something was wrong with him and acting like her usual self, Flavio couldn't get his mind away from his residual feelings of fear. All he wanted was to feel settled down and knowing this patrol was underway and he was still somehow able to pull it together in the moment surprisingly didn't help this, the only thing he could think of to solve the problem of the awful feelings he was experiencing was to continue until all his responsibilities were taken care of. He did not know what was happening to him, but he did know that whatever it was would make him look crazy and take away all he had worked for, and he felt that his only option was to continue working to show there wasn't something going on. With his mind on beginning the patrol now that Geo had arrived, Flavio nodded to her words and moved his hands from his tie, trying to give a response that would get them on their way. "It could be good for camouflage maybe." He stepped away from the wall. "We should get going." Talking to Geo about things other than their patrol seemed like a bad idea where Flavio would need to navigate the conversation to avoid how unlike himself he felt, so he tried to focus on being productive.

With her eyes still locked on the boy beside her, she gave him a moment to pull himself away from the wall. "Well exactly. Camouflage. Or using it to blend in so it's easier to follow people." She wasn't exactly sure how often she would need to follow anyone when she was older, but at the least the chance was there. "I'm going to read about it later. Metamorphmagi. I know Solomon thinks we should make the most of it too but if I'm really going to do that, I need to know what the options are." she added. She may even come to find something that she didn't know she could do herself yet. After spending years convinced that she shouldn't use it beyond trivial reasons, and that she should be giving her peers an equal chance, Geo had come to realise that would have just been pointless, especially in her career. As the pair began their patrol, she glanced down the corridor, "Where are we going today?" she asked out of curiosity, wondering if he had a route in mind already, giving his arm a small squeeze as they walked.

Geo's words were going in one ear and out the other. On a normal night he would have loved to listen to her talk about whatever was on her mind, reveling at the opportunity to talk to his friend about something other than school. But that night wasn't a normal night and Flavio couldn't focus as intently on Geo's words, instead only thinking of how to get everything on track so their patrol was productive and so he could return to his dorm when it was over feeling accomplished that another one of his responsibilities was taken care of. It might have been an optimistic thought and the reality was when he did return to his dorm he would likely worry about the future and all he needed to do the next day, in the same way he was now worrying about ending the patrol later that night, but it was what was getting him through the moment. All he wanted to do was focus the conversation on their task and after they began walking and Geo asked where they were going he wished it would continue in the same way. "We should start here and make our way to the upper levels." He answered, keeping his eyes on the corridor in front of them.

Geo was grateful that she could talk as much as she wanted around Flavio, without feeling like she was going to say something stupid. It was however, slightly unusual for the Ravenclaw not to acknowledge her words, and as he spoke only of the latter part of the conversation, the fifth year glanced up to his eyes for any trace of something wrong. Perhaps he just hadn't been sure what to say, and giving him the benefit of the doubt, she pushed the thoughts from her mind and she followed his lead. "The upper levels? Do you want to stop off anywhere on the way? Maybe we can go and check out how far the newspapers go back in the library on the way?" She asked, knowing how excited they both usually were for finding out new information. "I bet it will be quite far. I can't imagine the records will have been cleared completely." She added with a small smile, hoping to get her best friend excited about something. They needed to make the most of their time together at the castle after all.

In the midst of how unsettled and unlike himself Flavio was feeling, he was almost annoyed when Geo suggested the pair of them pause their patrol to visit the library. Flavio stopped walking and looked from the corridor and to his friend. Deep down he appreciated her suggestion and knew making the most of the time he had left in the castle should be one of his priorities, but clouding this was his need to stay focused on his task and be productive to keep his fear from surfacing again. He didn't have the time or the mental capacity to handle distracting himself from his responsibilities, he felt as if it would do more harm than good, and the last thing he needed that day was to add more to the ever growing and never ending list of worries he already had. "I do not want to stop anywhere. We need to just stay focused." Flavio responded. The sternness in his words echoing throughout the corridor transformed his voice to sound more unrecognizable than it already was, but he ignored this and began to walk forward again.

Geo was rarely caught off guard to the point of being speechless, but the harshness in Flavios tone brought her to her senses, as she stated at him and slowed down her walk. "Did I do something wrong?" She asked with a frown, her voice now with a hint of annoyance. The fifth year only tried to do her best but she had become aware that she could be too much. "What is it?" Her feet stopped in their tracks. She was going any further if Flavio was hiding something. It wasnt like him at all, and she hated the idea of her best friend being mad at her, and determined not to have another incident similar to the one with Jess, she wanted a straight answer of the Ravenclaw. "Has something happened?", her arms dropped and crossed over her chest, eyeing him up with suspicion.
