Although Clementine was all sorts of confused about her own feelings of love, she was still excited to deliver roses for Valentine's Day today. She had gathered up the roses she needed to deliver with their appropriate cards and headed off to the great hall first because it was always the best place to start off before wandering throughout the castle. The first rose she picked up was pink and was meant for a Gryffindor. She vaguely recognized who the kid might be because of his last name, he was the son of one of the head of houses, something her younger sister Ella had been quick to point out to her since they shared similarities with them and Kennedy. At least this made identifying him easier for her. "Jacob! Kingsley!" she called out, adding his surname belatedly since there were probably several Gryffindor Jacob's, so she needed to clarify.

Jacob had already looked up when he'd heard his name so his surname was a bit much. He'd have shouted the girl's name back if he had known it, but she had him at a disadvantage. So he did the next best thing in his mind. "PRESENT!" he shouted, his hands cupped against his mouth. He knew it was another rose because he could see her holding them all, and Jacob wondered who else had sent him one. He hadn't expected one rose let alone another one.

Clementine turned at the sound of the boy confirming he was here and she giggled at his response. She bounded over to him, hiding the roses behind her back even though he probably already knew what she was there for, but still, at least he didn't know what color it was yet. Plus, this was all part of the fun. "I've got something for you!" she announced unnecessarily. Clementine turned around and rummaged in her basket so he couldn't see for the one with his card labeled on it - something she should have done beforehand, but this was her first delivery of the day so she forgot - and then brandished the pink rose to him. "Here you go!" she said excitedly, only barely refraining from saying 'it's pink!' because he could already tell. So she merely handed it over to him with the card attached, smiling brightly.
You're adorable.
Love, Onyx

Jacob gave the girl a strange look as she made her announcement. He knew she had a rose. What else could it be? He waited patiently, waiting for her to turn around again. When she had and she was holding a pink rose, Jacob frowned. He looked around, hoping too many people weren't watching before he took it quickly, dropping the rose onto his lap where people couldn't see its color. He had no idea who would send him a pink rose. Once upon a time, he might have hoped...no, never mind there was no point thinking about that now. Reading over the short note, Jacob's worry deepened. Love, Onyx ran over and over in his head, until he felt like he was about to cry. Jacob hadn't even sent him a rose even though he knew they were going to the dance together. He was such a jerk. But even if he had, he would have sent a yellow one. He liked hanging out with Onyx but didn't particularly feel anything else. Right? He certainly wouldn't have written love in his card. These were the times he wished Noah was around. "Thanks" Jacob mumbled without looking up as he struggled with the drawstring on his bag so he could stuff the flower and more inside.
