It was Professor Prep Day, and Selene was very excited to be back at Hogwarts, teaching her favourite class. She had spent the mornign getting her office and classroom set up. and was spending the afternoon visiting her colleagues. Specifically, the teachers who had meant a lot to her when she had been a student. She had had a cup of tea with Professor Josephs and had just been to see Professor Dubois and was making her way back to her office to do some more of her lesson plans.

Iris felt a mixture of excitement and fear as she walked through the corridors of Hogwarts. She had applied for the professor position when it became available, but she still hadn't truly imagined she would get it. Divination had been her lifelong passion, and having the chance to share this with students was an incredible opportunity. But doubt also crept in. What if she couldn't do it? What if she struggled with classroom management? She was busy preparing her classroom and had made the trip up and down to the tower a few times already, carrying boxes with materials and stacks of paper. Because of the things she was carrying, she didn't immediately notice the figure coming down the tower stairs. When she did, she stopped cold. For a moment, she had thought it was Elvera, her former boss and former professor. But as she lowered the stack of papers she was carrying, she saw it was Selene. Her friend. What was she doing here? Iris' heart sank as she immediately wondered if there had been some sort of mix up. Was it really Selene who was supposed to take over from her mother? It made an awful lot of sense. But Iris had read the letter with her acceptance at least five times. What was going on? "S-Selene?" Iris asked, stammering in surprise. "What– how–?"

Selene was not really paying attention as to where she was going. She had walked the stairs to the divination tower so many times over the years that even after a decade they were muscle memory, even if after a decade her muscles were tired and unused to stairs. It was only when she heard her name that she looked around and saw someone standing with an arm full of boxes. it took a second for her to see around the stack as to who it was. "Iris? What are you doing here?" she asked. She was surprised to see her friend. Despite the age difference, they had been friends at school, sharing a common interest in divination. Ever since school, they had been close, working together, managing the inner eye for a while. However, they had lost contact a bit when she had left to teach despite the fact that she was dating one of Iris's closest friends.

Iris adjusted her weight, moving the boxes to the side a bit so she could see Selene a little better. She was happy to see her, despite the confusion, as she considered Selene a friend. They had worked together at the Inner Eye for years, and as she was dating Poppy, they still ran in the same circles. Iris hesitated at the question, feeling strangely uncertain as she responded. "I'm uh– I work here?" She said, though it unintentionally came out as a question. She adjusted her grip on the boxes again. "I mean, I work here. I'm the new Divination professor... lower years." She looked at Selene for her reaction.

Selene stepped closer. offering to take one of the boxes of iris, they looked heavy. But before she could, her friend said that she worked here now, and she smiled . "Congratulations. That is great news. We are working together again,"[/b] she said before, reaching to give her friend an awkward one-sided hug. "I was curious who they got to teach divination, and Professor Dubois, I mean Yvonne, didnt know when I went up to see her. " she said. Remembering that she was now on first-name terms with the professors, she couldn't wait to tell her mum. She was sure she would be very pleased to find out who her replacement was. "Do you want a hand with the boxes?" she asked.

Iris searched Selene's face for any confusion, but was relieved not to find any. She tried to hug her back, but the boxes made it impossible. She tried to wrap her mind around what she was saying. "Hold on, why are you here, then?" She asked, her mind spinning. "No, let me just put them down so we can talk without them in the way." She said, putting the boxes on the floor. She stopped the top one from sliding off the stack. "So Professor Dubois is still here, then... you teach a different subject?"

Selene could see the confusion spreading in Iris' face and realised what it might have looked like her coming out of the divination tower. She moved away to give Iris space to set the boxes down. "Yes, I was just visiting Yvonne to say hello, and to return a couple of her things mum accidentally packed up. I haven't seen her in years." she said. Moving out of the way as Iris put the boxes down. It was only when Iris asked whatg that she realised she hadn' she was teachint said so, caught up in the excitement of running into and teaching alongside one of her good friends. " Yes, she's still here. I have just started i'm teaching runes, also third and fourth years." she said. Still excited at the prospect. Despite her obvious skill, divination runes was always her favourite.

Iris nodded slowly as Selene spoke about visiting Yvonne and returning a few of the things her mum had taken. That made sense, but she still didn't entirely understand it until Selene finally mentioned she had started teaching Runes this year. She remembered now that that position had also been open. Iris gasped and pulled Selene into another hug, a real one this time. "Oh, congratulations!" She said, excited. "It'll be so much fun to teach here together." She then said, pulling back from the hug.

Selene hugged iris back properly this time. Feeling like they were teenagers again not adults both about to start proper responasable adult jobs. "Yes, I can't wait." she said. as hse let go. ' Now let me give you a hand with the boxes. Then we can have a cup of tea and really catch up." she said. it seemed poitless catching up in a corridor when they both had offices designed for that kind of thing. Then she had a thought. "Does Poppy know you're here?" she asked. wondering if her girlfriend know and if not was she allowed to tell her or was it something iris wanted to do herself.

Iris was finally caught up on how things were, and she was glad about it. She could easily picture her and Selene hanging out together in one of their offices, or the professor common room. Chatting, drinking tea, discussing lesson plans. She smiled excitedly. "Yes, thank you." She said, handing over one of the boxes to Selene. "I probably should have just levitated them, but things kept falling out," she said with a distracted laugh. Iris shook her head at Selene's question. "I only told Rose I applied, and since I got accepted I haven't had the chance to write to Poppy yet," she said guiltily. "It went really fast all of a sudden."
