a walk to the lakefront

[Andromeda Fiorelli]

Andromeda gently kicked a stone from the path she was walking on, she bit the last piece of her apple. She turned to Blane smiling.
"You ok now?"

 

[Blane Bailey]

Blane had been following Andromeda down to the lake all the while taking small bites into the apple he had taken out of the great hall. "I'm okay." Blane said to Andromeda as he walked beside her. "Shall we sit down or keep walking" Blane asked while taking Andromeda's hand with the one he was not holding the apple with.

 

[Andromeda Fiorelli]

Andromeda laughed, "I think the exercise will do you the world of good, so we'll just keep walking! How are you doing with your astronomy class?"

 

[Blane Bailey]

"Its good. Going well." Blane said "The lake looks really nice today." Blane commented looking out at it.

 

[Andromeda Fiorelli]

"That's it? It's going well? You don't talk much do you Blane?" she smiled, "A wee bit of elaboration is always good you know!"

 

[Blane Bailey]

Blane looked at her. He looked back out at the lake. "Walking with you, down by the lake, knowing that you will always be there for me and I for you, really makes me appreciate it a lot more. It is calm right now resembling the quietness of the school and beautiful as much as you deny it as you." Blane paused and let go of Andromeda's hand and walked silently to the waters edge. Looking at his reflection then looking back at her. "I see myself in the lake, but a different me. A new me. Not someone with little belief left that the world is good. Now I see happiness, friendship and love." Blane finished, he looked back out at the lake.

 

[Andromeda Fiorelli]

Andromeda laughed and walked up to him.
"Now I'm stunned - that is the most you've said ever! Did I say to elaborate? Ignore me in future Blane!" she looked out across the lake as well.
"I think here any future is possible. We can reinvent ourselves completely. Become the people we have always imagined ourselves to be!"

 

[Blane Bailey]

"You could." Blane said nodding he took her hand once more. "Would you ever change your name?"

 

[Andromeda Fiorelli]

"My name?" Andromeda thought he was losing the plot now, "I like Andromeda. My dad named me after our sister Galaxy! Why would I want to change it?"

 

[Blane Bailey]

"I don't know, if I wanted to completely reinvent myself I would change my name." Blane said "I would probably only change my last name."

 

[Andromeda Fiorelli]

"I like your name! and anyway I didn't mean it like that, I meant whatever our dreams and aspirations are for when we're older they all start now!"

 

[Blane Bailey]

"Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans." Blane said smiling

 

[Andromeda Fiorelli]

"Exactly!" she smiled, relieved that he actually did get it!

 

[Blane Bailey]

Blane smiled "Do you believe in fate?" Blane asked

 

[Andromeda Fiorelli]

"No!" Andromeda grew serious now, "We make our own luck, our own chances. If we rely on something as vague as Fate then nothing would happen!"

 

[Blane Bailey]

"I don't either but I did here this from somewhere, can't remember, You are a child of universe, no less than the trees and the star; you have a right to be here. And wether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should." Blane said trying to remember where he had heard it.

 

[Andromeda Fiorelli]

"But that isn't fate! that's life. If the universe is unfolding as it should then it's evolution. Fate, destiny - it's all emotional mumbo jumbo! everyone around here puts too much store in all that stuff!" Andy didn't know why she was getting angry all of a sudden but she was.
"Do you know my uncle is working here?"

 

[Blane Bailey]

"No I didn't know, where which part of the school does he work as?" Blane asked.

 

[Andromeda Fiorelli]

"He's the nurse!" she said quietly, sitting down at the bank of the lake,"he doesn't want me dating!"
Andy flung a stone into the water and waited for Blanes reaction.

 

[Blane Bailey]

Blane looked at her "He doesn't want you to be dating? Does he not like me?" Blane asked.

 

[Andromeda Fiorelli]

"Blane, he doesn't even know you! He just thinks I'm too young! and that I should be concentrating on my school work", she sighed.

 

[Blane Bailey]

"Oh" Blane sighed "Sorry"

 

[Andromeda Fiorelli]

Andromeda bunched her legs up, tucking her knees under her chin.
"what have you to be sorry for!" she sulked, she felt dull and sad all of sudden.

 

[Blane Bailey]

Blane put his arm around Andromeda. "I never thought about school work interfering or that family members wouldn't approve of us going out." Blane said giving her a small kiss on her cheek.

 

[Andromeda Fiorelli]

"Neither did I. But I guess we can't think of everything. We are only 11yrs old!" she sighed again and leaned back into his arm. "Maybe we should be friends, really good friends until we are older!" she looked at him, biting her lip.
